Mr.
Willard Souther, age 69, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away, Friday,
May 14,
1999 in M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. Mr.
Souther was born on Sunday, October 6,
1929, a son of the late Grayson Clarence Souther and Lydia Jane Dyer Souther in Union County, Georgia.
Mr. Souther lived and worked in various parts
of the country; before moving back to Union County in 1995. He was a 32nd Degree mason.
He was a veteran of the U.s. Army and served
during the Korean War. Mr. Souther
worked in heavy construction as a project manager for many years.
Survivors
include: his wife, Sue Hunter Souther, of Blairsville; son, Scott
Souther, of
Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and John Souther, both of
Nashville. Many friends and other
relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, May 18, 1999 at 2 p.m. from Old Liberty
Baptist
Church, with Rev. Harley Hunter and Rev. B.A. Buchanan officiating. Special music was presented by Old Liberty
Church Choir. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers: Duane Dyer, Sonny Dyer, A.J. Whimpey, Franklin
Hunger,
Eric England, and Charles Jenkins. The
following gentlemen served as honorary escort to the family: Larry
Brackett,
Chris Redden, Tom Tangen, Kurt Karnatz, Pedro Alvarez, Kevin Sommers,
and Tim
Mueller. Interment was in Old Liberty
Baptist Cemetery.

Mr.
James D. Potts, age 72, of Capac, passed away, Saturday morning in the
Mount
Clemens General Hospital.
He was born
March 29, 1927, to William and Mary Eliza (Reece) Potts in Blairsville,
Georgia. James was united in marriage
with the former Ella Mae Queen. He later
married the former Ethel Sabisch on July 21, 1961 in Trenton, Michigan.
Mr. Potts
was an upholsterer at Fraser Upholstery for twenty two years before
retiring in
1997 and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving
is his wife,, Ethel, twelve children, J.W. and
(Betty) Potts of white, Georgia; Patricia (Rev. Waymon) Lovell of
Blairsville,
GA; Mary Elizabeth (Ben) Burrell of Blairsville, GA; LaWanda (Randall)
Titshaw
of Sugar Hill, GA; Debrah (Thomas( Gunn of Clinton, Township; Dwain
(Tammy)
Potts of Melvin, Michigan; Robert (Rhonda) Potts of Wales, Michigan;
Earl
Sprague of Muskegon; Richard (Patricia) Sprague of Macomb; Michael
Sprague of
Fredrickson, Missouri; Leah (Gary) Trunace of Bidwell, Ohio; and Amanda
(Bill)
Dailey of Wellston, Ohio; twenty-six grandchildren and six great
grandchildren.
James was
preceded in death by a grandson Douglas Cochrane,
his brother, Wymer Potts and his sister, Mary Lavona Duncan.
A
memorial service was held at 1 P.M., Sunday, May 23, 1999
in the Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, with Rev. Waymon Lovell
officiating.

Mr.
Elbert Plott, age 72, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, May
17, 1999
in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr. Plott was born in Arnoldsville, Georgia, on FRIDAY, October
29,
1926, a son of the late Smith Plott and Nora Smith Plott.
He had lived most of this life in Union
County and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors
include his wife, Annie Mae Mason Plott, of Blairsville; sisters: Alice
Hood,
Nan Adams, and Ruth Cantrell, all of Blairsville; brothers: Worth Plott
and
Paul Plott, also of Blairsville; many friends and other relatives also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, May 19, 1999 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Horace Potts officiating. Special music was presented by The Kelley
Trio. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: W.H. Hood, Ervin Plott, Cecil Brown, Steve Brown, Lee
Knight, and
Tommy Adams. Interment was in Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr.
Wayne Griffith, age 56, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday,
May 18,
1999 in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr.
Griffith was a native of California, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of
Vietnam. He had lived in Blairsville
since 1980, coming here from Marietta.
Mr. Griffith was a member of Murphy, NC 7th Day Adventist Church. He was a member of GA. Associates of
Physician Assistants, and was a partner of Hillcrest Family Care Walk
in
Medical Clinic, of Blairsville and Hiawassee.
He had been preceded in death by his father, D.K. Griffith.
Survivors
include his wife, Wanda Griffith, of Blairsville; mother, Connie
Griffith, of
Orlando; daughter and son in law: Ghena and Jack Clower, of
Douglasville, GA;
sister and her husband, Darlene and Gary Winter, of Orlando; sister,
Denise
Griffith, of Orlando; brother and his wife, Daniel and JoElle Griffith,
of
Smyrna; grandson: Brent Clower, and granddaughter, Taylor Clower, both
of
Douglasville; nephew: Kristopher Griffith, of Smyrna; many other
relatives and
friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, May 21, 1999 at 11:30 a.m. from the chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with pastor
Mitch
Hazecamp and Pastor Joe Blevins officiating.

of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to
