Mr.
Charles Roy McClure, age 81 of Blairsville, GA, passed away on Sunday,
May 01,
2011 following a period of declining health.
He was born to the late T.C. and Leila (Justice) McClure on May
09, 1929
in Young Harris, GA.
He
is
survive by his wife, Ruth McClure, of Blairsville, GA; sons and
daughters-in-law, Rusty and Teresa McClure, of Villa Rica, GA; Randy
and Linda
McClure, of Blairsville, GA; Robby and Jana McClure, of Young Harris,
GA; seven
grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a number of nieces and
nephews also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, May 04, 2011 at 11 AM from the chapel
of
Banister Funeral Home with Pastor Raburne Wilson, Rev. Jimmy Hogsed and
Rev.
Jimmy Rogers officiating. Music was
provided by Ryan Wilson, Emily Gerdes and Gene Enlow.
Pallbearers were: Gavin King, Matt McCain,
Curtis Brown, Kyle McClure, Chris Parson and Jason Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were: Hubert Plott,
Horace Plott, J.W. Porter, Gene Enlow and Matthew McClure.
Interment was in Hayesville United Methodist
Church cemetery.

charles “chuck” fredrick winkler
Mr.
Charles
"Chuck" Fredrick Winkler, age 82 of Jazzberry Road, Blairsville
passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Lazy R Assisted Living
following an
extended illness. Mr. Winkler was born
on March 12, 1929 in Easton, NY., the son of the late Charles Fredrick
Winkler
Sr. and the late Florence Mead Winkler.
Chuck had been employed before his retirement as General Foreman
with
the G.E. Company in Charleston, SC and as Construction Supervisor with
Lykes -
Pasco in Dade City, FL. He enjoyed RV
traveling, boating, fishing, home projects and spending time with his
family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and also four brothers, Phillip
Winkler, Ben, Leroy and Irving Butler.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great
grandfather. Chuck was of the Methodist
faith.
Surviving
Mr.
Winkler are his loving wife of fifty one years, Evelyn Platt Winkler of
Blairsville, one son and daughter in law, Kenneth and Cindy Winkler of
Gansevoort, NY., five daughters and two sons-in-law, Jean and Lou
DiGeralamo of
Queensburg, NY., Phyllis Winkler of Waterleit, NY., Robin Winkler of
Blairsville, Charlene and Gary Puckett of Franklin, NC, Tracy Andrus of
Thonotosassa, FL., sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great
grandchildren, one
great–great grand daughter, his best Bud Jacque, many other relatives
and
friends also survive.
A
memorial service
will be held at a later date in New York with interment following in
the
Roseboom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if
you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the loving
caregivers at Lazy R or to Regency Hospice of Hiawassee in Chuck’s
memory.

Mrs.
Elizabeth L.
Gerardi, age 91, of Wesley Mtn. Drive, Blairsville, passed away on
Saturday,
May 7, 2011 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended
illness. Mrs. Gerardi was born on June
25, 1919 in Donora, PA, the daughter of the late Emmanuel Leoncini and
the late
Theresa Destafano Leoncini. ElizabethCHA
had
worked for several years as a seamstress.
After retirement she volunteered with the North Broward Hospital
in
North Broward, FL and also Fish Memorial Hospital in Deland, FL where
she was a
Pink Lady. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Bruno Gerardi and by two brothers, Paul and John and by
four
sisters, Angelina, Helen, Josephine and Julie.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Mrs. Gerardi was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving
Mrs.
Gerardi are one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Terry Crutcher of
Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Mary Gerardi of
Tallahassee, FL, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jeanne and Joseph
Dipietro
of Citrus Springs, FL, Betty Sparrow of Pompano Beach, FL, three
grandchildren,
Joseph and Joshua Gerardi and Kristin Crutcher, many other relatives
and friends
also survive.
A

will be held at a later date in Tallahassee, FL and interment will
follow in
New Jersey where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family

Mrs.
Margaret Mary
McPherson, age 94 of Pitmaduthy Close, Blairsville, passed away on
Sunday, May
1, 2011 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. McPherson was born on Nov. 4, 1916 in
Reading, PA, the daughter of the late Orville Keenan and the late Della
Dehart
Keenan. Margaret loved music and loved
the beach. She was a member of the Sweet
Adeline’s for over twenty-five years. She
was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by a son, Sam
McPherson in 2008 and her husband, Samuel McPherson in 1980. Mrs. McPherson was a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church in Bradenton, FL. and attended the House of Prayer
Church in
Blairsville.
Surviving
Mrs.
McPherson are one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and James Frost of
Franklin, TN, one son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Rhonda McPherson
of
Blairsville, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, several
nieces,
nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service was
held on Thursday May 5,2011 at 7 p.m. from the House of Prayer Church
with the
Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Special
music was presented by the House of Prayer Church Choir. Interment
followed in the Skyway Memorial
Gardens Cemetery. The family met with
friends following the services.

Mrs.
Erma G. Crocker, age 86, of Ivy Bend, Blairsville passed away on
Sunday, April
24, 2011 at her home following a brief illness. Mrs.
Crocker was born on Sept. 26, 1924 in
Zanesville, OH, the daughter of the late Daniel Sutton and the late
Wilma
Kinkaid Denton and the late Simon Denton. Erma
was preceded in death by her husband
Kenneth Crocker and sister, Billie Denton. She
had made her home in Blairsville in 2009
moving here from Keystone Heights, FL. Erma
was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She had many hobbies and enjoyed being
outdoors and camping. Erma was a member
of All Saints Lutheran Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Crocker are one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Kelly Mazzaferro
of
Blairsville, one brother, Rev. Donald Denton of Keystone Heights, FL,
three
grandchildren, Danica Esche and James and Steven Mazzaferro, three
great
grandchildren, Jeremy Knight, Tyler and Matthew Mazzaferro, a host of
church
family, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Life Service was held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 2 p.m. from All
Saints
Lutheran Church with Rev. Dave Wesche and Rev. Seminarian Steven

Fisher Bennett. He was a veteran of the
US Coast Guard. R.C. enjoyed bowling and was a league member, playing

riding motorcycles and his two Great Dane dogs, Anne and Barnsley. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather
and great grandfather. He was preceded
in death by a sister, Kathleen Jones. Mr.
Bennett was of the Catholic faith.
