Estelle Ava England, age 95, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Union County Nursing Home.  Estelle was born Thursday, April 6, 1911 in Union County, GA to the late Richard England and Elizabeth Prater England.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Fort Oglethorpe, GA and former member of New Harmony Baptist Church, Blairsville.  She was preceded in death by sisters, Lena Woods, Lois England, and Mozelle Stone, brothers, Ernest and Robert England.  Survivors include: sisters, Grace Bowers of Ashland, OH and Lucille Cain of Ringgold, GA, niece; LaVerne Cobb of Morganton and 8 other nieces and nephews.  Funeral services were held Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe, GA, with the Dr. jack Colwell officiating.  Interment was in Tennessee-Georgia memorial Park.  Serving as pallbearers were: Steve Ross, Luke Ross, Dan Stanley, and Jim Solomon.  The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, GA is in charge of arrangements.  You may send condolences to the family and sign the guest register at www.cochranfuneralhomes.com.

Nannie Louise Adams, age 94, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday, April 28, 2006 at Union General Hospital.

Mrs. Adams was born Wednesday, August 30, 1911 in Towns County, Ga. To the late Smith Plott and Nora Smith Plott.  She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and loved fishing and gardening.  She was preceded in death by husband, Wesley Alex Adams, sons, Clarence R. Adams and William Charles Adams.

Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Clara & Randall Allen of Blairsville, Ga., granddaughter, Gail Cantrell, granddaughter, Diane Donaldson, grandson, Wayne Adams, grandson, Donald Adams, grandson, Adam Shane Hedrick, grandson, Terry Adams, grandson, Timmy Adams, granddaughter, Jan Adams, granddaughter, Charlotte Duckworth, several great & great great grandchildren, sister, Ruth Cantrell of Blairsville, and brother, Worth Plott of Blairsville.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 30, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Potts and Rev. Brent Chatham officiating.  Music was provided by Velda McGuire, Martha Hooper, Lesie Buckle and Gail Duckette.   

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:  Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Wesley Adams, Johnny Strickland, Rocky Holdbrooks, Wayne Adams, Adam Shane Hedrick and Brandon Jack Henderson. in

Mrs. Totsie Williamson Evans, age 80, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, April 17, 20006 at Piedmont Hospital.  Mrs. Evans was born Tuesday, December 15, 1925 in Bartow County, Georgia, to the late Lloyd Mayes Williamson, Sr. and the late Edith Roper Williamson. A SAFE Volunteer, she was also a member of St. Claire’s Episcopal Church in Blairsville.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Walker Evans, in 1993.  Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Donna E. & Michael McDonald of Mableton, Georgia; daughter & son-in-law, Elizabeth E. & Tom Starrett of Blairsville; brother & sister-in-law, Terry W. & Betty G. Williamson of Rome, Georgia; grandson, Ryan McDonald; granddaughter, Erica S. Bearden; granddaughter, April S. Seabolt; great-grandchildren: Grace McDonald; Emma McDonald; and Fletcher McDonald.  Memorials services were held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2006 from the St. Clare’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. danny dixon

 

Mr. Danny Dixon age 59 of Garrett Rd. Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Dixon was born on March 25, 1947 in Graham, TX.  The son of the late Albert F. Dixon and Billie J. Miller Dixon.  He was a veteran of the national Guard.  He had lived in Union County for the past four years, moving here from Graham, TX.  He was a member and Judge of the International Bore Goat Association.  Danny loved gardening and working with his animals.  Mr. Dixon was a member of ivy Log Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Dixon are his loving wife of four years, Martha Dyer Dixon of Blairsville; one daughter, Stephanie Dixon of graham, TX.; mother, Billie Dixon of Graham, TX; one step-daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Travis Lunsford of Blairsville; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Barbie Nix of Blairsville; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Marinda and Larry Brown of Graham, TX; Susan and Wendall Brown of Graham, TX; one step grandchild, Logan Nix, and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 2: p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Karnes and Rev. Chester Jones officiating.  Special music was presented by Kim Thomas, Ted Noelle, and Mildred McCroy.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, John Armstrong, Danny Henson, Jeff Beck, George Beck, Bruce Gray, and Dean Dyer.  Serving as honorary pallbearers were Rufus Everett, the Deacons of ivy Log Baptist Church, and member of the North East Georgia Bore goat breeders.  Interment followed in the Ivy Log Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Mr.  Willie Lane, age 63 of Blairsville, GA [assed away Sunday, April 9, 2006 at Piedmont Hospital.

