The
Henry Cochran Funeral Home announces the death and funeral services for
the
Rev. Eugene Parker, age 77, of Suches who passed away Sunday morning at
his
home. He was born in Fannin County
December 4, 1920, the son of the late Colman and Fannie may Edmondson
Parker. He was a WWII Veteran serving in
the Army. Rev. Parke was ordained into
the ministry January 9, 1953 at the Akron Baptist temple and had served
as
pastor of the Willscott Baptist Church for a number of years.
Survivors
include his wife, Ruth Ash Parker, daughter and son in law’s; Carolyn
and
Orlando Wilson of Woodstock, and Linda and Greg Walls of Kennesaw,
Georgia;
sisters, Helen Dillard of Columbia, S.C., Evelyn Fields of Canton,
Georgia;
brothers, Howard Parker of Marietta, and Barney Parker of Jonesboro,
Georgia;
four grandchildren, gene Wilson, Amber Walls, Stacy Wilson and Bethany
Walls;
nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Henry
Cochran
Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Tritt and Rev. Jim Woody officiating. Music was by the Willscott Baptist Church
Choir. Interment was in the Mt. Pleasant
Baptist Church Cemetery in Suches with full military honors by the
North
Georgia Honor Guard.
Pallbearers
were Benny Brookshire Frank Tipton, Benny Cross,
Gene Wilson, Potsie Porter, George Fields and Rodney Fields. Honorary pallbearers were Bymon Helton, James
Crawford, Gary Porter and Hastel Parker.
Interment
followed in
Henry Cochran Funeral Home in charge
of arrangements.

Mr. Frank
W. Twiggs, age 65, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, March
26,
1998.
Mr. Twiggs
was born July 13, 1932 in Cherokee County, North Carolina, a son of the
late
Jewell O. Twiggs and Lela Burch Twiggs.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Twiggs had lived most of his life in this area, although he
lived
and worked in Akron, Ohio for twenty-one years.
He was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving hare (sic) his wife, Mary Deaver
Twiggs, of the home;
daughters, Debra Lynn Twiggs and Patricia Ann McConahy, both of
Blairsville;
brother, Randall Twiggs of Blairsville; and sisters, Thelma McConnell
of
Acworth, GA. And Barbara Heiner of Akron, Ohio; grandson, Frank
James
Twiggs of Blairsville; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, March 28, 1998 at 2 p.m. from Ivy Log
Baptist
Church with Rev. Jerry Karnes officiating.
Special music was presented by Junior Puett and Michael Thompson. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Frank James Twiggs, Curtis McConahy, Neil McConnell, Ricky
Twiggs
Jim Twiggs, and Delaine Morris. Interment was in Ivy Log Baptist Cemetery.

Blane
Robert Henderson, age 76, of Young Harris, GA. died Friday, march
27, 1998 in a Union County Georgia Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was a
native of Union County, GA. He was a
retired construction worker. He was the
son of the late Jim and Cleo King Henderson.
He was preceded in death by a son Buster Lee Henderson.
Surviving
are his wife, Hazel Ruby Griggs Henderson; two sons, Wade and his wife
Sue
Henderson and Melvin Henderson, al of Young Harris, GA. and Marvin
Henderson of
the home; four daughters, Geraldine and her late husband Caswell Reece
of
Hayesville, N.C., Margie and her husband Billy Brown, Rita and her
husband Leo
Chastain and Sherry and her husband Mike McGaha, all of Young Harris,
GA.; one
brother, James Henderson of Atlanta, GA.; one sister, Millie Kimble of
Blairsville, GA.; five grandsons, Ricky Brown, Michael Chastain, Tony
Reece,
Daniel McGaha and Buck Henderson; four granddaughters, Tammy Thomas,
Marcella
Anderson, Christy McGaha and Pamela Brown; eight great grandchildren a
number
of nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, March 29, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Townson
Rose, Frank
Rose Sr. Memorial Chapel in Hayesville, N.C.
The Rev. Willis Garrett officiated.
Burial was in the Henderson Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Keith Thomas, Ricky Brown, Billy Joe Chastain,
Bass
Henderson, Jim Henderson and George Henderson.

Mr. Ivan
“Bee” Cobb, age 89, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday,
March 26,
1998 at his home.
Mr. Cobb
was born in Union County, Georgia, on August 19, 1908, a son of the
late Ivan
Cobb and Rebecca Odom Cobb. He lived
most of his life in Union County, and was a retired upholsterer. Mr. Cobb was a member of Confidence Methodist
Church, and was a member of Young Cane Masonic Lodge, #597, and was a
past
Master, serving in 1973.
Surviving
are his wife, Louetta Smith Cobb, of Blairsville; daughters, Marie
Adams of
Cleveland, Georgia; Irene Mong of Medina, Ohio; and Wanda Laseter, of
Blairsville; son, Roger Cobb, of Blairsville; half-sister, Jessie Woody
of
Morganton, Georgia, and Verdie Rhodes, also of Morganton; nine
grandchildren,
four great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, March 29, 1998 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of
Cochran
Funeral Home in Blairsville with Rev. Jimmy Rogers and rev. Benny Nix
officiating. Special music was presented
by Mrs. Odena
Gibson. Interment was in Union
Memory
Gardens Cemetery, with brethren of Young Cane Masonic Lodge serving as

Mrs.
Wanda Karan, age 78, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday,
March 25,
1998 in Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs. Karan
was born October 31, 1919, in Hudson County, New Jersey, a daughter of
the late
Matthew Cymer and Alexandria Banach Cymer.
She was a homemaker and had lived in the Blairsville area for
one and
one half years. Mrs. Karan had lived in
Vero Beach for twenty one years before moving to Blairsville. She was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving
are her husband, Frank Karan, of Blairsville; daughter, Michaela Kelly
of
Kirkville, NY; daughter, Elizabeth Rivenbark of Blairsville, and Diane
Diage,
of Blairsville; brother, Carol Cymer of Jersey City, New Jersey;
grandchildren,
Holly and Sarah Daige, Michael, Thomas, Mary and Robert Kelly.
Funeral mass
was held Saturday, March 28, 1998 at 11 a.m. from Cochran Funeral Home
Chapel
with Father Tim Gadziala officiating.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
Gearl Rivenbark, Dennis Daige, Shawn Rudd,
Shane Mullanack, Michael Kelly, Thomas Kelly, and Tom Kelly. Interment was in Union Memory Gardens
