Mrs.
Mildred M. Shuck, age 97, of Wesley Mtn. Drive, Blairsville, passed
away on
Friday, May 11, 2012 in the Union County Nursing Home following an
extended
illness. Mrs. Shuck was born on Jan. 10, 1915 in Foley, AL, the
daughter of the
late Arthur Huff and the late Rose Musgrove Huff. Mildred was a sixty
year
resident of Florida. She had managed Piney Town Court in St. Petersburg
for
thirty-seven years before moving to Brannan Lodge in 2006. She is now
resting
with God and those who went before her including her husband, George
Kenneth
Shuck in 1993, a son, Charles Kenneth Shuck in 2005 and a brother, Glen
Huff.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great
grandmother. Mildred was a member of Coosa United Methodist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Shuck are three sons and daughters-in-law, George and Carol Shuck
of
Colorado Springs, CO, Ronald and Sally Shuck of Blairsville, Robert and
Patricia Shuck of Altoona, FL, eight grandchildren, eight
great-grandchildren
and one great- great grandchild, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
A
memorial service and interment will be held at a later date from the
Lakeside
Memorial Gardens in Eustis, FL. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the
family
requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice of Hiawassee in
memory
of Mrs. Shuck.

The
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr.
John
Douglas Ryan, Jr., age 83 of Blairsville who passed away on Friday, May
18,
2012 at his home.
Mr.
Ryan was born on Friday, January 10, 1930 in Newark, NJ to the late
John &
Sarah Scorrer Ryan. John began his 41 year law enforcement career in
his New
Jersey where he attained the rank of Captain. He then became a Deputy
Sheriff
for Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office where he retired in 2000. He and
his
wife, Barbara moved to Blairsville where they were members of the First
Baptist
Church of Blairsville. John was a member of the Okeechobee Masonic
Lodge #237
and also Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of Lake Worth Orient of
Florida.
He
will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by
his
family: his loving wife, Barbara A. Ryan of Blairsville; son &
daughter-in-law, Douglas John & Rachel Ryan; son &
daughter-in-law,
John & Aleta Crough; daughter and her fiance, Valerie Hickman &
Larry
Hawk; daughter & son-in-law, Susan & Victor Icenhower;
granddaughter,
Alli Ryan; grandson, Jason Crough; grandson & his wife, Kenny &
Kayla
Hickman; cousin, Clara Dasenburg; niece & her husband, Betty Haynes
&
Gary Dean; great nephew & his wife, Henry P. Haynes III & Anna;

nephew & his wife, Kelsey Ryan Haynes & Beth.
Funeral
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from the Chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Bob Crowe officiating. A
eulogy
was shared by Mr. Floyd Petty and a Masonic Tribute was given by
Brother Rick
Siefken of Young Cane Lodge. The family received friends at the funeral
home
from 11 until the service began. Interment held at Tri-Cities Cemetery
in
Florence, AL.

Mr.
Robert Junior Simmonds, age 63, of Coopers Creek Rd., Suches passed
away on
Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at his home from injuries received in a lawn
mower
accident. Mr. Simmonds was born on April 3, 1949 in Blue Ridge, GA, the
son of
Bertha Winkler Simmonds and the late Elbert Simmonds. After retirement,
Robert
and his wife Pat moved back to Suches about four years ago from
Gainesville
where they had resided for the past forty-two years. Robert loved
cutting grass
and working on vehicles. His passion was driving a tractor trailer. He
was a
loving husband, son, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death
by his
father, Elbert Simmonds and his step father, Red Simmonds. Robert was
of the
Baptist faith.
Surviving
Robert are his loving wife of forty-six years, Patricia Watkins
Simmonds, two
sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Janet Simmonds of Cleveland, GA,
Randy
and Kimberly Simmonds of Gainesville, one daughter, Kelley Simmonds of
Gainesville, four grandchildren, Andrea, Kyla, Reina and Dorian,
brothers in
law and sisters-in-law, Willard and Mildred Levi of Tampa, FL, Harold
and Marie
Long of Suches, Tommy and Marvine Crawford of Blairsville, Ron and
Irene Troy
of Suches, Leroy and Kathleen of Shiloh, GA, Merritt and Diane Wilson
of
Gainesville, Larry Watkins of Suches, Gary and Cecilia Rutledge of
Gainesville,
Florine Chastain of Suches, Betty Dailey of Suches, Shirley Watkins of
Austell,
GA, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday May 19, 2012 at 1 p.m. from the Mountain
View
Chapel with the Rev. Josh Mulkey officiating. A eulogy was given by his
granddaughter, Andrea Simmonds. Special music was presented by Andrea
Simmonds
and by his nieces Paige Crawford, Lano Ledford, and Ona Huskey. The
family met
with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Mark
Fuller, age 58, died peacefully at his beloved mountain home in
Blairsville, Georgia on Thursday, May 17, 2012. Mark was
preceded in death by his father, Neal Fuller. He is survived by his
wife, Betty
Dalton Fuller; son, Chris Fuller of Atlanta; three step-sons, Shawn
Dalton,
Corey Dalton, and Patrick Dalton all of Atlanta; mother, Kathleen
"Kitty" Lotz of Stone Mountain; two sisters, Mary Ann Fuller of
McDonough and Connie Cobb (Tom) of Roswell; two nieces, Melissa
"Missy" Spruell (Steve) of McDonough and Lesley Grubb (Travis) of
Avondale Estates; nephew, Matthew Cobb of Roswell, mother-in-law, Norma
Gronewold of Fairmont, MN; other relatives and a host of friends.
Mark
was born on February 13, 1954 in Atlanta, GA to Kitty and Neal Fuller.
He graduated
from Tallulah Falls High School in Tallulah Falls, GA and received his
Associate Degree from Reinhardt College. Mark worked in Communication
Sales for
25 years as an executive establishing some of the first mobile phone
sites in
the southeast. He loved classic cars, motorcycles, boating and
gardening at his
home in Blairsville. Mark will be greatly missed by his family and
friends.
The
service celebrating the life of Mark Fuller was held Sunday, May 20,
2012, at
4PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Pastor John Baker
officiating. The
family received friends on Sunday, May 20th from 2PM to 4PM at the
funeral home
until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be
made to the

