MR. James d. potts

 

Mr. James D. Potts, age 72, of Capac, Michigan, passed away May 22, 1999 in Mount Clements General Hospital after an extended illness.  He was born March 29, 1927, to the late William and Mary Eliza (Reece) Potts in Blairsville, Georgia.  Mr. Potts retired from Fraser Upholstery.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel (Sabisch) Potts, of Capac, Michigan; one daughter, Debrah and Thomas Gunn, of Clinton Township, Michigan; two sons, Dwain and Tammy Potts of Melvin, Michigan and Robert and Rhonda Potts of Richmond, Michigan, two step-daughters, Leah and Gary Truance, of Bidwell, Ohio and Amanda and Bill Dailey, of Wellston, Ohio; tree step-sons, Earl Sprague of Muskegon, Michigan, Richard and Patricia Sprague, of McCombs, Michigan, and Michael Sprague of Fredrickson, Missouri and seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  Also surviving are former wife, Ella Mae (Queen) (Potts) Cook, of Sugar Hill, GA; three daughters, Patricia And Rev. Waymon Lovell, of Blairsville, GA; Elizabeth and Rev. Ben Burrell, of Blairsville and Lawanda and Randall Titishaw, of Sugar Hill, GA and one son, James William (J.W.) and Betty Potts of White, Georgia and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a step-grandson, Douglas Cochrane, a brother, Wymer Potts and a sister, Mary Lavona Duncan.

A memorial service was held on May 23, 1999 at 1 p.m. from the Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home in McCombs, Michigan, with Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating.

Graveside services were held April 6, 2000 at 4:3- p.m. at the Coosa United Methodist Church Cemetery in Blairsville, Georgia with Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating.  Special singers were Angela Burrell, Danica Ball and Jerry and Irene Mathis.  North Georgia Honor Guard performed Military Honors.

MRs. jacqueline susan krusniak

 

Mrs. Jacqueline Susan Krusniak, age 45, of Lower Trackrock Road, Blairsville, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2000.  Mrs. Krusniak was born on August 14, 1954 in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of Frank Vetter and Frances Tisdale Vetter.  She was employed at the Chestate Regional Hospital in Dahlonega and had worked at Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge.

Survivors include her husband, Tim Krusniak of Blairsville; father and mother, Frank and Frances Vetter of Forty Myers, FL.; one son, Charles Heath of Fort Myers, one sister, Dorothy Berry, six brothers, Richard, Frank, Tony, Joe, Nick and Charles Vetter, all of Fort Myers, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, march 31, 2000 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Fort Myers, FL.  In lieu of flowers if you with, the family requests that memorials may be made to your favorite charity in Susan’s memory.

MRs. johnnie lee pringle taylor

 

Mrs. Johnnie Lee Pringle Taylor, age 74, of Lloyd King Road, Blairsville passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2000 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. Taylor was born on March 24, 1926 in Bradenton, FL, the daughter of the late Lemuel Hardy Pringle and the late Bessie Ora Weeks Pringle.  She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Taylor in 1996.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Red Gay of Blairsville; one brother, Lemuel Hardy Pringle, Jr. of Hudson Falls, NY; two grandchildren, Robin Revell, Kristy Ward; two great grandchildren, Taylor Revell and Kennedy Revell, all of Florence, SC; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 1, 2000 from the Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. George Cline officiating.  Special music was presented by Patsy Davenport and Danita Owenby.  Interment and graveside services were held on Tuesday, April 4th at 2 pm from the Osprey Baptist Church Cemetery in Osprey, FL.

Mrs. doris b. herbert

 

Mrs. Doris B. Herbert, age 82, of Blairsville, GA. formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away Friday, March 31, 2000 in Union County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Herbert was born October 31, 1917 in Wilcox County, GA, a daughter of the late Roscoe M. and Maude Ward.  She was a member of Elam Baptist Church in Ludowici, GA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Herbert.

