Mr.
Eugene Warren,
age 75, of Bunker Hill Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Tuesday, April
19, 2011
at his home following an extended illness. Mr.
Warren was born on June 5, 1935 in Suches,
GA, the son of the late Arvil Warren and the late Ethel Grizzle Warren.
Eugene retired from the Flowers Bakery in
1996
after several years of service. He
enjoyed being outdoors. He was a loving
father, brother, grandfather and great- grandfather. He
was preceded in death by his wife, Carol
Hollis Warren in July 22, 2002, his parents Arvil in May 9, 2003 and
Ethel in
1981, brothers, Stancil in June 30, 1977, Earl in October 28, 2005,
Junior in
October 30, 2008 and Rufus in August 24, 2009. Mr.
Warren attended Philadelphia Baptist
Church.
Surviving
Mr. Warren
are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bobby Warren of Austell, GA,
Phillip and
Sandy Warren of Silver Creek, GA, one brother and sister-in-law, Paul
and
Evelyn Warren of Blairsville, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and
Burless
Pickelsimer of Chatsworth, Faye and Marshall Pangle of Dalton, three
sisters-in-law,
Ruby Warren Hogsed and Lee Ruth Warren of Blairsville, Corliss Warren
of
Douglasville, grandchildren, Jason Warren, Brittney and B.J. Brock and
Zachary
Warren, two great- grandchildren, Dylon and Addyson, several nieces,
nephews,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were
held on Friday, April 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the Mountain View Chapel
with the
Rev. Worth Chastain officiating. Special
music was presented by Dorothy Pickelsimer. The
following gentleman served as pallbearers,
Terry, Michael, Anthony, Marcus, Todd and Jeremy Warren, B.J. Brock and
Ronnie
Howell. Interment followed in the
Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. The
family met with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday and Thursday
evening
from 6-9 p.m.

Mrs.
Myrtle Fortenberry Hood, age 63, of Pond Rd., Blairsville, passed away
on
Saturday, April 23, 2011 in the Union General Hospital following an
extended
illness. Mrs. Hood was born on April 12,
1948 in Union County, the daughter of the late Edmond Fortenberry and
the late
Dora Phillips Fortenberry. She was a
native and lifelong resident of Union County. Myrtle
enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and
planting flowers. She was preceded in
death by her first husband, Harold Hood in 1995 and also by two
brothers,
Donald and T.N. Fortenberry. Mrs. Hood
was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Hood are one son, Brian Hood of Blairsville, two sisters, Montine
Burke of
Fountain, FL, Frankie Carney of Blairsville, one brother and
sister-in-law,
Bruce and Marie Fortenberry of Calhoun, GA, several nieces, nephews,
cousins,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Special
music was presented by Ned Wilcoxon,
Kelley Brewer and Ralph Grice. The
following gentleman served as pallbearers, Jeff Fortenberry, Jonathan
Fortenberry, Franklin Carney, Lee Carney, Jack Brown and Waymon Morgan.
Interment followed in the Union Baptist
Church
Cemetery. The family met with friends at

Mrs.
Cletus M. Ehrlacher, age 97, of Wesley
Mtn. Drive, Blairsville, GA, formerly of Tampa, FL, passed away on
Tuesday,
April 19, 2011 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended
illness. Mrs. Ehrlacher was born on
March 16, 1914 in Bermuda, AL, the daughter of the late John R. Morris
and the
late Maggie E. Henderson Ehrlacher. She
was a cosmetologist for over twenty years in the Tampa area. She was a fifty year member and Past Matron
of the Eastern star. She was a loving
mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ehrlacher and by
three
sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Ehrlacher
was a member of the Seminole Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Ehrlacher are one son
and daughter-in-law, Joseph R. and Jenny Adams of Blairsville, three
grandchildren, Joseph Adams Jr., Jennifer Hood and John Adams, three
great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and
friends
also survive.
A memorial service will be held on
Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Branan Lodge with the Rev.
Warren
Shields officiating. In lieu of flowers
if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the
American
Cancer society in memory of Mrs. Ehrlacher.

