Mrs.
Nancy Elizabeth Dyer, age 85, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, March 26, 1995 in Union
County
Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mrs. Dyer was born in Union County,
Georgia on August 16, 1909, a daughter of the late Charlie and Cordia
England
Mitchell. She was a homemaker and a
lifelong resident of our area. Mrs. Dyer
was a member of Pinetop Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Jane
Dyer of Blairsville; two sons, James Edward Dyer of Cumming, GA, and
Charles
Grady Dyer of Lawrenceville, GA; three grandchildren and two great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
March 28, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home with
Rev. Ray
Potts officiating. Kenneth and Elaine
Young presented music for the service. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: tony Dyer, Crett Dyer,
Woodrow Dyer,
Larry Dyer, Bradley Moore, and Doug Davenport.
Interment was in Pinetop Baptist Church Cemetery.

in charge of arrangements.

Mrs.
Mabel Bowers Waldroop, 88, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 1995 in R.T. Jones
Hospital in Canton, Georgia.
Mrs. Waldroop was born in Union
County, on June 26, 1906. She was the
daughter of the late William and Sallie Gillespie Bowers.
Mrs. Waldroop was a homemaker and was the
widow of the late Forest Waldroop. She
was a lifelong resident and a member of Coosa Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughter and
son-in-law, Vesta and Richard Byrd, of Woodstock, Georgia, and son and
Daughter-in-law (sic) Clyde W. And (sic) Eva Waldroop, of Blairsville;
sister
Bessie Harkins, of Blairsville; two sisters-in-law, Grace Bowers, of
Ashland,
Oklahoma, and Louise Hutson, of Young Harris, Georgia; grandson,
Richard
Waldroop and granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kathy and Tim
Henderson, all of
Blairsville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday,
March 30, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Funeral Home with
Rev. Clent
Boling and Rev. Willis Garrett officiating.
Music was presented for the service by the Faith Singers. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Dorsey Dockery, J.E. Corn, Edgar Mason, Alvin Long, Mac
Harkins,
and Tony Harkins. The following
gentlemen served as Honorary Escort to the family: J.E. Hutson, Larry
Hutson,
Alvin Garrett, Larry Garrett, Jake Bradley, and Ernest Harkins,
interment was
in Old Union Cemetery in Young Harris, Georgia.

Former
Union County Middle School student,
Randall David (Pouncey) passed away March 14th in Hillsborough County,
Florida,
when he crashed during an all-terrain vehicle accident.
As a professional ATV racer, he
ranked sixth in the nation two years ago in this competition class.
David
(Pouncey) was attempting a double-high jump and lost control of the
four wheel
1989 Honda, and was thrown from the bike and suffered severe head
injuries
according to published reports in the Tampa Times.
Randy (Pouncey) had raced for 10
years. Memorial services were held in
St. Petersburg at the First Baptist Church on March 18, 1995. Survivors from the Blairsville area include
David and Janice Pouncey, David Pouncey, Jr., and Royce Futch.
