mrs. lillian roberts combest

 

Mrs. Lillian Roberts Combest, age 89, of Melscove Lane Blairsville passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2002 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. Combest was born on March 19, 1913 in Huntington, WV, the daughter of the late Lyle Russell Roberts and the late Cora Lee Clay Roberts.  Mrs. Combest was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Mr. Combest in 1975.  She was a member of the Central Christian Church of Huntington, WV.

Surviving Mrs. Combest are one daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Dennis MacDiarmid of Blairsville; three grandchildren, Wayne Moran of N. Auroa, IL, Brent Moran of Auroa, IL, and Laura lee Moran of Auburndale, FL; three great grandchildren, Matthew and Tommy Stanley, Carter Acton, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, May 26, 2002 at 2 pm from the Abby of Peach in Huntington, WV, with the Rev. David Chafin officiating.  Interment followed in the Woodmere Memorial Park Cemetery in Huntington, IL.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Gideons in Mrs. Combests Memory.

mrs. penny rebecca breedlove-amara

 

Mrs. Penny Rebecca Breedlove-Amara, age 42, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2002, at her home.

Penny was born in Fulton County, Dec. 25, 1959.  She moved to Blairsville 10 years ago from Snellville, GA.  Penny worked at the Nelsonís Ace Hardware as office manager and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and a member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville.  She was preceded in death by a brother, David Godfrey.

She is survived by her husband, Church Amara of the home; parents: Clinton and Alma Godfrey of Chamblee, GA; son: Eric Shofner Breedlove of Blairsville, GA; step-son: Chad and Kim Amara of Blairsville, GA; step-daughter, Sarah Virginia and Jerald K. Ashton of Cherry Point, GA and Mary Ann Jet of Lawrenceville, GA; brothers: Johnny Godfrey of Comer, GA and Bruce Godfrey of Norcross, GA; granddaughter, Cheyenne Sioux Amara of Blairsville, GA.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 26, 2002, at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Blairsville with Rev. Danny Parris and Rev. Beverly Harris officiating.  Music was provided by Neal and Patsy Efird, The Soaring Spirits, Lisa Fields, Beverly Harris and Peggy Lemon.  Pallbearers were: J.B. Reeves, Scott Nelson, Fred Woodward, Bill Foster, John Lemmon and Don Morris.  Interment was in Union Memory Gardens.

dora (payne) johnson

 

Dora (Payne) Johnson, age 82, of Blairsville, GA, passed away at New Horizon West Nursing Home on May 10, 2002.  She died of complications of diabetes.  Surviving brothers and sisters are Lee Payne of Blairsville, GA, age 80, Bob Payne of Forest Park, GA, age 74, Arlie Payne of Homer, GA, age 66, Zadie (Payne) Dills of Forest Park, GA, age 76, and Audra (Payne) Wiggley of Marietta, GA, age 72.  Dora had no children, but 17 living nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were made by Parkway Gardens Chapel in Forest Park.  Graveside services were held at Forest Park Memorial Gardens at 4 on May 11, 2002.  The family is saddened by their loss, but we know she is happy being with her husband, Sam.
