Mr.
Clyde A. Meers, age 68, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, may 28, 1999 at his home.
Mr. Meers
was born on Thursday, July 24, 1930, a son of the late Jackie Meers and Arrie Frasure Meers, in Fannin County,
Georgia. He lived in Canton, Georgia for
27 years and
the last ten years of his life he lived in Blairsville.
Mr. Meers was a member of Coopers Creek
Baptist Church.
Surviving
are his fiancée, Jean Cannon, of
Blairsville;
daughters: Barbara Smith, Linda Young, mark Hicks, and Sonya Walter all
of
Blairsville; sons: Jackie Meers, of Canton, and Johnny Meers, of
Blairsville;
brother, Clifford and sister Lizzie Bramblett, both of dial, Georgia,

grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, may 31, 1999 at 2 p.m. from Coopers Creek
Baptist
Church, with Rev. Jay Bryant officiating.
Special music was presented by The Anderson Family.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Edward Young, Pal Smith, Wendell Payne, Kenny Payne, Jason
Lee,
and Clyde Payne. Interment was in
Coopers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr.
William Preston Martin, age 82, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Saturday,
May 29, 1999 at his home.
Mr. martin was born on Wednesday,
November 15, 1916, Scurry
County, Texas, a son of the late Thomas Alvin Martin and Bessie Rammage
Martin. He had lived in Blairsville
since 1992, moving here from Gatesville, Texas.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.
Surviving are
his wife, Colleen Beeman Martin, of Blairsville; daughters: Janiece
Beinke, of
Blairsville, Sherry Leta Gaillard, of Syracuse, NY; and son, William
Presley
Martin, of Irving, TX; sisters: Eva Beth McCarter, of Snyder, TX; Faye
Rhodes,
of Abilene, TX; and Sylvia Safewright, of El Paso, TX; brother, Harold
martin,
of Aransas Pass, TX; grandchildren: Kip Sitzler, of Birmingham, Melany
Ash, of
Arlington, TX; Tamra Hernandez, Ft. Worth; Patricia La Douceur, of San
Diego;
Catherine Murray, of Studio City, CA; Tom Sitzler, Nashville; Tiffany
Clouse,
of Richmond, VA; and Reid Gaillard, also of Richmond; 9 great
grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at 11 a.m. from the chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Danny Parris officiating. Special music was presented by R. Terry
Hooper. Interment was in Southern
Heritage Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
