Mrs.
Dovie
C. Plott, age 90, of Blairsville, GA., passed away Monday, March 24,
1997 at
her home.
Mrs.
Plott was born September 10, 1906 in Union County, a
daughter of the late Silas and Linda Lowe Chambers.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church. She was preceded in death by her
husband Mr. H.O. Plott.
Survivors
include son and daughter-in-law, Foyster and
Melanie Plott of Blairsville, GA.; sister, Jessie Rich of Blairsville;
grandson
and granddaughter-in-law, Wade and Brenda Plott of Blairsville;
granddaughter
and grandson-in-law Pam and Ronnie Abernathy of Blairsville; four
grandchildren, Travis Plott, Tyler Plott, Haley Abernathy, and Holli
Abernathy,
all of Blairsville; three step grandchildren and five step great
grandchildren;
many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, March 26, 1997 at 2 p.m. from the chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Horace Potts and Rev. Hughes Chatham
officiating. Music was by Kim Thomas and
Scott Lance and
Rhonda Culberson. Pallbearers were R.B.
Brown, Randy Brown, Royce Brown, Franklin Brown, David Rich and Anthony
smith. Honorary pallbearers were: Homer
Powell, Melvin Emerson, Allen Plott, John Blakely, Gene Hodgeson and
Randy
McClure. Interment
was in Pleasant Grove Baptist
Cemetery.

Mrs.
Willie
Young Murphy, age 72, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday,
March 27,
1997 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs. Murphy was born February 11, 1925 in Union County, Georgia,
a
daughter of the late Luther Young and Georgia Carney Young. She was a lifelong resident of this area and
she was a homemaker. Mrs. Murphy was a
member of Youngstown Baptist Church. She
was preceded in death by a son, Hoyt Murphy, in 1943, and her husband,
Gwin
Murphy, in 1986.
Surviving
are a daughter, Amalea Owenby, of Blairsville; sons, James Murphy,
Bobby
Murphy, Donald Murphy, all of Blairsville; daughters, Linda King and
Dale
Brown, both of Blairsville; son, Danny Murphy of Blairsville;;
daughter, Evelyn
Nichols, of Young Harris; daughter, Jeanette Turner of Blairsville;
brothers,
Pat Young and Otis Young, both of Blairsville; sister, Hattie Payne of
Blairsville; and fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and
several
nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, March
30, 2997 at 2 p.m. from Youngstown
Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Abernathy and Rev. Leon Henderson
officiating. Specially selected was
presented by Rev.
Charles Abernathy, Ned Wilcoxon, and Willaree Davenport.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Dennis King, David Murphy, Larry Young, Barry Young, Tim
Young,
and Jerry Brewer. Interment was in Union
memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr.
Charles
Fair Fox, age 91, of Rice Drive, Blairsville, GA., died Sunday, March
30, 1997
in a Murphy, N.C. nursing home.
He was a
native of Cherokee County, N.C. He had
worked as manager of Hampton’s
Hardware Store and was a self-employed carpenter. He
was a son of the late Mark Henderson and
Rachel Walker Fox and was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Akin
Fox.
He is
survived by three sons, William H. Fox of Young
Harris, GA., Don L. Fox and Gene M. Fox, both of Hiawassee, GA.; two
daughters,
Flora Nell Rice of Blairsville, GA. and Kathy Fox Powell of Arlington,
Texas;
three brothers, Howard Fox of Murphy, N.C., Herbert Fox of Marble, N.C.
and
Cecil Fox of Belmont, N.C.; one sister, Edith Fox Sutton of Asheville,
N.C.;
six grandchildren, Lee Fox, Dana Fox, Rex Rice, Rhonda Mason, Lora
Garrett and
Donna Manus Dyer; five great grandchildren and one great great
grandchild.
Funeral
services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 1997 at the Ranger
Baptist
Church, Murphy, N.C. where he was a member. The Rev. Ray Harper officiated.
Burial was in the Ranger Baptist
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Knox Garrett,
Jimmy Dyer, Rex Rice, Mack Mason, James Rice, Derick Rice and Lee
Beaver.
