margaret nell mccutchin

 

Mrs. Margaret Nell McCutchin, age 76, of Dean Gap Acres, Blairsville passed away on Monday, May 8, 2006 following an extended illness.  Mrs. McCutchin was born on October 177,k 1929 in Albuquerque, NM, the daughter of the late Arthur Milligan and the late Ada Neel Milligan.  She loved to knit and sew.  Her favorite past time was studying the Bible.  She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Watson and two brothers, Paul Milligan and Neel Milligan.  Mrs. McCutchin was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Blairsville.

Surviving Mrs. McCutchin are her loving husband of fifty-four years, James McCutchin of Blairsville; two daughters and one son-in-law; Charlotte Ann Lurvey of Tampa, FL, Deborah Nell and Ronald Kelley of Athens, AL; one brother, Bob Milligan of Santa Fe, NM; two sisters-in-law, Madelin Moore and Margaret Milligan; two nieces, Donna Begier and Adele Bryan, nephew, Laverne Moore, five grandchildren, Karen, Bynum, Jenny Neidhardt, Jeffrey, Kristi, and Heather Lurvey; three great-grandchildren, Lily Neidhardt, Hailey Bynum, and Kailey Neidhardt and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnessess with Minister Rod Scogin officiating.  I you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall in Mrs. McCutchin’s memory.

susan gail horne

 

Mrs. Susan Gail Horne, age 50, of Tombstone Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2006 in Towns County from injuries received in an automobile accident.  Mrs. Horne was born on December 11, 1955 in Ft. Myers, FL, the daughter of the late James Hilton and the late Margarite Snyder Hilton.  At the time of her death, she was employed with Regency Hospice as an RN and also at Union General Hospital.  She was a dedicated nurse and her patients became part of her family.  She had been a nurse for over seven years.  Susan loved helping and caring for people in their last days.  She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was a friend to all who knew her.  Susan was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Susan are her loving husband of thirty-two years, Alva Horne of Blairsville; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Anthony and Sabrina Horne of Longwood, FL., James and Carie Horne of Blairsville, William Horne of Longwood, FL; two brothers, James Hilton and Tracy Hilton; four sisters Ginny McCurley, Linda Levesque, Mary Anne Varna, and Pat Laroque; five grandchildren; Jacob, Austin, Matthew, Halle, and Amberlee Horne and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 1 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Chaplin Nancy Joyner officiating. Special music was Susan’s favorite hymns.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Anthony, James, and William Horne, Skip Waylett, Jerry Smith, Joey Hughes, Mary Phillips, and Linda Tatum.  Serving as honorary pallbearers were Regency Hospice Staff.  Interment followed in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.

marvin murphy

 

Mr. Marvin Murphy, 61, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2006 in Emory Adventist Hospital in Smyrna, Georgia.  Mr. Murphy was born in Union County, Georgia on July 4, 1944, the son of Dorothy Brown Murphy and the late Glen Murphy.  He had lived most of his life in Union County.

Surviving family members include his mother, Dorothy Brown Murphy, of Marietta; a brother, Rayburn Murphy, also of Marietta; sister, Opal Cook, of Griffin, Georgia; brother Troy Murphy and brother, Ronnie Murphy, both also of Marietta; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Terrell Jones officiating.  Special music will be presented by Evelyn Jones, Joshua Dills and Howard Brys.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Gary Jones, Buster Dills, Randolph Jones, Ranny Jones, Ned Wilcoxson, and Wendall Murphy.  Visitation was held at the Funeral Home on Monday evening, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

faith gertrude shackelford free

 

Faith Gertrude Shackelford Free was born August 14, 1916 Lawrenceville, GA Gwinnett County.  She died May 15, 2006, age 89, Blairsville, GA, Union County Nursing Home after an extended illness.

She worked at hall County Hospital, now known as Northeast Georgia Medical Center, for 21 years as a nurses aid.  Faith was a member of Airline Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA for 50 + years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, GA since 1998.  Faith had lived in Gainesville for 70 years prior to moving to Blairsville.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Watson E. Free and her two of her sons, Robert A. Free and Watson E. Free.

Survivors are her children Betty Ann Free Maurer of Covina, CA, Louise Free Michielson of Rome, GA, John and Carole Free  Randal of Blairsville, GA, martin and Betty Free of Wilmington, NC, Glen and Tomi Free McCullers of Blairsville, GA, Steve and Joan Free Collins of Blairsville, GA, and Steve and Debbie Free of Blairsville, GA.  Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at memorial park Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA.  Arrangements to be announced.  For any questions call Glen or Tomi McCullers at 706-745-2233.
