Mrs.
Bettie
Jean Beacham, age 77 of Owenby St., Blairsville formerly of Dallas, GA,
passed
away on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Beacham was born on Sept. 9, 1931 in
Lagrange, GA, the daughter of the late Burl George Henson and the late
Myrtice
McLeod Henson. She was employed with the
Lockheed Martin Plant and also the Sears Roebuck Company for several
years. Bettie loved to read and was a
perfectionist at everything that she did.
She was a beautiful person inside and out. She
was a loving wife, mother, sister,
grandmother and great grandmother. She
was preceded in death by a son, Beau Beacham in 2000 and a sister, pat
Reece. Mrs. Beacham was a member of the
United Methodist church of Dallas.
Surviving Mrs.
Beacham are her loving husband of fifty-six years, Hal Beacham of
Blairsville,
two daughters and sons-in-law, carol and Jeff Goen of Marietta, Cindy
and Rusty
Harvey of Dallas, one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Helen
Henson of
Marietta, seven grandchildren, Mike Burch, Justin Goen, Lee-Ann Doyle,
Beau
Beacham III, Brent Beacham, Tyler Massey and Alison Harvey, eight great
grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A graveside
service was held on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the Paulding
memorial
Cemetery in Dallas, GA. In lieu of
flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to
Alzheimer’s Research in memory of Mrs. Beacham.

martha sue (Susie) lackey thrasher dockery
Mrs.
Martha Sue (Susie) Lackey Thrasher Dockery age 63 of Gertrude Place,
Blairsville
passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009 at her home following a brief
illness. Mrs. Dockery was born on Aug. 30,
1945 in
Murphy, NC, the daughter of Shirley Hedgecock lackey and the late
Harold
Lackey. She was a lifelong resident of
Union County. She loved spending time
with her family and fishing. Martha was
a loving daughter, mother, sister and grandmother.
Mrs. Dockery was a member of Mt. Olivet
Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Dockery are one daughter, Rachel Dyer of Blairsville, one son, Harold
9and his
special friend Renee) Thrasher of Murphy, two stepsons, Rev. bobby and
Judy
Thrasher of Murphy, Frankie Jones of Murphy, two sisters and one
brother-in-law, Reita Wright of Rawlins, WY, Jolynn and Ray Ingram of
Blairsville, three brothers and one sister-in-law, Donald and Doreen
lackey of
Blairsville, Bruce (and special friend, Sue Hughes) of Blairsville, and
Gary
lackey of Blairsville, five grandchildren, Cassie and Kevin Dyer,
Camille, Cody
and Brandon Thrasher, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Evan Hughes officiating.
Special music was presented by Evan Hughes, Tammy Green, Harold
and
Doris Howard, James and Betty Robertson.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Rev. Bobby
Thrasher, Ray
Ingram, Kevin Dyer, Cody Thrasher, Ralph Beaver and Wayne Hedgecock. Interment followed in the Mt. Olivet Baptist
Church Cemetery. The family met with
friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening after 6 p.m.

Mr. Bill
Moody, age 80, of Suches, Georgia, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009 at
his
residence.
Bill was
born Wednesday, November 21, 1928 in Waycross,
Georgia, to the late Tam Moody and the late Flora Rich Moody. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the
Korean Conflict, and was a member of the VFW.
He was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association; his
greatest love was motorcycles. He was
preceded in death by a brother, Tam Moody and a sister, Eleanor Duggan.
Surviving
family members include: wife, Joan Moody of Suches; a son, John Moody
of
Florida; daughter, Deborah Wade of Florida; and a sister, Jeanee Boland
of
Lakeland, Florida.
No services
are being planned at this time.
If you
wish, the family suggests that donations may be made to Pulmonary
Fibrosis
foundation or Georgia Mountains Hospice.

