mrs. arva lee roberts

 

Arva Lee Roberts, 92, of Union County, GA passed away Sunday, April 30, 2006.

Born April 13, 1914 in Murphy, NC, she was the daughter of the late James William and Ethel Mae Rogers Roberts.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Forrest Roberts and his wife, Betty, a brother-in-law, jack Whitmore, a niece, Mary Lynn Stiles, a great niece, Andrea Morrow and a great nephew, Derrick Whitmore.

She was a member of Notla Baptist Church, but more recently until her health failed, attended Martins Creek United Methodist Church.

Arvie was a devout Christian and enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to radio preachers and gospel music.

Her hobbies included frame quilting and growing outdoor flowers in the summertime.

Arvie firmly believed in the values of hard work, integrity and compassion.

She is survived by a sister, Mable Whitmore, a brother, Horace Roberts and his wife, Jeri Ruth and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral services were held at 7 p.m., Tuesday evening, may 2, in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with Dr. Clyde Faulkner and Rev. Michael Bias officiating.

Visitation was held at the Ivie Funeral Home, prior to the services.

Interment was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Whitmore Cemetery in Bellview.

Pallbearers were Eugene Morrow, Charles Stiles, Ray Whitmore, Sherdon Scroggs, Terry Hatchett and Lee Robertson.

Jeri Ruth Roberts furnished vocal and instrumental music for the service.

Family members would like to thank the staff at Union County Nursing Home for their compassionate and loving care.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Ivie Funeral Home in Murphy.

james douglas england

 

Mr. James Douglas England, age 67, of England Drive, Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at his home following a brief illness.  Mr. England was born on March 32, 1939 in Union County.  He is the son of Mae Owens England and the late Lester I. England.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County.  Mr. England was a veteran of the US Army.

Surviving Mr. England are his loving wife, jean Wimpey England of Blairsville; one son, Billy J England of Blairsville; two brothers and one sister-in-law, John and Pauline England of Blairsville, Larry England of Blairsville; one niece, Rhonda Collins of Blairsville; one nephew, Brent England of Blairsville; several cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc. or to the American Lung Assoc. in Mr. England’s memory.

tate patrick truex

 

Little Tate Patrick Truex, infant son of Chuck and Lisa Truex, passed away on Wednesday May 3, 2006 in the North East Georgia Medical Center.

Surviving Tate are his parents, Chuck and Lisa Compton Truex of Blairsville; three sisters, Carly, Chloe, and Sophie Truex all of Blairsville; Grandparents, Ron and Marlynn Truex of Leipers Fork Texas; Jim and Linda Compton of Knoxville, TN; Ralph and Edith Buchner of Knoxville, TN and many other relatives also survive.

Graveside services were held on Friday, may 5, 2006 at 4 p.m. from the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery with Father Richard Wise officiating.  The family met with friends following the services.

nannie louise adams

 

Nannie Louise Adams, age 94 of Blairsville, Ga, passed away Friday, April 28, 2006 at Union General Hospital.

Mrs. Adams was born Wednesday, August 30, 1911 in Towns County Ga. To the late Smith Plott and Nora Smith Plott.  She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and loved fishing and gardening.  She was preceded in death by husband, Wesley Alex Adams, sons, Clarence R. Adams and William Charles Adams.

Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Clara & Randall Allen of Blairsville, Ga., granddaughter, Gail Cantrell, granddaughter, Diane Donaldson, grandson, Wayne Adams, grandson, Donald Adams, grandson, Benny Adams, grandson, Adam Shane Hedrick, grandson, Terry Adams, grandson, Timmy Adams, granddaughter, Jan Adams, granddaughter, Charlotte Duckworth, several great & great great grandchildren, sister, Ruth Cantrell of Blairsville, and brother, Worth Plott of Blairsville.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 30, 2006 at 2:00PM from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Potts and Rev. Brent Chatham officiating.  Music was provided by Velda McGuire, Martha Hooper, Lesie Buckle and Gail Duckette.  Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Wesley Adams, Johnny Strickland, Rocky Holdbrooks, Wayne Adams, Adam Shane Hedrick and Brandon Jack Henderson.

Tottsie Lee Owenby Dellinger, 82, of 3150 Puetts Chapel Road, died April 30, 2006, at Carolina Care Center.

She was born in Union County, GA on August 5, 1923, the daughter of the late Zachary Taylor and Cordia Lee Norton Owenby.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday At Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenters Funeral Home, Cherryville.

Visitations were from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home; and other times at the home of her niece, Peggy and James Stroupe, 3157 Puetts Chapel Road, Dallas.  Mrs. Dellinger was retired from J.P. Stephens and was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are; a step-son, Glenn Dellinger of Cherryville; two step-daughters, Beatrice Carpenter of Lincolnton and Christine Parker Schronce of Cherryville; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by, in addition to her parents, husband, Paul W. Dellinger, Sr.; step-son Junior Dellinger; five brothers, Dwight, Henry, Howard, Sylvan, and Van Owenby; three sisters, Georgia, Haas, Daisy Ingrham, and Maebelle Dockery.