Jackson Thomas, 101, of Dahlonega
passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 at her residence following a period
of
declining health.
Born April 1, 1910 in Union County
to the late Fate and Nora Jackson, she had lived in Lumpkin County for
the past
6 years having moved from Lilburn. A
homemaker at her death, she was married to the late Rev. Loy Thomas for
58
years where she was dedicated to his ministry while he served as pastor
of 10
churches in the North Georgia area. Mrs.
Thomas was also preceded in death by her sisters, Carrie Aiken, Bulah
Jackson;
and brothers, Carl Jackson and Max Jackson.
Surviving are her son and
daughter-in-law, Wayne and Verdell Thomas, Ellijay; sisters, Fannie Mae
Robinson, Douglasville, Thelma L. Cope, Dalton, Maxine Bryson,
Nicholesville;
brother, Ray Jackson, Chatsworth; grandchildren, Jeff and Pam Thomas,
Lilburn,
Keith and Cerena Thomas, Dahlonega; great-grandchildren, Christy
Thomas, Katlin
Sims, Josh Thomas, Carissa Thomas, Timothy Thomas, Laura Thomas; and a

retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company with over twenty-five years

husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his first wife,
Della Mae Jackson Payne. Mr. Payne was a

Gloria Solis Saldana, age 68, of Kings Rd., Blairsville, formerly of

born on September 10, 1942 in Morelos, Mexico, the daughter of the late

Solis and the late Lucia Saldana. Gloria
enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking and sewing. She
was a loving mother, sister and
grandmother. She was preceded in death
by her husband, Fidel Reyes Juarez in 1996 and also by a brother,
Francisco
Solis Saldana. Mrs. Saldana was a member
of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Ben “Randy” Howard, 52, of Commerce, GA died
Sunday, April 17, 2011 as the result of a motorcycle accident. He
was a
native of Blairsville, GA. Randy was owner and operator of R.B.
Howard
Services, where he was a safety inspector for independent
companies. He
was a member of Kingtown Baptist Church in McCaysville, GA. He
enjoyed
sail boating, motorcycle riding, and traveling.
He
was the son of the late Dorothy Helton Howard and
Fred Howard.

Mr. Gene
Douglas
Smith, age 79, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, April 24,
2011 at
Union General Hospital in Blairsville. Mr.
Smith was born on April 23, 1932 in Wayside, Jones County, Georgia, son
of the
late Fred D. Smith and the late Alma Blackwell Smith. After
graduating from Lanier High School in
Macon, GA, Mr. Smith enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve where he served
from
1951-1953. He then built a career in the
U.S. Civil Service, beginning as an Electronic Equipment Specialist at
Warner
Robins Air Force Base, and then in the U.S. Strike Command at MacDill
Air Force
Base, from where he retired in 1989.
Mr. Smith
was a
wonderful, loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by
his wife
of 56 years, Merrill (Merry) H. Smith and their sons, J. Wendell Smith
of
Blairsville and Gregory E. Smith and his wife Meshelle and their
daughter
Lindsay of Gainesville, FL. He is also
survived by his sister, Ann Sires of Macon, GA; and sister-in-law Cade
Smith of
Cullman, AL; and many nieces and nephews. Mr.
Smith was a member of First Baptist Church
in Blairsville.
Funeral
services
will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel of
Cochran
Funeral Home in Blairsville, with Dr. Fred Lodge of First Baptist
Church of
Blairsville, and Rev. Danny Parris officiating. Special

Pierce, 76, of Suches, GA, died Monday,
April 18,2011, at this residence following a sudden illness. Born in Hall County, he was the son of the
late JD and Ida Pierce. He had lived
most of his life in Suches. He was
retired from r Ranch. In addition to his
parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Pierce;
and
brother, Gene Pierce.
Survivors include daughter, Jeanette