Mrs.
Sharon P. Redditt, age 52, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Tuesday, June
2, 2009 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Sharon
was a native of Richmond, Indiana, and was a daughter
of the late John J. Poindexter and the late Gladys Gilmore Poindexter. She had lived in Blairsville since 1987,
moving here from Orlando, Florida. A
member
of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, Sharon had served as an
interpreter for
the deaf during First Baptist church worship services.
In Orlando, Sharon was an interpreter for the
deaf for the public school system, and interpreted for Billy graham
Crusades. She had been active in the
Christian Women’s
Club, and was a substitute teacher for the Union County School System.
Surviving
family members are her loving husband, Kenley Redditt, of Blairsville;
brothers
and sisters-in-law, Bob and Kay Poindexter, of Merritt Island, Florida;
and
Mike and Linda Poindexter, of Branford, Florida. Many
nieces, nephews, and other relatives and
friends also survive.
Memorial
services were held Sunday, June 7, 2009, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist
church of
Blairsville, with Dr. Fred Lodge officiating.
Special music was presented by Minister of Music R. Terry Hooper
and
Mrs. Jackie Hill. Visitation with the
family was held at the church, one hour prior to the memorial service.

Mr.
Stafford
Glynn Sherrod, age 83 of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday,
June 3,
2009 at Union General Hospital in
Blairsville. Mr. Sherrod was born
Thursday, April 1, 1926 in Thomas County, Georgia, to the late James
Stafford
Sherrod and the late Gladys Beatrice Edmondson Sherrod.
He was a Navy veteran of WWII, Korea and
Vietnam. Her served in the Pacific
Theatre during WWII and was preceded in death by first wife, Rita
Sherrod and
second wife, Irene Salyers Sherrod.
Survivors includes:
wife, Gloria Maugaman Sherrod of Blairsville; sons, James Stafford
Sherrod II
of Placerville, California, and Donald Glenn Sherrod of King, North
Carolina;
brother, Paul James Sherrod of Pavo, Georgia; six grandchildren and 5
great
grandchildren; step-daughter, Kimberle Vaughan of Merritt Island,
Florida; two
step-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 2 PM from the Cochran
Funeral Home
Chapel with Chaplain Roy Bateman officiating.
Interment was in Union Memory Gardens with Military Honors
conducted by
the North Georgia Honor Guard.

Mrs.
Roberts was born September 18, 1929 in Union County,
GA. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Level Creek United
Methodist church in Suwanee, GA. Funeral
services were held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel
of
Flanigan Funeral Home with rev. Michael Martin officiating. Interment followed in memorial
Park Cemetery in Gainesville, GA. The

Mrs. Mary
Loraine Moore age 89 of Old Morganton Hwy., Suches passed away on
Saturday,
June 6, 2009 in the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta following an
extended
illness. Mrs. Moore was born on April 1,
1920 in Cobb County, the daughter of the late William Jackson Davis and
the
late Rhoda Jane Gilbert Davis. She was a
lifelong resident of Fannin County. Mary
loved to hunt, fish, quilting and going to church.
She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother,
great and great-great grandmother. She was
a member of the daughters of the
confederacy. Mary was preceded in death
by her husband, William Pryor Moore in 1974, two brothers, Denver and
William
Davis, four sisters, May, Ery, Ruby and Lily.
Mrs. Moore was a member of Coopers Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Moore are one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy (Janie) and Melvin Turner
of
Suches, two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Helen Cork of
Winder, GA,
Joe and Hazel Christopher of Dahlonega, one sister, Daisy Yonts of
Suches, five
grandchildren, Justin Turner, Melissa Hoshaw, Joe Christopher Jr.,
Donald Cork
and Joyce Crawford, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the Coopers
Creek
Baptist Church with the Rev. George Burch and Rev. Lou Crawford
officiating. A
eulogy was given by daughters of the Confederacy. Special
music was presented by the Coopers
Creek Church Choir and Cathy Hyde Bruce.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Ronnie Pirkle,
Kevin
Bird, Joel Gooch, Doyle Long, Calvin Lowman and David Rich. Serving
as honorary pallbearers: Noah Turner, Robert Jones and
Randall Chris McCray. Interment
followed in the church cemetery. The
family met with friends at the funeral home on Monday after 12 p.m. flowers are
accepted
