Rev.
Vernon Ernest Davenport, age 81, of Blairsville, GA, passed away
Tuesday, March
24, 2009 at Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta due to injuries received
in an
automobile accident. Rev. Davenport was
born Monday, May 9, 1927 in Union County GA to the late Bill Davenport
and the
late Clara Teague Davenport. Vernon was
a member and Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church and an area Minister
since
1950. He was preceded in death by his
first wife, Ellav Davenport and son, Jackie Davenport.
Survivors
include: wife, Bonnie Mason Davenport of
Blairsville, GA, daughter & son-in-law, Betty & Louis Henderson
of
Blairsville, GA, daughter & son-in-law, Marie & Bruce
Fortenberry of
Calhoun, GA, daughter & son-in-law, Doris & Roy Hefner of
Blairsville,
GA, daughter & son-in-law, Anita & Robert Olmos of Calhoun, GA,
daughter & son-in-law, Shirley & Wayne Aldridge of Dahlonega,
GA,
step-children, Janice Morgan, Wanda and Ronald Deyton, Tony Ledford,
Tracy and
Rex Rogers and Troy Ledford, all of Blairsville and 7 grandchildren and
6 great
grandchildren. Many other relatives and
friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 2 PM from the Bethlehem
Baptist
Church with Rev. Marvin Allison, Rev. Grady Ray and Dr. Don Pruitt
officiating. Music provided by the Moss
family and Denise
Campbell. Interment followed in
Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery. Serving as
pallbearers were the following gentlemen:
Richard Tanner, Vick Botts, Marshall Newman, Larry McCollum,
John Harden
and H.L. Rogers. Honorary pallbearers
included: Rev. Ray Potts, Rev. Cotton Harris, Rev. Frank Dockery, Rev.
Don
Hood, Rev. Dale Abernathy, Rev. Bryan Mason, Rev. Hubert Legg and Rev.
Trannis
Colwell.
The family
received friends at the funeral home from 6-9 PM, Wednesday, March 25.

Mrs.
Emma Jane Crump Turner, age 90, of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away
Monday, March
23, 2009 at New London Health Center in Snellville, Georgia. Mrs. Turner was born Monday, July 8, 1918, in
Union County, Georgia, to the late Frank Crump and the late Carrie Lee
Lovell
Crump. Mrs. Turner had lived in the
Atlanta area since 1945. She was of the
Baptist faith, and had been preceded in death by her her (sic) husband,
Archie
Frank Turner, Sr.; sisters and brothers: William McDonald Crump,
Luneedah
Avera, Edward Crump, Harold Crump and Georgia Crump.
Surviving
family members include: son, Archie Frank Turner, of Lilburn;
step-daughter,
Marceline May, of Birmingham, Alabama; sister, Joyce Tanner, of
Snellville;
brother, John David “J.D.” Crump, of Griffin, Georgia; and sister,
Billie Joan
Cardot, of Blairsville. Many other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held at the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in
Blairsville, on
Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. Interment followed in Harmony Grove Baptist
Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers
were the following gentlemen: Archie Frank Turner, John Crump, Jonathan
Crump,
Russell Cardot, Kevin Tanner and Joe Dillard.

Mrs.
Edwina Dawn (Brown) Garrison age 50 of Pat Colwell Rd., Blairsville
passed away
on Friday, March 27, 2009 in the Union General Hospital following an
extended
illness. Mrs. Garrison was born on June
6, 1958 in Towns County, the daughter of the late Clayton Brown and the
late
Jennie Sue Lance Brown. She was a
lifelong resident of Union County.
Edwina was a woman full of love.
She enjoyed gardening and watching wildlife.
Her joy was her grandchildren. She
was a loving wife, mother, sister and
grandmother. Mrs. Garrison was a member
of Youngstown Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Garrison are her loving husband, Tim Garrison of Blairsville, two sons
and
daughters-in-law, Chad and Kaye Rich of Blairsville, Trint and Christa
Rich of
Blairsville, one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Maria Brown of
Holly
springs, GA, niece and nephew, Clay and Kristi Brown, four
grandchildren,
Lance, Cayden, Katie and Bentley Rich, many other relatives and friends
also
survive.

