Mrs.
Juanita Thomas
Nichols, age 90, of Stroud Rd., Blairsville, passed away peacefully on
Tuesday,
May 24, 2011 at her home following a brief illness. Mrs.
Nichols was born on March 14, 1921 in
Union County, the daughter of the late John B. Thomas and the late Mary
Jane
Rogers Thomas. She was a native and
lifelong resident of Union County. Juanita
loved singing and playing her guitar. She
was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was her life. She
was preceded in death by her parents John
and Mary Thomas, her husband, Lee Roy Nichols, two sisters, Adell Potts
and
Opley Botts and also by two brothers, Theodore and Guy Thomas. Mrs. Nichols was a member of Youngstown
Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs.
Nichols are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Frances and Wilson
Sayles of
Blairsville, Irene Turner of Lawrenceville, GA, Marsha and Randy White
of
Blairsville, one son, Ray Nichols of Blairsville, one sister, Gertrude
Raper of
Blairsville, twelve grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many
other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were
held on Friday May 27, 2011 at 3 p.m. from the Mountain View Chapel
with the
Rev. Gary Rogers, Rev. Wade Plott and Rev. Larry Trulove officiating. Special music was presented by Megan Beaver,
Carly Adams, Kelly Helton, Becky Rogers and Nancy Hughes. The following gentleman served as pallbearers,
Aaron Beaver, Tony Nichols, Cody White, Trent Dyer, Evan Hughes, Larry
Trulove,
Anthony Olson and Trevor Dyer. Interment
followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family met with
friends
at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Robert
"Robb" Hugh Moss, Sr., age 79, of Blairsville, GA, went home to be
with Jesus on Monday, May 23, 2011, at the Union General Hospital
following a
sudden illness. Robb was born on March
19, 1932 in Elizabethton, TN, the son of the late Brodie Rhea Moss and
the late
Mattie Miller Carr Moss. Robb earned his
Master's Degree in Education from Florida State University and was an
avid
Seminoles fan. Robb was a teacher and
coach, and was Director of Athletics in both Brevard and Hillsborough
Counties
in Florida. He later served with the
Charlotte County School Board as Supervisor of Adult and Community
Education
for over 20 years. He was a loving
husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Robb
was a member of the House of Prayer
Church, Blairsville, GA.
Surviving
Robb are
his loving wife, Barbara Affolter Moss of Blairsville; one daughter and
son-in-law, Dr. Cindy Tucker and Dr. Edward Graesser of Williamstown,
NJ; one
son and daughter-in-law, Robert Hugh, Jr. and Susan Moss of Panama City
Beach,
FL; one brother and sister-in-law, Bradley Wayne and Connie Moss of
Nashville,
TN; two grandchildren, Stephen Robert Moss and Matthew Joseph Graesser,
and
other extended family members. He was
preceded in death by a brother, Paul Carr Moss, and a sister, Dorothy
Moss
Barker.
A
Celebration of
Life Service were (sic) held on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.
at the
House of Prayer Church with the Reverend Bill Schakat officiating.
Special
music was presented by the House of Prayer Church Choir. In
lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family
requests that donations be made to the House of Prayer Church Choir in
memory
of Robb Moss. Friends called one hour
prior to the service at the church.

Mr.
Robert
"Bob" Lee Anderson, age 80, of Raspberry Trail, Blairsville, passed
away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2011 at his home following an
extended
illness. Mr. Anderson was born on June
19, 1930 in Union County, the son of the late Wash Anderson and the
late Ellie
Maney Anderson. He was a native and
lifelong resident of Union County. Bob
enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He
was a loving father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death his wife Donnie Grant
Anderson in May of 2010, a son, Cecil Anderson in 2005 and by two
sisters,
Evelyn Stepp and Callie Barker and by four brothers, Charlie, Baxter,
Frank and
Beecher Anderson. Mr. Anderson attended
South End Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mr.
Anderson are five daughters and four sons-in-law, Ann and Ottis
Franklin,
Brenda Anderson, Dora Davenport and Wesley Totherow, Becky and Tim
Rich, Peggy
and Ken Denning all of Blairsville, two sons and one daughter-in-law,
James
Anderson, Brandon and Melisia Anderson all of Blairsville, one brother,
Huey
Anderson of Blairsville, seven grandchildren, David and Tascha
Franklin, Jamie
Anderson, Samantha Franklin, Cary and Jessica Rich, Chris Anderson,
Kellie
Denning and Summer Anderson, three great grandchildren, Maddie
Franklin, Jada
Lovell and Kenzie Hullett, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral
services were
held on Thursday May 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. from the Mountain View Chapel
with the
Rev. Aud Brown officiating. The following gentlemen served as

