Mrs.
Louetta Cobb, age 87, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, April 12,
1999 in
Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs. Cobb
was born in Overton County, Tennessee, on Wednesday, November 15, 1911, a daughter of the late Floyd Smith and Ida Mae
martin
Smith. She was a homemaker and
was the widow of the late Ivan “Bee” Cobb, who passed away March 26,
1998. Mrs. Cobb had lived in Blairsville
since
1954, and she was a member of Confidence Methodist Church.
Surviving are
her daughters: Marie Adams, of Cleveland, GA; Irene Mong, of Mediana,
Ohio; and
Wanda Laster, of Blairsville; son, Roger Cobb, Blairsville; brother
Wilbur C.
Smith, of Livington, TN; and half sister: Ina Dean England, also of
Livingston;
9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, April 15, 1999 at 3
p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev
Benny Nix
and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Special
music was presented by Mrs. Odens Gibson and the Liberty Choir. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Jerry Roberts, John Evans,
Richard
Wheeler, James Grizzle, Gary McNarmara, David Abercrombie, and Randy
Brown. Interment was in Union Memory
Gardens Cemetery.

Robert “Bobby” Harkins, age 63, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Friday,
April 16, 1999 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr. Harkins
was born
in Union County, Georgia, on Friday, October 11, 1935, a son of the
late Johnny
Harkins and Della Patterson Harkins. He
was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of Philadelphia
Baptist
Church. Mr. Harkins was employed by the
Union County Board of Education as custodian.
Surviving are
brother and sister in law: A.J. and LaVerne Harkins, of Smyrna, GA;
sister and
brother in law, Hazel and George Buchanan, of Blairsville, nieces,
Angela Jay
of Marietta, Yvonne Hogan, of Roswell, and nephews, Eric Buchanan, of
Forsyth,
GA; many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, April 18, 1999 at 2 p.m.
from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, with Rev. Cecil
Dutton officiating. Special music was
presented by The Faith
Singers. The following gentlemen
served
as pallbearers: Jerry Dispane, James Hogan, Justin Hogan, Eric
Buchanan,
Jonathan Buchanan, and Eugene Warren. Interment
was in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr.
Wilson M. Earnest, age 81, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Thursday, April
15, 1999 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr. Earnest
was born in Walker County, Alabama on Friday, August 10, 1917, a son of
the
late Windom Houston Earnest and Ethel Maude Mims Earnest.
He had been employed as a department manager
for the telephone industry. Mr. Earnest
had moved to Blairsville from Brandon, Florida, and had lived here
part-time
since 1980, and full-time since 1993. He
was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, and had served as
a deacon
in Baptist Churches since 1958.
Surviving are
his wife, Lucile Earnest, of Blairsville; son and daughter in law, Rev.
William
and Hazel Earnest, of Blairsville; brother, John Robert Earnest, of
jasper,
Alabama; sisters: Sarah heard, of Columbus, GA; Martha McAdams, of
Cardova,
Alabama; and jean Williams, of Jasper, Alabama; grandchildren and their
spouses: Kim Elizabeth and John Anderson, of Acworth, GA; William
Wilson and
Wendy Earnest, and Rev. David Glenn and Julia Earnest; 3 great
granddaughters.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, April 17, 1999 at 11
a.m. from the original sanctuary of First Baptist Church with Rev.
Danny Paris
and Rev. William Earnest officiating.
Special music was presented by Rev. David Earnest.
Interment was in oak Hill Cemetery in jasper,
Alabama.

Mrs.
Carolyn Lona King Patterson, age 57, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed
away
Thursday, April 8, 1999 in Jamaica.
Mrs.
Patterson was born on Thursday, August 28, 1941, in Stephens County,
Georgia, a
daughter of the late James Marvin King and Odell Dailey King. She was a case worker with The Department of
Family and Children Services, and had lived in the Blairsville area for
the
past 20 years. Mrs. Patterson was
preceded in death by a son, Matt Patterson, in 1990, and a sister,
Dorothy Ann
Crane, in 1993.
Surviving are
her son, Andy Patterson, of Blairsville, sister, Ida Welliver, of
Austell, GA;
nieces: Lynda Moore of Jonesboro, GA; Jeanne Dawson, of Mableton, GA;
Barbara
Bennett of Austell, GA; and nephew, mark Welliver of Mableton; several
great
nieces and great nephew also survive.

services were held Saturday, April 17, 1999 at 12
noon from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, with Rev.
Jerry
Helton officiating. The enlogy was
presented by Mrs. Ida Welliver. The

Johanna Minna Detels Meinen, age 98, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed

Mrs. Meinen
was a native of Germany, and had lived here since 1992, coming here
from Port
Richie, Florida. She was a member of
Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Morganton, Georgia.

Hughes Chatham, age 67, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday,
April
14, 1999 at his home, following an extended illness.
Rev Chatham
was born in Gwinnett County, Georgia on Saturday, August 29, 1931, a
son of
Mabel Tilley Chatham and the late Lee Roy Chatham.
Rev. Chatham had lived in Buford,
Georgia. He served as the pastor of
Zebulon Baptist Church for 28 years, and was the Union County EMA
director for
33 years.
Surviving are
his wife, Margaret Chatham, of the home; his mother, Mabel Chatham, of
Buford,
GA; daughters: Sherry Cod, of Blairsville; Denise Bradburn, of Blue
Ridge;
Alice McDonald, of Blairsville; Teena Atkins, of Blairsville; and
Amanda
Thomas, of Blairsville; sons: David Chatham, of Blairsville; Lee
Chatham, of
Lawerenceville, GA. Rev. Brent Chatham,
of Blairsville; sister, Jean Payne, of Sugar Hill, Georgia; 22
grandchildren, 5
great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends also
survive.

services were held Thursday, April 15, 1999 at 1
p.m. from Zebulon Baptist Church, with Rev. Brent Chatham, rev. David
Atkins,
and Rev. Leon McDonald officiating. Special

Mr.
Robert Paul Cavanaugh, age 78, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Saturday,
March 27, 1999. Mr. Cavanaugh had been a
resident of Union County for the past 7 years.
Mr.
Cavanaugh was born Monday, December 6, 1920, in Rock, Minnesota, a son
of the
late Arthur Joseph Cavanaugh, and Frances Irene Ferguson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served
during WW II. Mr. Cavanaugh had been
living in Blairsville since 1982. He was
a member of grace Community Church, in Blairsville, and was an adult
leader
with BSA. He was preceded in death by a
son, William Frank Cavanaugh.
Surviving
are his wife, Lorraine Cavanaugh, of Blairsville; son, Robert Paul
Cavanaugh,
II; and son, Michael Arthur Cavanaugh,
of Los Angeles; CA; daughter, Kathleen Lorranie Cavanaugh, Tampa,
FL=la.; and
brother, Wallace Joseph Cavanaugh, of Newsberry Park, California; 4
grandchildren and 1 great grandchild also survive.
Memorial
services are scheduled for Friday, April 23rd at
1:30 p.m. from the Grace Community Presbyterian Church in Blairsville.