services were held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Hood officiating.
Special music was presented by Jonathan Adams and Rhonda Hood. The following gentlemen served as

Mrs.
Joyce Lucille fears age 79 of Scenic Mtn. Park Drive, Blairsville
passed away
on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 in the St. Joseph’s Hospital following a
brief
illness. Mrs. Fears was born on Jan. 15,1930 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late
Arthur
Burton and the late Louise Schauwecker Burton.
She had worked for Scovill Manufacturing Company for many years. She enjoyed time here in the mountains with
her friends. Joyce was a loving mother,
grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all.
She was preceded in death by her sister,
Ovida Hawley. Mrs. Fears was a member of
the Columbo Catholic Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Fears are daughter, Sharron Emmons of Middleton, CT, son, Randy Emmons
of
Woodbury, CT, daughter, Elizabeth Goldstein of Panama, Central America,
son,
Charles Fears III of Scotch Plains, NJ, very dear friends, Emrie
Gottfried,
Linda Hanson and Chelsea Waters, two grandchildren, Daniel Emmons and
Thomas
Emmons, six step grandchildren, eleven step great grandchildren, many
other
relatives and friends also survive.
No services
are planned at this time. In lieu of

Sister
Juliette Marie Boyer age 89, passed away, formerly of Bristol CT<
she
resided with cousins, Patricia Matte, Lucy and her husband Paul Cislak
of
Blairsville, GA, until her death on Tuesday, march 24, 2009. sister Juliette was
a Catholic Nun for seventy-three years and was known for her servant’s
heart.
She
operated a religious organization known as “Our Lord and Savior
Community”
since 1976. Sister Juliette helped
countless homeless, poor land downhearted people throughout her
ministry and
became known as “Little Sister of the Poor.”
Her faith filled prayers, carried many people through times of
sickness
and hardship. Sister Juliette will be
greatly missed by those who loved her.
She is
survived by a brother, Henry Boyer of Vacaville, CA,
two sisters, Veronica McCarthy of Wilbraham, MA, and Mary Sanford of
San Diego,
CA. She also leaves several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
A graveside
service was held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Bristol, CT, on Tuesday,
March 31,
2009 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers if
you wish, donations would be appreciated and used to help purchase
medication
for elderly people who are poor. Please

Mr. Homer
Darrell Staines age 64 of Scooter Lane, Blairsville passed away on
Thursday,
March 19, 2009 at his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Staines was born on May 27, 1944 in
Moultrie, GA, the son of the late Homer S. Staines, and the late Marie
Allen
Staines. He is survived by his
step-mother Virginia Staines. Homer was
an avid fisherman. He was a loving
father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and was a friend to
many. Mr. Staines was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs.
Staines are four daughters and son in laws, Lesa and Daniel Byrd of
Blairsville, Kim and Alan Bridges of Blairsville, Suzan and Tim Sanford
of Port
St. Lucie, FL, Kristy and Joe Johnson of Wellington, FL, one sister and
brother-in-law, Brenda and Frank Stevens of lantana, FL, one brother
and
sister-in-law, Bill and Jeannette Johnson of Blairsville, six
grandchildren,
Kristen Baldwin, Jessica Odom, Cameron Sanford, Katrina Byrd, Chelsea
Odom and
Lindzey Sanford, two great grandchildren, Kaydee McClure and Mackenzie
Baldwin,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
Services for
Mr. Staines were held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 5 p.m. from the
Mountain
View Chapel with the Rev. George Cline officiating.
Special music was presented by Danita
Kennedy, Junior and Carolyn Bridges and Pat McCall.
Flowers are accepted or in lieu of flowers if
you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Regency
Hospice in
memory of Mr. Staines. The family will