Gibson, Kenny Jones, Jerry Anderson, Melvin Gibson, Junior Franklin and

Mrs.
Cindy Marie
McConn age 51 of Hwy. 515 East, Blairsville passed away on Monday,
April 4,
2011 following a brief illness. Mrs.
McConn was born on July 15, 1959 in Lexington, MA, the daughter of
Arthur
Millican and Patricia Miller Millican. Cindy
was an ice skating pro and coach and had taught ice skating in the
Atlanta area
for over ten years. She had been
employed with Walmart and Home Depot. At
the time of her death she was employed with Brasstown Valley Resort. Cindy was a loving and kind person who was
always happy. She was of the Methodist
faith.
Surviving
Cindy are
her parents, Arthur and Patricia Millican of Blairsville, two
daughters,
Brittany Bottoms of Marietta and Candie Perry of Ooltewah, TN, three
brothers
and two sisters-in-law, Arthur Millican, Jr. of Blairsville, Robin
Allen and
Melanie Millican of Largo, FL, Bradley and Joan Millican of St. Pete,
FL, many
other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service
will be held on Sunday, June 4, 12011 at 3:30 p.m. from the Mountain
View
Funeral Home Chapel with Minister terry Stuart officiating. The family will meet with friends at the
funeral home on Sunday evening from 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. In

Mr. Doyle
Bruce
Smith, age 52, of Leisure Acres, Blairsville, formerly of Mableton, GA
passed
away on Monday, May 23, 2011 following a brief illness. Mr.
Smith was born on Jan. 12, 1959 in Cobb
County, GA, the son of Ruby Ruth Tumlin Smith and the late Robert
Marion Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father,
Robert Marion Smith in 1999 and by a brother, Robert Noel Smith in
2002. Mr. Smith was of the Baptist faith
and
attended House of Prayer Church.
Surviving
Mr. Smith
are his mother, Ruby Smith of Marietta, one sister, Elaine Howell of
Blairsville, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends
also
survive.
A
memorial service
will be held at a later date and will be announced. In

Mrs.
Pinkie Lee
Emerson, age 79, of Panther Top Rd., Murphy formerly of Blairsville,
passed
away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Emerson was born on August 18, 1931 in
Elbert County, GA, the daughter of the late Lee Bennett and the late
Daisy Mae
Ferguson Bennett. She was a Union County
resident for most of her life. She had a
lifetime of this and that, one thing or another. She
loved keeping up with her family. She was
preceded in death by her husband,
Jimmy Lee Emerson in 1982 and by an infant daughter, Janie Mae Emerson.
Mrs.
Emerson was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs.
Emerson are two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan (Posey) and Terry
Neumann of
Murphy, Joyce and Perry Moore of Murphy, one son, Jerry Emerson of
Trion, GA,
one brother, Frank Bennett of Elberton, GA, two sisters, Blondine
Massey and
Linda Jo Dowell both of Canon, GA, eight grandchildren, Michelle and
Larry
Spies, Heather (Posey) and Anthony Rice, Crystal and Jesse Navarro,
T.J. Posey,
Sara Posey, James Posey, Orrin Moore and Caroline Moore, seven
great-grandsons,
Luke, Aaron, Tommy, Landen, Joey, A.J. and Jeremiah, many other
relatives and
friends also survive.
Funeral

held on Monday May 30, 2011 at 3 p.m. from the Mountain View Chapel
with the
Rev. L.B. Adams officiating. Special
music was presented by Pam Keough. The
following gentleman served as pallbearers, Larry Spies, Jesse Navarro,
Orrin
Moore, James Posey, Luke Posey and Aaron Spies. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, the family

Mrs. Ruth
Gladys
Plott Cantrell, age 97, of Blairsville, GA who passed away Monday, May
23, 2011
in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville
Ruth was
born on Sunday,
October 26, 1913 in Towns County, GA, a daughter of the late Smith and
Nora
Plott. She was a member of Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church and had a passion for flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Will
Cantrell; infant son, Max Hemphill; grandsons, Michael Walden and
Walter Ogden,
Jr.; her parents and all thirteen siblings.
Mrs.
Cantrell is
survived and will be missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and
Wanda
Cantrell of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, James Hemphill and
Maxine
Collins of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Walter
Ogden of
Jesup, GA; daughter, Sue Walden of Dahlonega; daughter, Johnnie Height
of
Hampton, GA; daughter, Bennie Quirk of San Marcos, CA and son, Elwood
Hemphill.
Many grandchildren, great grandchildren
and several great-great grandchildren also survive.
Graveside
services were
held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church
with Rev. Guy Bradley officiating. The
family received friends at the Cochran Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until
noon on
Wednesday. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers; Rex Hemphill, Jerry Hemphill, Kenny Hemphill, Wayne
Roberts,
Homer Powell and Ervin Plott.