Mr.
Earl Foster Gibson Jr. of 12 Point Rd., Blairsville, passed away on
Saturday,
May 19, 2012 in the N.E. Georgia Medical Center following an extended
illness.
Mr. Gibson was born on Oct. 31, 1935 in Wilmington, NC, the son of the
late
Earl Foster Gibson Sr. and the late Elizabeth King Gibson. Earl was a
veteran
of the US Air Force of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the
Military with over thirty-three years of service. He served in the US
Navy, the
US Army and the US Air Force. He proud of his military career and was
proud to
be an American. He was a member of the American Legion for over fifty
years,
the VFW and was a Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge F&AM. His
hobbies
included golfing and wood working in his shop. He was a loving husband,
father,
brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by
a
grandson, Jimmy Lee Thompson. Earl attended Ivy Log Baptist Church.
Surviving
Earl are his loving wife of fifty-six years, Vaunda Scudder Gibson of
Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Ellen Gibson of
Jacksonville, FL, Susan (Thompson) and Fred Comer of Blairsville, four
brothers
and sisters-in-law, King and Audean Gibson of Canada, Warren and Dora
Gibson of
Wilmington, NC, Bill and Jill Gibson of Tuscon, AZ, Bruce and Fran
Gibson of
San Jose, CA, five grandchildren, Bobby Thompson, Steven, Jessica and
Jacque
Gibson and Biaca Fulford, four great- grandchildren, Kaylyn, Nolan,
Bobby Ray
and Elizabeth, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In

Mrs.
Martha "Marti" An Morris, age 73, of Sunrise Drive, Blairsville
passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at her home following an extended
illness. Mrs. Morris was born on Jan. 5, 1939 in Dallas, TX, the
daughter of
the late Albert B. Meyer and the late Martha E. Whitehead Meyer. Marti
was an
Ambassador for Christ, She had taught bible studies and was one who
truly loved
her church and the Lord. She submitted the weekly "Encouragement from
the
Master" articles in the North Georgia News for several years. Her
hobbies
included sewing and she was a very talented artist. Marti was a member
of the
Redeemer Baptist Church in Blairsville.
Surviving
Marti are one daughter and son-in-law, Kellie and Bryan Sampson of
Blairsville,
one son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Becky Morris of Charlotte, NC,
one
brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Tricia Meyer of Alpharetta, GA,
five
grandchildren, Stephen Asbury Long, Dustin Kyle Sampson, Susanna Grace
Long,
Elizabeth Christine Long and Chloe Grace Morris, one niece, Claudia
Meyer, one
nephew, Eric Meyer, a host of church family, many other relatives and
friends
also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the
Antioch
Baptist Church with the Rev. George Cline and Rev. Bill Schakat
officiating.
Marti lay in state at the church on Saturday from 10:30-11:00. Special
music
was presented by Michael and Jennifer Roderick. The following gentleman
served
as pallbearers, Robby Morris, Bryan Sampson, Stephen Long, Dusty
Sampson, Derek
Goss and Clarence Phillips. Interment followed in the Antioch Baptist
Church
Cemetery.
