mrs. margaret alice tholen

 

Mrs. Margaret Alice Tholen, age 74, of Misty Lane, Blairsville, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at her home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Tholen was born on November 17, 1930 in Ft. Wayne, IN, the daughter of the late Frank Brower and the late Una Beagle Brower.  She had lived in Ft. Wayne, IN for fifty years before moving to Naples, FL, where she resided until 1989 and then moved to union County.  She was preceded in death by a son, David Charles Tholen in 1971.  Mrs. Tholen attended Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Tholen are her loving husband of fifty-four years, Charles Tholen of Blairsville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Alan and Sherri Tholen of Blairsville, Steve Tholen of Chicago, IL; one sister, Donna Jean Anderson of Ft. Wayne; five grandchildren, Amy and Bill Simpson of Delaware, OH, Ryan Tholen of Blairsville; Jodi and Mondrae Abbott of Grenada, West Indies, Jason Tholen and Chad Tholen both of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m. from the Lakeside Village Club House, with the rev. George Cline officiating.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice of N.E. GA, P.O. Box 494, Hiawassee, GA 30546 in Mrs. Tholenís memory.

mrs. mayadell louise amacher

 

Mrs. Mayadell Louise Amacher, age 84, of Dean Gap Road, Blairsville, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2005 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Amacher was born on August 8, 1920 in Shortsville, NY the daughter of the late Joseph Reubens.  She and her husband Robert had made their home in Blairsville for the past fifteen years.  Mrs. Amacher was of the Presbyterian faith.

Surviving Mrs. Amacher are her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Robert William Amacher of Blairsville, one daughter, Dana Kay Cassell of N. Stratford, NH, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard and Seiko Amacher of Charlotte, NC, Joseph Amacher of Stuart, FL, Gary and Sharon Amacher of Zephyrhills, FL, four brothers, Lloyd Reubens of Palmetto, FL, Bill Reubens of Zephyr, FL, Bob Reubens of Olympia, CA, and Harold Reubens of Ransomville, NY, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, many other relatives and friends also survive.

No services are planned as this time.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Lung Association in Mrs. Amacherís memory.

miss margot goerke

 

Miss Margot Goerke, age 68, of Rockaway Beach, NY passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2005 in Blairsville, following an extended illness.  Miss Goerke was born on April 19, 1936 in Hamburg, Germany, the daughter of the late F. Goerke and the late A. Bartman Goerke.  Our dear and longtime friend Margot residing in New York and for the past four weeks residing in Blairsville passed away after a battle with cancer.  She had no pain and we fell very privileged that she let us take care of her.  She will be missed by many friends.

Surviving Miss Goerke are one sister, Inge Stricker of Germany, god child and her fiance, Cynthia Muller and Steve Geffon of Red Bank, NJ, very special friends, Henna and Vince Karavitch of Blairsville, Gloria and Walter Muller of Bonita Springs, FL, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services were held on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 7 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Dr. Benny Erwin officiating.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice, P.O. Box 494, Hiawassee, GA 30546 in Miss Goerkeís memory.

georgia mae leonard vernon

 

Georgia Mae Leonard Vernon, age 86, of Blairsville, GA, formally of Winston-Salem, NC widow of Woodrow Wilson Vernon passed away April 2, 2005 at Union General Hospital, Blairsville, GA.

She was born on January 6, 1919 in Carroll County, VA to the late Harrison Leonard and Dovia King Leonard.  She was retired from the produce business and was a member of the House of Prayer Church in Blairsville.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Anderson and Harry of Blairsville, GA.

Two grandchildren, Cass Vernon and Steven Anderson.

Five great granddaughters, Ashlyn, Hannah and Haley Vernon, Madison and Hannah Anderson.

Three sisters, Agnus Shelton of Pilot Mountain, Dot Vernon and husband Hurley of Cana, VA and Juanita Edwards of Cana, VA.

Several nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, James and Helen Vernon of Lewisville, NC, Ethel Vernon, Cana, VA.

In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Vernon was preceded in death by two sons, Bill and Ronnie Vernon, three brothers, Harley, Joe and Everett Leonard.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church with services conducted by Elder Eugene Gunter and Pastor Jerry Helton with burial in the church cemetery.

mr. charles joseph peter schiavoni

 

Mr. Charles Joseph Peter Schiavoni, age 64, of Hamilton Road, Blairsville, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mr. Schiavoni was born on January 31, 1941 in Cleveland, OH, the son of the late Anthony Romeo Schiavoni and the late Angela Vaccariello Schiavoni.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He had retired from the Broward County School system where he taught school for over thirty years.  Mr. Schiavoni was a member of the House of Prayer Church.

Surviving Mr. Schiavoni are his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Judith Guthleben Schiavoni of Blairsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Guiomary Schiavoni of Boynton, FL; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Orlando and Hallie Schiavoni of Willoughby Hills, OH, Anthony and Kathryn Schiavoni of Little River, SC; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Abbie and Wayne Pacholke of Rock Creek, OH, Sandra and David Sacash of Phoenixville, PA, Carmela and Montie Patchin of Painesville, OH, Dominic and Pamela Vaccareillo of Jefferson, OH; one grandson, Robert Charles Schiavoni of Boynton Beach, FL, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Services were held on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the House of Prayer Church with the Rev. Jerry Helton and Rev. Bill Schakat officiating.  Special music was presented by Darryl Flake and Mindy Combs.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family request that memorials may be made to the House of Prayer Church Family Life Center Building Fund in Mr. Schiavoniís memory.
