Miss
Evelyn Mauney, age 83, a native and lifelong resident of Blairsville,
GA,
passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Union County Nursing Home in
Blairsville. Miss Mauney was born
Monday, June 2, 1924 in Union County, GA, to the late Bascom Mauney
and the late Beedie Davenport Mauney.
She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her sister
and brother, Louise Bradley and Harrell Mauney.
Survivors
include: nieces and nephews, Dennis Bradley, Kenneth Bradley, Sandy
Bradley,
Milton Bradley and Janet Harkins, all of Blairsville; James Mauney of
Ontario,
OR, Amy Mauney Grubbs of Warner Robbins, GA; and sister-in-law, Ruth
Mauney. many
other relatives
and friends also survive.
Graveside
services were held Wednesday, April 16th at 4 p.m.
from the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery with the rev. Tommy Seay
officiating. Serving as pallbearers were
the following
gentlemen: Dennis Bradley, Kenneth Bradley, Milton Bradley, Matthew
Bradley,
Tayler Harkins and Tucker Harkins. The
family received friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday,
April 16.

Mr.
Gustav Coupanger, Jr., age 78, of Orbit Dr., Blairsville passed away on
Friday,
April 4, 2008 at his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Coupanger was born on April 28, 1929 in
Fort Lauderdale, FL, the son of the late Gustav Coupanger, Sr. and the
late
Nell Hudlow Coupanger. He retired in
1994 form Broward General medical Center with 39 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Coupanger was a member of All Saints
Episcopal Church, Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Surviving Mr.
Coupanger are his loving wife 46 years, Sandra Coupanger of
Blairsville; one
son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Tammy Coupanger of Pompano Beach,
FL; one
grandson, Jerry Ayers.
A memorial
service will be held at a later date in Florida. In
lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family
requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice in memory of Mr.
Coupanger.

Lee Bridges, age 79, of Morganton, GA, formerly of Blairsville, GA,
passed away
Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Heritage Health Care Of
Blue Ridge. Mr. Bridges was born
Saturday, December 1, 1928 in Union County, GA to the late Wilson and
Mae
Nicholson Bridges. He was a member of
the Independent Order off Odd Fellows and was an Army M.P. veteran
during the
Korean Conflict, was retired from Alltel Telephone Co.
He was preceded in death by wife Opal Dillard
Bridges, sisters, Bonnie Thomas and Fannie Lee Bohannon.
Survivors
include: daughter & son-in-law,
Debbie and Robert Pierce of Morganton, GA; son & daughter-in-law,
Franklin
and Mandy Bridges of Gainesville, GA; granddaughter and husband,
Melissa and
Tim Sosebee; granddaughter and husband, Stephanie and Vinh Le;
great-grandsons,
Ryley Sosebee, Aidan Le and Chad Sisum several nieces and nephews
survive.

services were held Friday, April 18, 2008 at 5 p.m.

Mrs.
Renate Sophie Fording, age 73, of Fairview Ave., Blairsville passed
away on
Sunday, April 13, 2008 in the Union General Hospital following a brief
illness. Mrs. Fording was born on December
1, 1934 in
Germany, the daughter of the late Hedwig Knocche Reichhold. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Harry William Fording and a grandson, David Brannon.
Mrs. Fording was a member of All Saints
Lutheran church of Blairsville.
Surviving Mrs.
Fording are one daughter, Elizabeth Rivera of Port St. Lucie, FL; two
sons and
one daughter-in-law, ken and Sharon Brannon of Williston, FL, Steve
Brannon of
Archer, FL; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Adrian, Rachel, Matthew and
Jeffery; many
other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date and will be
announced. In lieu of flowers, if

Mrs.
Ruth Nellie Anderson, age 74, of Blue Ridge Hwy., Blairsville passed
away on
Friday, April 18, 2008 in the Union County Nursing Home following an
extended
illness. Mrs. Anderson was born on
February 7, 1934 in Union County, the daughter of the late Harvey Ross
and the
late Bessie Colwell Ross. She was a
native and life long resident of Union County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Anderson in
2006 and a
sister, Imogene Mullis. Mrs. Anderson
was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Anderson are three sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Lori
Anderson
of St. Petersburg, FL, Ronnie and Sharon Anderson of Blairsville and
Jerry
Anderson of Blairsville; one sister, June Chandler of Arizona; four
grandchildren, Brandon, Briana, Cody, raven Anderson and Jonathan
McClure; one
great-grandchild, Jaiden Anderson; daughter-in-law, Betty McClure;
nieces,
nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 11 .m.
from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Michael Anderson officiating. Special music was presented by Ned Wilcoxin,
Kelley Brewer, Howard Brys and Ralph Grice.

Anderson, Charles Turner, Raymond King, Kenneth Brendle and Matthew
Anderson. Interment followed in the

Finnie Hellums and the late Lillian M. Pennington Hellums.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
James Bruckner Chase, Sr. in 2003. Mrs.
Chase was of the Christian faith.

Gina Kay Brown, age 43, of Ed King Rd., Blairsville passed away on

was born on December 12, 1964 in Union County, the daughter of Betty

Foster Smith and the late Herbert (Hadacol) Claude Smith.
Gina was a loving wife, mother and
daughter. She was preceded in death by
her father, Herbert Smith in 2006. Mrs.
Brown was a member of new Union Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Brown are her loving and devoted husband, Robby Brown of
Blairsville; one
son, Brandon Brown of Blairsville; mother, Betty Jean Smith of
Blairsville;
cousins, aunts, uncles and many other relatives and friends also
survive.

p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Harrison Bradley, Rev.

Chatham and Rev. Larry Shope officiating.

Eddie Tanner, Darren Reynolds and Dwaine Brackett.
