gary m. gats

We said goodbye to Gary M. Gats, age 68, of Blairsville GA, formerly of Glenview, IL, on May 23, 2013.

He was the love of a lifetime to his wife, Marsha and she to him.  He was an adventurous and loving Dad to Carrie Gats-DeAngeles (Robert) and Amy Pope (Randall) and the adored “Papa” to Jake Kola, Bobby and Michael DeAngeles, and Corina and Cecily Pope.

A veteran, businessman, traveler, he made friends everywhere he went.  Whether on his motorcycle with Marsha, traveling the country in their bus, or walking his favorite dog, Boomer, he never met a stranger.  He will be missed by all of us and will never be forgotten.

For him, “Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in a pretty and well-preserved body but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming,

            WOW! What a Ride.”

A Memorial Service will be held at the  Mountainview Funeral Home Chapel, 513 #3 Murphy Hwy, Blairsville GA (706) 745-3456 at 11 am, Monday, June 3, 2013.  The family will meet with friends at 10-11:00 am on Monday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity closest to your heart.
