Mr.
Robert Temple Johnson, age 64, of Crump Creek Rd., Blairsville formerly
of
Lucas, TX, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at his home following
an
extended illness. Mr. Johnson was born
on July 14, 1943 in Dallas, TX, the son of the late Edward Johnson
and the late Peggy Donald Johnson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He had retired from IBM with over twenty-five years of service
and had
also retired from Harley Davidson of Dallas, TX. Mr.
Johnson was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving
Mr. Johnson are his loving wife, Barbara Griffin Johnson of
Blairsville; one
brother and sister-in-law, Don and Bonnie Johnson of Houston, TX;
niece, Vikki
and Dan Stojanovich of Jackson, CA; nephew, Eric and Debbie Johnson of
Powder
Springs, GA; many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date. In
lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family
requests that memorial may be made to an Animal Rescue Group of your
choice in
memory of Mr. Johnson.

Mrs.
Janie Ruth Payne, age 65, of Emmett Payne Drive, Blairsville passed
away
peacefully in the arms of her husband at her home on Tuesday, June 3,
2008. Mrs. Payne was born on November
20, 1942 in Fannin County, GA, the daughter of the late Drew Callihan
and the
late Essie Dillard Callihan. Janie was a
loving wife and mother and was a friend to many. She
will be missed, not only by her family,
but by all who knew her. Mrs. Payne was
of the Baptist faith.
Surviving
Mrs. Payne are her loving husband and best friend of forty-seven years,
Emmett
Payne of Blairsville; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Faye Payne
of Blairsville;
two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Jean Raper of IN, Otis and
Polly
Raper of Farner, TN: several nieces, nephews and many other relatives
and
friends also survive.
Graveside
services were held on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 3
p.m. from the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family and friends were led in prayer by
Dr. Phillip Meeks. Special music was
presented
by Herbert and Joyce Teague, Ted Holbrooks, Ethan and McCoy Walker. the
following gentlemen served as pallbearers, JM Grizzle,
McCoy and Dennis Walker, Grady Jones, Larry Payne and Denver Garrett. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Ethan
Walker, Jim Postell, Leon Davenport, Daryl Shook, Herbert Teague, Leon
Wells
and Dr. George Gowder.

Mrs.
Bonnie Thomas Boiter, age 85, of Blue Ridge Hwy., Blairsville passed
away on
Friday, June 6, 2008 in
Union General
Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs.
Boiter was born on May 5, 1923 in Union County, the daughter of the
late Ed
Bryant and the late Beulah Queen Bryant.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Bonnie enjoyed traveling all over the country
and seeing different sites and places with her best friend, Claude
Goodwin. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Andrew J. Boiter in 1991 and by her first husband, Cecil
Thomas in
1979, also by a son, Jerry Thomas; brothers, Howard and Ford Bryant and
a
sister, Lorene Mason. Mrs. Boiter was a
member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Boiter are two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Jan Thomas of
Blairsville,
Jimmy and Claudine Thomas of Blairsville; two sisters and one
brother-in-law,
Pauline and Ronald Taylor of Blairsville, Lucille Warren of Atlanta; a
very
special friend, Claude Goodwin of Simpsonville, SC; four grandchildren,
Shane,
Cory, Jenna and Jillian Thomas; two great-grandchildren, trey and
Lindsey
Thomas; many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 3 p.m.
from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Harrison Bradley officiating. Special music was presented by the Kelley
Trio and Jenna Thomas. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers, Shane, Trey and Cory Thomas, Tommy
Lovell,
Larry Stover and Brad Berrong. Interment
followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr.
John Hastle Parker, age 85, of Suches, GA passed away on Wednesday,
June 4,
2008 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Parker was
born in
Fannin County, GA, but lived most of his life in Union County. He was a retired farmer, a long time member
of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church #2 in Suches, and served his country
during WWII
in the U.A. Army. He was the son of the
late Jim and Ida Cantrell Parker. He was
also preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Junior Parker; brothers,
Hobert,
Henry, and Hayden Parker; sisters, Mary Gooch and Minnie Bell Watkins.
Mr. Parker
is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Florine Parker of Suches,
GA; son
and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Marty Parker of Suches, Ga; daughters
and
sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Edward Talley of Newnan, GA, Maggie Brown of
Stockbridge GA, Kathy Coker of Ellenwood, GA, and Irene and Greg Stone
of
Sharpsburg, GA; brothers, Harold Parker of Morganton, GA, James Parker
of
Romulus MI, Elmer Gene Parker of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Adell Floyd of
Stockbridge, GA and Gladys Gilreath of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren,
Greg
Miller, Tracy Coker and Leslie Parker; great-grandchildren, Tyler
Miller, mason
Miller, Madison Coker, and Lanier coker; a number of other relatives
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 1 p.m.
at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church #2 in Suches, GA with Rev. William
Phillips,
Rev. Everett Thompson, and Rev. Joe Hulsey officiating.
Mr. Parker lay in state at the church on
Saturday from 12 noon until 1 p.m.
Interment followed in the church cemetery with military honors
provided
by the Veterans Alliance Honor Guard.
The family received friends at the funeral home on FRIDAY from 5
p.m.
until 9 p.m.

Mr.
Frank Grant Gayle, age 79, of Walnut Springs Rd., Blairsville passed
away on
Saturday, May 31, 2008 at his home following a sudden illness. Mr. Gayle was born on March 7, 1931 in
Jacksonville, FL, the son of the late Laurence Gayle and the late Anna
Grant
Gayle. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Navy. He had retired as a
Pharmacist. One of his hobbies was being
an avid photographer. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Doris Pearson Gayle in 2004.
Mr. Gayle was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr.
Gayle are two sons, Howard Gayle of Campbell City, CA, Terry Gayle of
Friday
Harbor, WA; one brother, Laurence Gayle, Jr. of Charleston, SC; one
sister,
Isabel Dunphy of Dahlonega, GA; all of his church family; a host of
loving and
caring neighbors; many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date and will be
announced. In lieu of flowers, if you