Mr. lane was born Tuesday, March 23, 1943 in Harland County KY to Viva Gunter Lane of Blairsville and the late John Ike lane.

Survivors, including his mother, Viva Lane; daughter Barbara lane of Blairsville; son, Brian Lane of Blairsville; grandson, Eric and Clint Chapman of Minooka, IL, Michael lane of panama City Beach, FL; granddaughters, Desiree Chapman of Blairsville, Samantha Fountaine of Minooka; great-granddaughter, Megan Chapman, Ariana LaFlame, and Hailey Burch; brother  and sister-in-law, Del and Victoria Lane; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Sally Lane of Sevierville, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Ola and Ron Vanek of Burbank, IL; sister and brother-in-law, Jacque and Al Montreuil of Thomaston, GA; sister and brother-in-aw Dora and David Chanlder, of Charleston, SC; and many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 13, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating.  Interment followed in Union memory Gardens.  Serving as pallbearers were Phillip lane, Del lane, Stanley Lane, John Lane, Brian Lane, Eric Chapman, and Clinton Chapman.

suzanne kessler brumbaugh limehouse

 

Mrs. Suzanne Kessler Brumbaugh Henderson Limehouse age 72 of Chestatee Drive Blairsville, formerly of Gaffney, SC, and also of Perry, GA passed away on Monday, April 17, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. Limehouse was born on February 24, 1934 in Dayton, OH. The daughter of the late Robert W. Kessler and the late Lillian M. Sensel Kessler.  She had been a Graphic and Commercial Artist, a professional dog handler, a FTD master Florist, past president of the South Carolina Florist Assn., and a member of the High Country Artisans-Butternut Creek Festival.  She taught at the William Holland Lapidary School and at the John Campbell Folk School.  She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy P. Brumbaugh in 1983.  Mrs. Limehouse was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Limehouse are her loving husband, James Limehouse of Blairsville; two sons, David Brumbaugh of Carabelle, FL and Chris Brumbaugh of Port St. Joe, FL,; one daughter, Melissa Brumbaugh of Blairsville; three step-daughters, Ellen Jarosz of FL, Ceila Schoeneman of VA, Merry Gress of MS; one sister, Frances Cline of Wildwood, MO; four brothers, Mike Kessler of Montana, Pete Kessler of Gaffney, SC, John Kessler of WA, and Bill Kessler of OH.  Grandchildren Ariel and Ben Brumbaugh of Tucson, AZ, Kristy B. Webb of Seiverville, TN, Eric and Evan Brumbaugh of Port St. Joe, FL; two great-grandchildren, Bryan and Kelly Webb of TN and any other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services were held on Friday, April 21, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. George Cline officiating.  Special music was presented by the Jubilee Choir.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Women’s Enrichment Center in Mrs. Limehouse’s memory.

duane edward dyer

 

Mr. Duane Edward Dyer, age 75, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2006 at his residence.

Mr. Dyer was born Saturday, June 14, 1930 in Medina County, Ohio, to the late Edward Dyer and Mildred Cowhick Dyer.  He was a member and deacon of old Liberty Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by: Son, Johnny Duane Dyer; grandson, Little Eddie Dyer; infant sister, Gaynelle Dyer; brothers, Dean and Raymond Dyer and sister, Janice Kelley.

Survivors include: wife, Opal Gibson Dyer of Blairsville, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Joyce Dyer of Lawrenceville, Georgia; daughter & son-in-law, Kathy & Kenneth Deyton; son & daughter-in-law, David and Becky Dyer; son & daughter-in-law, Eddie and Dietrich Dyer; son & daughter-in-law, Perry and Rosie Dyer; son & daughter-in-law, Troy and Becky Dyer; daughter & son-in-law, Cynthia and Jeff Knight; daughter & son-in-law, Cheryl and Mark Griggs; daughter & son-in-law, Stephanie and James Fitzpatrick, all of Blairsville; brother, Arlen “Bub” Dyer of Blairsville; brother and sister-in-law, Lyndon and Caroline Dyer of Mancelona, Michigan; sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and jerry Reid of Blairsville; 29 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 4 p.m. from the Old Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Harley Hunter and Rev. Jerry Young officiating.  Music was provided by Marlie Griggs and the Old Liberty Church Choir.  Interment followed in Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Brannon Dyer, Trent Dyer, Caleb Dyer, Chris Dyer, Alex Knight, Benjerman Dyer, and Chris Anderson.

The family received friends at Cochran Funeral Home from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., Monday, April 17.  The body laid in-state at the church one hour prior to the service.
