Miss
Ashley Dawn Shubert age 20 of Bunker Hill Rd., Blairsville passed away
on
Thursday, April 23, 2009 in the Union General Hospital in Blairsville
following
an extended illness. Miss was born on
Jan. 6, 1989 in Towns County, the daughter of William Shubert and Ruth
Stepp
Shubert. She was a lifelong resident of
Union County and graduated Union County High School in 2007. Ashley loved to talk on the phone and listen
to music. Ashley was a member of new Hop
Baptist Church.
Surviving Ashley
are her parents, Bill and Ruth Shubert of Blairsville, one brother and
sister-in-law, James and Amanda Shubert of Blairsville, three sisters
and one
brother-in-law, Billie and Jeff Daniel of Blairsville, Angie Shubert of
Blairsville, Misty Evans of Blairsville, grandmother, Jean Stepp of
Daytona,
FL, several nieces, nephews, special friends, Holly Albietz, Jennifer
Dyer
Kerr, jasmine Jones and Madison Snow, many other relatives and friends
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Leon McDonald officiating.
Special music was presented by Bailey Daniel and Cindy Whitmore. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers, Rob Shubert, James Shubert, Jeff Daniel, Dillon Shubert,
Joshua
Daniel, Eric Bryant, Wesley Bryant, David Evans, Daniel Fortenberry and
Jonathan Barclay. Interment followed in
the Meadow View Cemetery. The family met
with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Mrs.
Mary Shook, age 74 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Thursday, April 23,
2009 at
Union General Hospital.
Mary was
born Friday, June 8, 1934 in Greenlee County, AZ,
to the late Julio Mendoza and the late Thomasito Ortiz Mendoza. She attended Union Hill United Methodist
Church and was preceded in death by brothers, Ernest and Lito Mendoza.
Survivors
include: husband, James Shook of Blairsville, GA,
son & daughter-in-law, Raymond and Teresa Shook of Lawrenceville,
GA, son
& daughter-in-law, Robert and Kathey Shook of Carlton, GA, son, Jim
Shook
of Auburn, GA, brother, Emilo Mendoza of Clifton, AZ, brother, Martin
Mendoza
of Santa Rosa, CA, sister, Josephine Cable of Reno, NV, 10
grandchildren, 4
great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 4 PM from Union Hill
United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Wilson officiating.
Music was provided by the Church Choir and
Claudette Griffin. Interment was in
Burch Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers
were: Scott Barrett, Matthew Barrett, Eric Barrett, Chris Shook, Paul
Shook and
Bryan Shook.
In lieu of
flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Humane
Society.

Mrs.
Bonnie (better known as Mrs. Bonnie) Hood age 85 of Richard Russell
Hwy,
Blairsville passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009 in the Union General
Hospital
in Blairsville following an extended illness.
Mrs. Hood was born on
October 13, 1923 in Union County, the daughter of the
late Luther
Cain and the late Evia Fields Cain. She
was a native and
lifelong resident of Union County. Before her
retirement
she was employed with Union General Hospital as a Nurses Aide with over
twenty-six years of service. Most of her
years at Union General, she worked in the nursery taking care of the
babies
which she loved so much. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Bruce Hood in 2002,
son-in-law,
Ernest Rogers, also by six brothers, Clarence, Harley, Henry, Troy,
Robert and
Rance Cain. Mrs. Bonnie was a member of
Choestoe Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Bonnie are one daughter, Judy Rogers of Blairsville, three sisters and
two
brothers-in-law, Minnie and Bill Gooch of Smyrna, GA, Lewie and Steve
green of
Acworth, GA, Elizabeth Reed of Alpharetta, GA, two grandchildren,
Wesley and
Wendy Rogers of Blairsville, Wade Rogers of Blairsville, one great
grandson,
Ryan Rogers of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the
Choestoe
Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Zollinger and Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. She lay in state at the church from 1-2
p.m. Special music was presented by Bill
Collins, Buddy Hunter and Linda Thorton.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Steve Green,
Calvin,
Harold and Ricky Dyer, Richard Corn and Craig Roberts.
Interment followed in the church cemetery
where she will rest beside her beloved husband.

Mrs.
Kathryn S. Bachelor age 79 of Coyote Ridge, Blairsville
passed away on Sunday April 19, 2009 in the N.E. Georgia Medical Center
in
Gainesville following a brief illness. Mrs.
Bachelor was born on Sept. 23, 1929 in Union County, the daughter of
the late William
Franklin Summerour and the late Florence Edna Gillespie Summerour. She was a loving wife, mother, sister,
grandmother and was a friend to many.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Maggie Lee Gooch,
Lovelle
Ownbey and Frankie Fortenberry, tow brothers, Robert and Eugene
Summerour. Mrs. Bachelor was a member of
Shining Light
Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Bachelor are loving husband, Norman Bachelor of Blairsville, one son
and
daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Bachelor of Blairsville, two
daughters,
Yvonne Kennemore of Cumming, Gayle Bachelor of Blairsville, two
sisters, Sue
Summerour of Blairsville, Shirley bracket of Blairsville, eight
grandchildren,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Timothy Mason and Rev. Ric Hurd officiating. Special music was presented by Pete Victor,
Arnold Butts, Richard Fairburn, Sammy Nichols, Steve Keen and George
Shangle. Serving as honorary pallbearers
were, Jim Pruitt, Larry Mandigo and Ed Balle.
Interment followed in the Coosa Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family met
with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Mr.
Mitchell Thomas Edwards age 47 of Austell Rd., Marietta formerly of
Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 following a brief
illness. Mr. Edwards was born on January
29, 1962 in Towns County, the son of the late Tommy Edwards and the
late Velma
Burrell Edwards. He was a lifelong
resident of Union and Towns Counties.
Mitchell loved NASCAR, fishing and sports, especially the
Atlanta
Braves. He was preceded in death by a
sister, Linda Sue Ledford. Mitchell was
of the Non Denominational faith.
Surviving Mr.
Edwards are two sisters, Jennette Ledford of Dallas, GA, Regina Price
of
Marietta, three brothers and one sister-in-law, Jerry Edwards of
Marietta,
Larry and Gloria Edwards of Villa Rica, GA, Gary Edwards of
Blairsville,
several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, many other relatives
and
friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Glen Eller and Rev. Samuel R. Price officiating. Special music was presented by Glen and
Sheila Eller and Joe Anderson. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Joshua Tyus, Kenny Ledford,
Bryan
Baker, Christian Edwards, Tommy Price and Charles Ledford.
Interment followed in the
Osborn Cemetery. The family met with
friends at the funeral
