mr. lamar faircloth

 

Mr. Lamar Faircloth, age 76, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Atlanta Medical Center.   Mr. Faircloth was born Tuesday, October 8, 1929 in Seminole County, Georgia, to the late Nolan Lamar Faircloth and the late Alice Faircloth.  He was a Navy Veteran of both WWII and Korea.  Lamar was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.  He had participated in a number of roles and ministries during Christian life including ministries with Sandy Cove, Grace Bible Church and Dakar Christian Accademy in Senegal, West Africa.  Mr. Faircloth had been living in Blairsville since 1987, moving there from Jacksonville, Florida.

Survivors include: wife, Beatrice Faircloth of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Teresa Faircloth of Princeton, New Jersey; daughter, Donna Faircloth of Recife, Brazil; son, Dwight Faircloth of Jacksonville; brother, George E. Faircloth of Columbus, Georgia; sister, Velma Elkins also of Columbus; sister, Wilma Jordan of Phoenix City, Alabama; sister, Myrtice Morrow of Columbus; granddaughter, Rebecca Faircloth of Recife, Brazil, and granddaughters, Lauren and Ashley Faircloth, both of Princeton, New Jersey.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, may 23, 2006 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Dr. Fred Lodge and Rev. Gordon Elliott officiating.  Music was provided by Minister R. Terry Hooper.  Interment followed on Wednesday in Georgia Memorial National Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Dr. George Fink, Ron Van Pelt, Billy Davis, Eddie Stearns, Neal Moon and Jim Eggiman.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m., on Monday, May 22nd.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to: Samaritan’s Heart International, P.O. Box 383288, Germantown, TN  38183-3288.

donald bernard esack, sr.

 

Donald Bernard Esack, Sr., 85, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2006, in Blairsville, Ga.  Mr. Esack was born in New York Cit, the son of Walter Esack and Marvinia Jaycox Esack.  He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.  He lived in the Westchester County area for most of his life, before retiring and taking up residence in Port Lucie, Fla., and Ellijay, Ga., before settling in Blairsville, GA.  He was a man of many trades including, the starting of his own business, and constructing his own home.  An avid sportsman, Mr. Esack was an accomplished angler and scored two holes-in-one during his lifetime.  He enjoyed the outdoors, taking hunting and fishing trips out wet and to Alaska.  He was renowned as a host, known as an exceptional cook and entertainer, and was considered a colorful storyteller.  Mr. Esack was preceded in death by his son, Richard Esack.  He is survived by a son, Donald Esack Jr., of Brewster, N.Y., and two daughters, Patricia Esack of North Bend, Wash., and Marilyn Drevik, of Woodstock, Ga., five grandchildren, Donald Esack III, Sue Divesta and Maureen Garland of Brewster; and Erin Brady and Richard Brady of Woodstock, Ga., and by two great-grandchildren, Emily & Lauren Esack of Brewster.

A mass is planned for Friday, June 2, at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Brewster, N.Y.  Internment will be at Gate of heaven cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.  IN lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the USO to assist in their efforts supporting American soldiers, sailors and airmen here and overseas.

reverend buord r. duckworth

 

Reverend Buford R. Duckworth, age 82, of Cleveland, Georgia, formerly of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, may 23, 2006 at North East Georgia Medical Center.

Rev. Duckworth was born Tuesday, October 16, 1923 in Union County, Georgia, to the late Steve and Ellen (Eller) Duckworth.  Rev. Duckworth was a veteran of the U.s. navy.  He was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church, and had been preaching for 50 years and had pastured several area churches.  He had served in the CCC’s in 1940’s.  Rev. Duckworth was preceded in death by first wife, Bonnie, in 1996 and second wife, Edna in 2005; two sons, Troy and Robert Duckworth and a daughter, Regina Buffington.

Survivors include: daughter, Retha Mae Collins of Cleveland, GA; son, Stanley Steve Duckworth, also of Cleveland; daughter, Shirl Herr of Cleveland; daughter, Ellen Cagle of Clermont, Georgia; daughter, Donna Lovell of Jefferson, Georgia; one step-son and five step-daughters; brother, Carlos Duckworth of Blairsville; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren 41 great-great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-great-grandchildren.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Old Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Souther, Rev. Guy Wayne Shook and Rev. Charles Neal officiating.  Music was provided by The Traveling Pilgrims.  Interment followed in Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:  Troy Duckworth, Dewayne Duckworth, Ron Collins, Max Allen, Frank Duckworth, Eddie Rogers.  Serving as honorary pallbearer was Chris Roberts.

The family received friends at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 24.

mr. jeffery thomas lourigan

 

Mr. Jeffery Thomas Lourigan age 49 of Mineral Springs Road, Blue Ridge, formerly of Blairsville and also of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Tuesday May 23, 2006 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. Lourigan was born on June 12, 1956 in West palm Beach, FL, the son of Barbara LaCrosse Lourigan and the late Thomas Frederick Lourigan.  He was a veteran of the US Navy.  He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Lourigan in 2000 and a brother, Michael Lourigan in 1999.  Mr. Lourigan was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving Mr. Lourigan are his loving wife Deborah Lourigan of Vancouver, WA, one daughter and son in law, Korene and Mike Smith of Botell, WA, two sons, Brian and Kevin Lourigan of Vancouver, one brother and sister in law, Timothy and Mona Lourigan of Tucker, GA, one sister, Theresa Moulder of Madison, GA, four grandchildren, Torian, Tristen and Tyler Smith and Kyler Kingdon, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, nay 30, 2006 at 11 a.m. from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church with Father Richard Wise officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Clare’s Columbarium.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the St. Francis of Assisi church building fund in Mr. Lourigan’s memory.

charles a. nichols

 

Mr. Charles A. Nichols, age 47, of Suches, GA, died Saturday, May 27, 2006 at his residence following a brief illness.

Mr. Nichols had lived all of his life in Suches.  He was a farmer and was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Suches.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold “Nick” Nichols.

Mr. Nichols is survived by three sons: A.J. Nichols, Ethan Nichols and Ryan Nichols, all of James Island, SC; mother, Lou Nichols, Suches, GA; sister and brother-in-law: Amanda and Georgia Van Voorhis, Suches, GA; niece and nephew: Cara Van Voorhis and Todd Van Voorhis; fiancé: Joanne Tritt, Suches, GA.  Several other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Nichols were held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 29, 2006 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahkonega with Rev. Clarence Drummond officiating. 

The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
