Mrs.
Nellie
Dean, 79, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday, May 3, 1997 in
Union
General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs. Dean
was born in Harris County, GA on May 14, 1917, a
daughter of the late Henry Emmett Alford and Nellie Slaughter Alford. She was a homemaker and was the wife of the
late Olin Dean, Sr., who passed away in 194.
The Deans lived in the Blairsville area since 1960, coming from
Eastman,
GA. Mrs. Dean was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Blairsville, GA. She
was a member of various organizations, including the Blairsville Garden
Club,
American Legion Auxiliary, NARFE and was active in fundraising for the
American
Cancer Society
Mrs. Dean
is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Olin,
Jr. and J. Carolyn Dean, of Lanett, AL; daughter and son-in-law,,
Lenell and Ron
Sikes, of Tucker, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Donald Ray and Sheila
Dean, of
Lilburn, GA. Five grandchildren also
survive: Jeffrey Gordon Sikes, of Snellville; Susan Leigh Sikes, of
Tucker;
Brent Dean, of Birmingham, AL; Allison Edge, of Valley, AL; and Amanda
Dean of
Lilburn.
Funeral
services were held Monday, May 5, 1997 at 3 p.m. from First Baptist
Church of
Blairsville with Reverend B.A. Buchanan and Reverend Danny Parris
officiating. Special music was presented
by Terry
Hooper. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers: Elmer Thompson, Jeffrey
Sikes, randy Edge, Michael Shaffer, Billy Womack, and Henry Alford. Interment was in Blairsville City Cemetery.
