Mr. Edward R. Nako, age 69, of Blairsville, GA passed away Monday, June 3, 2007 at his residence after an extended illness.  Mr. Nako was born Tuesday, February 8, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY.  He was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hayesville, NC.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Fran Nako.

Ed and Fran were deeply in love and their time together was blessed.  They lived in Connecticut, New Mexico, Florida, and then retired in Blairsville.

Surviving Mr. Nako is his granddaughter, Lynne Manna.

Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father George Kloster officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hayesville, NC.

elizabeth king davis

 

Mrs. Elizabeth King Davis, age 88, of Blairsville formerly of Flat Creek Circle, Blue Ridge where she lived for over thirty years, moving there from Miami, FL, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 following an extended illness.  Mrs. Davis was born on October 6, 1918 in Winchester, KY, the daughter of the late Clay King and the late Francis Rawlins King.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jenson C. Davis and by a daughter, Dorothy Diane Davis in 1993.  She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Fannin Regional Hospital for over twenty years.  Mrs. Davis was of the Christian faith.

Surviving Mrs. Davis are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Norman and Eunice (June) Davis of Blairsville, James C. Davis of Atlanta, GA; one daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Albert Perez of Arlington, TX; one brother and sister-in-law, Clay and Mary King of Hernando, FL; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. George Cline officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Norman Davis, Jr., Michael Davis, Clint Leatherman, Clay King, Albert Perez and Tom Heiden.  Interment will follow in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery in Blue Ridge.  The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.

fannie mae dyer hedden

 

Fannie Mae Dyer Hedden, age 85, of Dixie Avenue, Cartersville, GA, died Thursday, May 24, 2007.  Mrs. Hedden was born April 2, 1922 in Union County, the daughter of Terrell Ernest Dyer and Love Millsaps Dyer.  She was retired from McLauren Company and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Blairsville.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Ray Hedden, to whom she was married from October 18, 1936 until his death in march of 2002; three sons, Billy Joe Hedden, Richard Wayne Hedden, Raymond Hedden; a sister, Eva Lee Holland; and a brother, James Dyer.

Surviving are her children, Donald and Sue Hedden of Cartersville, Jerry and Glenda Hedden of Powder Springs, Mike Hedden of Dallas; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Effie Lou and Harold Brooks and Hazel and Alfred Hall of Cartersville, Irene Teems of Summerville; brother T.E. Dyer, Jr. of Alabama; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating.  Burial followed in Sunset Memory Gardens.  Pallbearers were Geoff Truan, Harold Books, Ronnie Green, Ricky Brooks, Mark Branham, Steve Hedden, and Russ Hedden.  The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m.

randal mack john beaver

 

Mr. Randall Mack John Beaver, age 67, of lake Cove Lodge Rd., Blairsville passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mr. Beaver was born on December 21, 1939 in Union County, the son of the late Ernest Beaver and the late Vestie Thomas Beaver.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elvie Odom and Inez MaGaha; two brothers, Press and Kermit Beaver.  Mr. Beaver was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Beaver are his loving wife of forty-seven years, Mary (Maggie) Abernathy Beaver of Blairsville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Charles Wright of Blairsville, Belinda and Mark Cash of Alburn, GA, Geraldine and Gregory Boyer of Port St. John, FL; one sister, Birdie Davenport of Morganton; one brother and sister-in-law, J.L. (Loys) and Carolyn Beaver of Blairsville; four grandchildren, Jeremiah and Jonathan Head, Joni and Ed Carney, Vanessa Hilton; three great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Reba and Zachary Carney; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at 3 p.m. form the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Rogers, Rev. Evan Hughes and Rev. Wayland Lovine officiating.  Special music was presented by Evan Hughes.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Terry, Tim, Brian and Chris Beaver, Kenny Chastain and Danny Davenport.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-9 p.m.

“ac” bob Phillips

 

“AC” Bob Phillips, age 71, of Blairsville passed away of a heart attack on June 1, 2007.  He died while kayaking, an activity about which he was passionate.  He was born in Swainsboro, GA and lived in Miami, FL from the age of 7 till he retired 14 years ago and moved to Blairsville with his wife.  He worked for Dade County Fire Fighters at Miami International Airport on the Crash and Survival Team for 27 years.  He as a veteran having served in the Korean War.  He was a pilot and a motorcyclist.

He found peace and joy being on the water and had sailboats all his adult life.  He was an outdoor person who enjoyed adventures.  He was gentle, down to earth, generous, and a hard working man.  He enjoyed quiet and private moments.  He loved to debate issues about which he felt strongly.  He lived life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife Susan and extended family; Ilise and Rubinow, Rachel and Dominec Caruso, Leslie and Steve Greenberg, Shepard and Lorraine Weinswig.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donors favorite charity.

bryan charles malone

 

Mr. Bryan Charles Malone, age 48, of Skeenah Gap Rd., Blairsville formerly of Carson City, NV, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 in the Emory Hospital following a brief illness.  Mr. Malone was born on April 25, 1959 in Anaheim, CA, the son of Wes Malone and Dixie Meyers Malone.  He was a member of the Promise Keepers, The Men’s Group.  He worked in Youth Ministries for many years and also worked at Missions in Los Angeles, CA.  Bryan was a man of integrity who loved his family, loved helping his fellow man and serving God.  He will truly loved forever be missed.  Bryan was a member of the Blairsville Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving Mr. Malone are his loving wife and lifelong sweetheart, Laurie Mossholder Malone of Blairsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Rochelle and Matthew Kronenberg of Gardenville, NV; mother, Dixie Malone of Brey, CA; father, Wes Malone of Carson City, NV; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tracey and Pat Milsop of Salton Sea, CA, Linda and Bill Gile of Whittier, CA; three step-brothers, Kelly, Jeff and Steven O’Brien; one grandchild, Faith Nicole Kronenberg; many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 3 p.m. from the Faith Community Church of the Nazarene in Yorbe Linda, CA with the Rev. P.D. James officiating.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice or to the Blairsville Church of the Nazarene in Mr. Malone’s memory.
