Mrs.
Claudine E. King, 72, of Blairsville, Georgia, and West Palm Beach,
Florida
passed away Monday, March 25, 1996.
She was a
member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.
Surviving
are her husband, Robert “Bob” King of Blairsville; daughter, Sandra
King
Thompson; son, Ronald Lynn King; and daughter-in-law, Amy King; and a
grandson,
Christopher.

Ethel
Poteete Davenport, 95, of Greensboro died Friday, April 26, 1996 at her
residence. Mrs. Davenport was born July
8, 1900 in the Dooly Section of union County, Georgia.
She was the daughter of the late Vergile Poteete
and Mary Cathey Poteete.
Funeral
services were Monday, April 29, 1996 at 3:30 p.m. at Forbis and Dick
Guilford
Chapel. Burial was in Friendship
Cemetery.
Mrs.
Davenport was a homemaker and a member of Guilford Baptist Church where
she was
a member of “The Young at Heart” in the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lon Davenport; son,
J.V.
Davenport; infant son, Glenn Davenport; daughter, Mrs. Pauline
Hedgecock; and
infant daughter, Ruth davenport.
Survivors
include sons, Guy Davenport of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Ralph Davenport
of
Princeton, N.J., John Davenport of Post, Texas, Lewis Davenport of
Kernersville, Richard Davenport of Greensboro; daughters, Mrs. Vera
Jackson and
Mrs. Mildred Jackson, both of Greensboro, Mrs. Lois Parnel of Quitman,
Georgia
and Mrs. Arlena Pegg of Kernersville; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great
grandchildren.

Funeral
services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday,
March 13, 1996, in Morningside Baptist Church for Lum Hensley Nix, 76,
of 196
Clark’s Bridge Road, Gainesville.
The Rev. Billy Cannon and the Rev.
James Anderson officiated. Burial was in
Memorial Park cemetery.
Mr. Nix died Monday, March 11, 1996,
at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Nix
was born in Union County but had lived in Hall
County for the past 46 years. He served
in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Nix was retired from Mar-Jac Poultry. He
was a member of Morningside Baptist
Church.
Survivors
include his wife, Blanche Hamby Nix, Gainesville; daughter and
son-in-law,
Sandra and Edward Sutton, Duluth; daughter, Brenda Smith, Gainesville;
sister,
Geneva Reece, Dalton; granddaughters, Christy Abercrombie, Gainesville,
Stacie
Sutton, Duluth; and grandsons, David Smith, Gainesville, Brandon Sutton
and
Matthew Sutton, both of Duluth.

Mrs.
Louise Mize Mason, 78, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, May
3, 1996
in Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mrs.
Mason was born in Clarke County, Georgia, on September
30, 1917 a daughter of the late Luther Mize and Ola Mae Wilbanks Mize. Mrs. Mason had been living in this area since
1960, coming here from Banks County, Georgia.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Union
County, and a
member of the United Methodist Women. At
her church, she was active in the Nursery Department, coordinating and
also as
a Nursery Worker. Mrs. Mason was
preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Ernest Mason, in 1978.
Surviving
are her son and daughter in law, Mack and Rhonda Mason; and son, Gene
Mason,
all of Blairsville; a brother, Matt Mize of Commerce, Georgia; a
sister, Mamie
Riley of Forest Park, Georgia; a grandson, Chad Wesley Mason, and
several
nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, May 6, 1996 at 11 a.m. from First United
Methodist
Church of Union County with Dr. Robert Darby and Rev. Hughes Chatham
officiating. Mrs. Carol Head presented the
eulogy. Mrs. Elizabeth Plott presented the
music. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Bobby Dodd, George Harwell, Steve Byers, Tommy Lovell,
Eddie
Partin, and Quinton Dyer. Interment was
in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu
of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to
Wilderness Scouts, P.O. Box 807, Blairsville or to First United
Methodist
Church Building Fund, 859 Hwy. 515, Blairsville.
