Mrs.
Grace Evelyn Vexler, age 91, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Thursday, May
21, 2009.
Mrs.
Vexler was born Wednesday, October 24, 1917 in Ontario,
Canada to the late Wilson Brush and the late Grace Jariett Brush. She moved to Blairsville from Windsor, Canada
in 1998. she
was a registered nurse, mostly private duty until reaching age 70 and
then
volunteered (sic) to take cancer patients for treatments.
She was preceded in death by husband, Harry
Vexler; brothers, Donald and Hayden Brush; and grandson, William Scott
Hoff.
Surviving
family members include: daughter & son-in-law, Ann and Larry
Schafer of
Blairsville; son & daughter-in-law, Robert and Pat Adams of
Lighthouse
Point, FL; grandson, Robb A. Schafer; granddaughters: Holly G. Tuner,
Carrie
Lynn Phares and Shannon Whitehead; and five great grandsons, Chase,
Chandler,
Chayton, Seth and Solomon. Many other relatives and friends also
survive.
No services
are planned at this time.

Mr.
Richard Eric Schmalenberg age 77 of Mtn. cove Ln., Blairsville passed
away on
Tuesday May 26, 2009 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Schmalenberg was born on July 24, 1931 in
Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Martin Schmalenberg and the late Anna
Landala
Schmalenberg. He was a veteran of the US
Navy. Richard loved hunting with his
Beagles. He enjoyed gardening and being
outdoors. He was a huge NASCAR fan. Mr. Schmalenberg was of the Catholic faith..
Surviving Mr.
Schmalenberg are his loving wife of fifty-six years, Barbara Posik
Schmalenberg
of Blairsville, one son, Richard (Richie) Allen Schmalenberg of
Blairsville,
extended family includes Kim and Bruce Widland of Plano, TX, many of
Richard’s
hunting friends, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
service was held on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the Mountain
View Funeral
Home with the Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating.
The family met with friends following the services.

Mr. Bill
Moody, age 80, of Suches, Georgia, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009 at
his
residence.
Bill was
born Wednesday, November 21, 1928 in Waycross,
Georgia, to the late Tam Moody and the late Flora Rich Moody. Bill served in the U.S. navy during the
Korean Conflict, and was a member of the VFW.
He was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association; his
greatest love was motorcycles. He was
preceded in death by a brother, Tam Moody and a sister, Eleanor Duggan.
Surviving
family members include: wife, Joan Moody of Suches; a son, John Moody
of
Florida; daughter, Deborah Wade of Florida; and a sister, Jeanee Boland
of
Lakeland, Florida.
No
services are being planned at this time.
If you
wish, the family suggests that donations may be made to Pulmonary
Fibrosis
Foundation or Georgia Mountains Hospice.

Mr.
Melvin
Eugene Hoffman age 76, of Bulldog Lane, Blairsville, formerly of Tampa,
FL, passed
away on Tuesday May 26, 2009 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Hoffman was born on April 3, 1933 in
Springfield, OH, the son of the late Madeleine Hoffman.
He graduated Plant High School in Tampa, FL,
with the Class of 1951. He was a veteran
of the US Army. He retired from Gator
Ford Truck Sales of Tamp, FL. Melvin
enjoyed woodworking, birdwatching (sic) and horses.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather
and great grandfather. Mr. Hoffman was
of the Methodist faith.
Surviving Mr.
Hoffman are his loving wife of forty-six years, Gloria Knaak Hoffman of
Blairsville, one daughter and son-in-law, Billie-Jean and Steve Fryer
of Jacksonville,
FL, brother and sisters-in-law, Chuck and Marge Cohick of Virginia
Beach, VA,
Ronnie and Rosemary Cohick of Ringold (sic), GA, sister and
brother-in-law,
Bonnie and Tom Platt of Rochester, NY, two grandchildren, Kristin
Weatherford
and Lyndsey Weatherford, two great grandchildren, Kelsey Schuster and
Kourtney
Lister, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service
was held on Saturday, May 30,. 2009
at 10:30 a.m. from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain

officiating. In lieu of flowers

Mr.
Richard
Wallace Terhune age 77 of Enchanted Forest, Blairsville formerly of
Summerfield, FL passed away on Friday, May 29, 2009 in the Union
General
Hospital in Blairsville following an extended illness.
Mr. Terhune was born on April 10, 1932 in
Boston, MA, the son of the late Lloyd W. Terhune and the late Dorothy
Johnson
Terhune. Richard was a Launch Engineer
for the Martin Company in the early years of the space program. After he left the space program he restored
classic cars and airplanes. He was a
loving father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and
friends.
Surviving Mr.
Terhune are two daughters and one-son-in law, (sic) Susan and Jeff
Runco of
Ranson, WV, Nancy Terhune of Camden, SC, two grandchildren, Robert
Motch of
Matawan, NJ, Jeremy Runco of Ranson, WV, many other relatives and
friends also
survive.
A memorial
service and interment will be held at date.

memory of Mr. Terhune.
