Mr. Al
Heine, age 69, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, April 29,
1997 in
St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Heine
was born in Lackwanne County, Pennsylvania, on
September 20, 1927 a son of the late Harry Heine and Edith Dickson
Heine. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy
and served during
World War II. Mr. Heine was employed by
IBM for forty years. He had lived in the
Blairsville area for the past seven years, coming here from Raleigh,
North
Carolina. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving
are his wife, Barbara Heine, of the home; daughter, Judy Lane of
Norcross, GA.;
sister, Mable Freer and brother, Walter Heine, both of Endicott, New
York.
Memorial
services were held Thursday, May 1, 1997 at 2 p.m. from Coosa Methodist
Church
Cemetery with Rev. Earl Bishop, Rev. Bill Gowder, and Pastor Fritz
Jenks. The family respectfully requests no
flowers,

Mrs.
Marie
Carney Jones, age 84, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday,
April 27,
1997 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs.
Jones was born in Union County, Georgia on April 16,
1913, a daughter of the late Miles Carney and ester West Carney. She was a homemaker and a lifelong
resident. Mrs. Jones was a member of
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Her
husband, Henry Jones, passed away in 1945.
Surviving
are sons, Johnny Jones of Blairsville and Homer Jones of Gainesville;
daughters, Frances Vandiver and Maxine Cook, both of Gainesville;
step-daughter, Ina Gribble of Blairsville and Dimple Duckworth of
Gainesville;
step-son, Frank Jones of Blairsville; sixteen grandchildren and
eighteen great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, April 30, 1997 at 11 a.m. from the chapel
of Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Jerry Young and Rev. Charles
Abernathy officiating. Special music was
presented by Mary Jane
Phillips, Carolyn Pannell and the Baker’s.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Tony Cook, Joey
Forester,
Jimmy Jones, Jerry Whitfield, Wayne Everett, and Larry Jones. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church Cemetery.

Mr.
Johnny
Nelson, age 81, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, May 1,
1997 in Union
General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr.
Nelson was born in Union County, Georgia, on August 6,
1915, a son of the late Festus Nelson and Martha Lee Nelson. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War
II. Mr. Nelson had lived most of his
life in Union County, and was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church. He was a former law enforcement officer with
the State of Georgia.
Surviving
are his wife, Jan Nelson, of the home; daughter, Martha Hamby of
Blairsville;
granddaughter, Mandy Young, of Blairsville; great grandson, Paedon
Young; and
sisters, Susie Fair and Lorene Nicholson, both of Blairsville.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, May 3, 1997 at 4 p.m. from the chapel of
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Hubert Legg and Rev. Brent
Chatham officiating. Special music was
presented by Ken and Elaine
Young. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Shannon Young, Dale Hamby,

Mr.
Johnnie
Mack Brown, 65, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, May 2,
1997 in
Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr. Brown
was born in Union County, Georgia, on June 11, 1931, a son of the
late John G. Brown and Ida Watkins Brown.
He was a lifelong resident of Union County, and was a member of
Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church, Young Cane Maosnic (sic) Lodge, #597, F&AM,
and the
Blairsville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving
are his wife, Bessie Garrett Brown, of Blairsville; sons and
daughters-in-law,
Royce and Brenda Brown; Ronnie and Debra brown, and Randy and Teresa
Brown, all
of Blairsville; sister, Jessie Corn, of Blairsville; and brother, Jim
Brown of
Gainesville, GA. Five grandchildren also
survive.

services were held Sunday, May 4, 1997 at 4 p.m. from the chapel of

Mrs.
Minnie
Mauney Teague, 98, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, May 3, 1997 in Union
County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mrs.
Teague was born in Union County, Georgia, on April 24, 1899, a daughter of
the late Charlie Mauney and Theodoria Carroll Mauney.
She was a homemaker and lived in this area
for most of her life. She was a member
of Ivy Log Baptist Church. Mrs.
Teague
was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Teague, who passed away
in
1970.
Surviving
are daughter, Hazel McClure, of Blairsville; son, Jack Teague, of
Fayetteville,
GA; and daughter, Doris Woods, of Acworth, GA; sister, Johnnie Gladson,
of
Murphy, NC; granddaughters Tommye Scanlin, Deborah Smith, Janie Howell,
and
Penny Woods; and grandsons: Jack Teague, Jr., and Bill Wood.

Mrs.
Aldyne
Jordan Manley, age 85, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday,
April 30,1997 in Augusta’s University
Hospital. Mrs. Manley was born on November
27, 1911 in
Franklin County, Georgia. Her parents
were the late Barton Jordan and Rosa Delle Wilder Jordan.
Mrs. Manley was the wife of the late Raymond
Tyrus Manley, Sr. and she has resided at National Health Care Center in
North
Augusta, South Carolina for the past four years. The
Manleys lived in the Wesley Mountain
Village in the Blairsville area from 1988-1992.
They had lived in Marietta, GA. for some 30
years. Mr. Manley had been co-owner of
Manley and Adams Auto Parts Company of Marietta, and Mrs. Manley taught
in the
Cobb County School system for ten years.
Mrs. Manley
was a 1932 graduate of LaGrange College earning a Bachelor of Science
degree. She returned to West Georgia
College in 1966 to upgrade her teaching credentials enabling here to
teach
elementary grades. Mrs. Manley was a Past
Matron of Eastern Star in Cobb county (sic)
and a
member of the McEachern United Methodist Church and the United
Methodist Church
of Union County.
Funeral
services were held May 3, 1997 in Blairsville at the United Methodist
Church of
Union County. Interment was held at
Memory Gardens Cemetery on memory Garden Road.
The family requests donations be
made to the
Wesley United Methodist Church Building Fund, 825 North Belair Road,
Evans, GA.

Mrs. Manley
is survived by a sister, Mrs. George Hubbard (Elizabeth) of Hartwell;

Mr.
Joseph
Hesketh, 93, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, May 2, 1997
in Towns
County Hospital in Hiawassee.
Mr.
Hesketh was born in England on April 18, 1904, a son of
the late George and Margaret Hesketh. He
had lived in this area for the 22 years, coming here from Lighthouse
Point,
Florida. He was of the Presbyterian
Faith.
Surviving
are his wife, Winnie Duckworth Hesketh, of Blairsville; stepson, Rex
Ballew, of
Blairsville; stepson and daughter-in-law, Bill and Dollie Ballew, of
Virginia beach, VA also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, May 4, 1997 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of

Funeral Home of Blairsville with Reverend Benny Nix officiating. Special music was presented by Susie
Phillips, Louise Delong, and Sarah Kelley.