Survivors include: daughters, Carolyn Burghoff of Jefferson, GA, Joyce McLeod of Bushnell, FL, and Janet Ehster of Mt. Dora, FL; sons, Frank Herbert of Blairsville, GA, Michael Herbert of Richmond, VA, and David Herbert of Davie, FL; sister, Helen Tapley of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; eighteen grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Sunday, April 2, 2000 at 3:30 pm at Union Memory Gardens with Rev. Troy Acree officiating.

Mrs. ota l. melton

 

            Mrs. Ota L. Melton, age 84, of Pleasant Hill Road, Blairsville, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2000 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. Melton was born on June 8, 1915 in Dry Hill, KY, the daughter of the late Henry Lewis and the late Pearl Begley Lewis.

            Surviving Mrs. Lewis are two daughters, Bobbie Childers of Blairsville, Pat M. Jones of Blairsville; one son, Eddie Melton of Whitesburg, KY; three sisters, Laura Burgess, Mae Napier, Dorothy Weaton; two brothers, Gilbert Lewis, Donald Lewis; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

            Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 4, 2000 from the chapel of the Everidge Funeral Home at 11 am in Whitesburg, KY.  Interment followed in the Green Acres Cemetery in Ermine, KY.

Mrs. lucienne andre matz

 

            Mrs. Lucienne Andre Matz, age 83, of Lakeside Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2000 at her home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Matz was born on June 28, 1916 the daughter of the late Paul Frank and the late Betty Rossman Frank.

            Survivors include her loving husband of sixty two years, Michael Matz, of Blairsville; one daughter, Paulette Bowden, of Dahlonega; one son, Michael A. Matz, of Hampton Bays, NY; six grandchildren, Beau Michael Hull, Melani Hull, Thomas and Kelly Hull all of Dahlonega, Douglas Michael Matz, Audrey and Karen Matz, all of Long Island, NY, many other relatives and friends also survive.

            Funeral services were held on Friday, march 31, 2000 from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Tanner officiating.  Services were also held in Hampton Bays, NY where interment followed in the Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays.

Mrs. sarah thomas

 

            Mrs. Sarah Thomas, age 77, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, march 27, 2000 at Lanier Park Hospital in Gainesville, GA following a sudden illness.

            Mrs. Thomas was born in Tellico Plains, TN on October 29, 1922 a daughter of the late Ulyses and Janie (Hamby) Norwood.  She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church.  Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Naaman Thomas; children, Eward Thomas, Hank Benny Thomas, Nora Jane Thomas, Lonnie George Thomas, Jessie Lee Thomas, Janice Thomas; brothers, Archie Norwood, Dubert Norwood; sisters, Bessie Free, Bernice Carter; grandchildren, David Duckworth, Eddie Duckworth.

            Survivors include: children, Evelyn and Johnny Black of Lula, GA, Vella and Ray Orr of Gainesville, GA, Joe and Pearl Thomas of Lula, GA, Faye and Ed Duckworth of Blairsville, GA, Kathy and Manuel Arteaga of Homer, GA, Nancy and Jim Frankenberg of Lula, GA, Larry and Becky Thomas of Blairsville, GA, Judy and Ronnie Hughes of Blairsville, GA, and Angela and Phil Tallent of Morganton, GA; sister, Daisy Passmore of Tellico Plains, TN; brothers, Oughtly Norwood of Tellico Plains, TN, Haskell Norwood of Geraldine, AL, Bill Norwood of McEwen, TN, Gene Norwood of Dahlonega, GA; twenty four grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held on Wednesday, march 29, 2000 at 2 pm from Harmony Grove Baptist church with Rev. Waymon Lovell and Rev. James Brock officiating.  Music was provided by Randy Black and singers from Faith Baptist church.  Pallbearers were Joey Gibbs, David Pitts, Roger Orr, Steve Orr, Chris Biddy, and Wayne Croy.  Honorary pallbearers were Matthew Thomas and Cody Hughes.  Interment was in the church cemetery.
