mr. earl h. thompson

 

Mr. Earl H. Thompson, age 74, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Brooksville, FL, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2005.

Mr. Thompson was a native of Hernando County, FL, and was a U.S. Air force veteran, and served in the Korean conflict.  He was a member of North Mt. Zion Church of God in Hiawassee, GA.  Preceding Mr. Thompson in death was a son, David Thompson, and two sisters, Bertie Garrett and Helen Thomas.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Thompson, of Blairsville; two sons: Stephen Thompson, of Decatur, GA, Jeff Walker of Hiawassee, GA; and two daughters: Tonja Walker-Felage of Inverness, FL, and Denise Langley of Spring Hill, FL; a sister, Lois Guin of Brooksville, FL; seven grandchildren: Tiffany Thompson, Ashley Thompson, Jeffrey Walker Allen, Stephanie Walker Allen, Kayla Walker, Megan Walker, Trae Holiway.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 10 a.m., from Merritt Funeral Home in Brooksville, FL with Rev. John Davis and Rev. Raburne Wilson officiating.  Burial was in Lake Lindsey Cemetery, in Brooksville.

mr. william harold dyer

 

Mr. William Harold Dyer, age 67, of Blairsville, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005 in the North East Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.

Mr. Dyer was born November 15, 1937 in Union County, GA, a son of the late Rance and Allie (Dial) Dye.  He had lived in Kentucky for several years, but had moved back to Blairsville in 2003.  Mr. Dyer was a member of Sharp Missionary Baptist Church in Benton, KY, but attended Old Liberty Baptist Church in Blairsville.  He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.  Mr. Dyer was also preceded in death by a sister, Louise Melson.

Survivors include: wife, Judith Dyer of Blairsville, GA; son, Keith and Davine Dyer of Gulfport, MS; brother, James Dyer of Fayetteville, GA; brother, Wayne Dyer of Charleston, SC; brother, Roy Dyer of Lexington, GA; brother, Alvin Dyer of Blairsville, GA; sister, Florence Baxley of Blairsville, GA; grandson, Jason and Peggy Dyer of Gulfport, MS; step granddaughter, Moriah Daniels of Gulfport; step grandson, Brandon Daniels of Gulfport.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Harley Hunter officiating.  Interment was in Pine Top Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers were: Preston Wallace, Calvin Collins, Calvin Hood, Troy Collins, Herbert Dyer, F.C. Collins.  Honorary pallbearer was Doug Dyer.

mr. a.l. “fate” tow

 

Mr. A.L. “Fate” Tow, age 92, of Suches, GA died Friday, April 8, 2005 at the Mountain Healthcare Center in Jasper, GA following an extended illness.

Mr. Tow was born in White County, GA, April 25, 1912 and lived most of his life in Union County.  He was a heavy equipment operator and was of the Baptist faith.

He was the son of the late Jerry Martin Tow and Sarah Caldwell Tow and was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Fannie Holloway Tow; a daughter, Birtie Lou Tow; sisters: Mary Griffin and Martha Popham; and brothers: Harton Tow and Jessie Tow.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Aulden and Pauline Tow, Cleveland, GA; daughters: Iva Lee Gooch, Suches, GA; Linda Lois Tritt, Kennesaw, GA; and Joyce roper, Dahlonega, GA; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and a large number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral serves were scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA with Rev. Danny Jarrard officiating. 

Interment followed in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Union County.

charles “chase” william honaker III

 

Charles (Chase) William Honaker III, was stillborn on April 7, 2005 at Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge, GA.  Chase was the son of Chuck and Barbara Honaker of Blairsville, and the brother of David, Danny, Will, Jessika and Michelle.  He was the grandson of Bill and Bobbie Honaker of Blairsville, and Claude and Edna Landrum of Dallas, GA.  He has many other relatives who also loved him.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 1 p.m. from The House of Prayer Church Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Helton officiating.

mrs. gladys l. coleman

 

Mrs. Gladys L. Coleman, age 90, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.

Mrs. Coleman was born in Levy County, FL, on Saturday, October 10, 1914, a daughter of the late Gilbert and Lou Ella (Fralichs) Purvis.  She had lived in Blairsville since 1997, coming here from Orlando, FL.  Mrs. Coleman was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Orlando.  She had been preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Coleman, and a daughter, Jean Wood.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Joyce Aman, of Blairsville, GA; granddaughter and her husband, Gwenith and Tom McKee, of Tallahassee, FL; grandson and his wife, mark and Kathy Wood, of Colorado Springs, CO; grandson and his wife, Wes and Melissa Aman, Jr., of Winter Garden, FL; grandson and his wife, Christ and Candace Aman of Kannapolis, NC: grandson and his wife, David and Kelsie Aman of Chiefland, FL; great grandson, Matthew McKee; great granddaughter and her husband, Mary and Mike Pollard; great granddaughter, Michaela Aman; great grandson, Taylor Evans; and great great granddaughter, Amber Pollard.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. from the Highland Memory Gardens in Forest City, FL with Rev. Allen Higginbotham officiating.
