elda mae totherow davis

 

Elda Mae Totherow Davis, age 81, of Blue Ridge passed away Sunday, May 18, 2003 in the Copper Basin Medical Center.  Born in Union County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Floy Neal Totherow.  She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William Davis; a sister, Pauline Payne; and a brother, Charles Totherow.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eulis and Virginia Davis of blue Ridge and Dan Davis of Blue Ridge; four daughters and sons-in-law, Azzalee and Larry Keener of Rabun Gap, GA; Imajean and Ben Trammell of Cherry Log, GA; Floy Jane and William E. Marr of Warrenton, GA; and Martha Sue and Roger Aaron of Blue Ridge; a brother, Calvin Totherow of Cleveland, GA; a sister, Robe Keener of Rabun Gap, GA’ 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, may 20, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Wayne Mashburn officiating.  Music was by Regina Morgan.  Pallbearers were Malcom Davis, Michael Davis, Jeff Ledford, Perry Ledford, Darren Ledford, Eddie Marr, J.R. Evans, and Wendell Keener.  Interment followed in the Davis Cemetery in Coopers Creek.  Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.

mr. dennis roger risser

 

Mr. Dennis Roger Risser, age 60, of Boemanns St., Blairsville, formerly of Ashland, OH, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2003 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mr. Risser was born on Jan. 9, 1943 in Ashland, OH, the son of the late Jerome Elwood Risser and the late Doris Casto Boyd.  He had worked at A.L. Garber in Ashland, OH for over thirty eight years.  He was a member of the Ashland County Central Labor Council and was past president of 334 Graphic Communications Int. Union in Ashland.  He was Ginny’s life, soul mate and her beloved.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Boyd.  Mr. Risser attended Providence Methodist Church.

Surviving Mr. Risser are his loving wife, Virginia (Ginny) Risser of Blairsville; one daughter, Laura Risser Vela of TX; three sons and two daughter in laws: Bryon Risser of Oregon, Bill and Deborah Boemanns of Blairsville, Erick and Nicole Boemanns of NJ; one brother, Donald Boyd of Carrollton, NY; nine grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, one great niece, many other relatives, friends and neighbors also survive.

Services for Mr. Risser will be held on Saturday, may 31, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Providence Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Gillispie officiating.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to a charity of our choice in Mr. Risser’s memory.

william e. “jim” mason

 

William E. “Jim” Mason, age 75, of Alto, GA, died Thursday, may 22, 2003 at the Habersham County medical Center.

Mr. mason was born on September 26, 1927 in Union County, Georgia.  He was the son of the late Claude and Inda Seabolt Mason.  Mr. mason was a retired inspector with the Chrysler Corporation with 31 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: his wife: Lois Dyer Mason, Alto, GA; 5 step-daughters: Diane Talbert, Warner Robbins, GA; Kathy Bryson, Cartersville, GA; Sheila Freeman, Murphy, NC; patsy Tanner, Braselton, GA; Karla Sprayberry, Blairsville, GA 1 step-son: Douglas Hughes, Blairsville, GA; 1 sister: Claudine Adkins, Rossville, GA; 10 Step-Grandchildren: 1 Step-Great-Grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, may 25, 2003 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin with Rev. Warren “Butch” Nichols and Rev. Gerald Adamson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Alto Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday.
