jerry frances dyer

 

Mrs. Jerry Frances Dyer, age 67, of Haralson Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mrs. Dyer was born on May 7, 1939 in Fulton County, GA, the daughter of the late Louis parker and the late Lelia DeLong Parker.  She had worked as a Care Giver in the county for several years.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Freeman.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.  Mrs. Dyer was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Dyer are her loving husband of forty-six years, Gordon Dyer of Blairsville; two sons and one-daughter-in law, Greg Dyer of Atlanta and Brian and Andrea Dyer of Lawrencville; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Martha Miller of Donaldsonville, GA, Ann Reagan of Blairsville, Carolyn and Teddy Wilson of Decatur, GA; uncle, Ralph DeLong of Roswell, GA; one grandson, Elijah Dyer; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 6, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Keith Jones and rev. Ron Morgan officiating.  Special music was presented by the Kelley Trio.  Interment followed in the Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation in Mrs. Dyer’s memory.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m.

mary delores martinez

 

Mrs. Mary Delores Martinez, age 64, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Union General Hospital following in Blairsville.  Mrs. Martinez was born Saturday, September 12, 1942 in Moultrie, GA, to the late Clyde Burdett and Mary Wimberly Burdett.  Mrs. Martinez was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church and was also active in the women’s Missionary Union.  Mrs. Martinez and her husband had been living in Blairsville since 2004, moving here from Sarasota, FL.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Burdett.

Survivors include: husband, Buck Martinez, of Blairsville; Mother, Mary Burdett of East Point, GA; sons, Johnny Allen, Kevin Allen, and daughter, Belisa Allen, al of Douglasville, GA; brothers: Larry Burdett of Whitesburg, GA, and Neal Burdett of Atlanta, GA; granddaughters: Meghann Mooney, Brittany Allen and LeAnn Allen; grandsons: Grant Mooney, Steven Allen, Thomas Allen and Alexander Allen.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 11: a.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Zollinger and Rev. Darwin A. Caldwell officiating.  Music was provided by Rev. Darwin A. Caldwell.  Interment followed in Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Friday April 6.

brandy lee dyer zipperer

“The one who touched so many.”

 

Mrs. Brandy Lee Dyer Zipperer, age 28, of Guyton, GA formerly of Blairsville, GA passed away April 3, 2007 at memorial Hospital in Savannah, GA.  She was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Blairsville, GA and was employed at Gulfstream Aerospace.

Her survivors include her husband Chad William Zipperer; son Cohen Phillip Zipperer; mother & father, Judy & Larry Payne from Blairsville, GA and Perry & Rosie Dyer from Blairsville, GA; sister & brother-in-law, Colleen & John Treworgy, brother Benjerman Allen Dyer; step-sister, Felicia Dyer; grandparents, Maggie Nelson and the late Homer Nelson and Opal Dyer and the late Duane Dyer; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.  Visitation was 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral Services were held Friday, April 6, 2007 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Rincon.  Pallbearers were her ball Team.  Interment was in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to the Cohen Phillip Zipperer Trust Fund, c/o mail teller, United Community Bank, P.O. Box 398, Blairsville, GA 30514.

clyde donald “don” fisher

 

Mr. Clyde Donald “Don” Fisher, age 81, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.  Mr. Fisher was born Friday, December 11, 1925 in Mildale, TN, to the late James Boyd Fisher and the late Rosa Lee Fyke Fisher.  He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1951, and later, his Master’s degree.  He was a Specialist 3 in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, serving for several months in Munich, Germany, with the 42nd Medical Company.  Don married Marcella Estella Humphries on February 4, 1953 in Knoxville, TN.  They moved to Blairsville in 1958, when he accepted employment with the University System of Georgia Experiment Station as an Agronomist (Soil Scientist).  He retired from the Experiment Station in July 1989.  Don became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses when he was baptized on December 8, 1975.  He continued faithful to his God, Jehovah, as a minister of the good news until his death on April 7, 2007.

Survivors include: wife, Marcie Fisher of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Michael Borman of Spring Hill, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jeff Hay of Dublin, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Laurence and Stacy Rogers Fisher of Blairsville; daughter, Clara Fisher of Blairsville; grandchildren, Alisha Hay, Jared Hay, Amelia Hay, Michele Borman and Nathan Borman and great-grandchild, Alyana Swint.

Memorial services were held Monday, April 9, 2007 at 7 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home with Elder Wayne Visage officiating.  Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, from Elmwood Cemetery in Springfield, TN.

gerogie arminda white

 

Mrs. Georgie Arminda White, age 70 of Murphy Hwy. Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. White was born on February 20, 1937 in Fannin County, GA, the daughter of the late James M. Conner and the late Levie O’Neal Conner.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Weldon White; brothers, Hoyt, Columbus, Wilson and Wilburn Conner; step-brothers, Clyde and Claude Patterson, and one sister, Rannie White.  She was a lifelong resident of Union County.  Mrs. White was a member of New Liberty Baptist church.

Surviving Mrs. White are one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Donna White of Blairsville; two daughters and one-son-in-law, Lillian Byers of Yong Harris, Mary and Raymond Byers of Blairsville; one brother, Audalle Conner of Blue Ridge; five grandchildren, Bobby Williams, R.L. Byers, DeBronda Byers, Jonathan Byers and Jesse White; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 9, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the New Liberty Baptist Church with the rev. Brent Chatham and Rev. Jay Lynch officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Tommy McAuliffe, Rusty Greenway, Terry White, William Carpenter, Rodney Collins, Robert Duckworth, Jimmy Pickelsimer and Jesse White.    Interment followed in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that donations be made to help with medical and funeral expenses.
