Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville announce
(sic) the death of Dr. Herschel Carl Aldrich.
Herschel
Carl Aldrich was born in India in 1902, the son of
Methodist missionaries. He came to the
United States to attend college and medical school at Ohio State
University. In Ohio he met and married
Mildred Stewart and they went together, back to India as medical
missionaries. Dr. Aldrich worked as
hospital administrator and chief surgeon, training many fine surgeons,
at the
Methodist Hospital in Gujaret State, India.
While in
India, Herschel was an avid natural historian,
collecting butterflies and enjoying fishing and hunting at a time when
India
was very remote.
Herschel
received the alumni achievement award from the
College of Medicine, Ohio State University, and more recently, the
Friend of
India Award from the India American Cultural Association.
He was
preceded in death by his son, Douglas Herschel Aldrich, and is survived
by his
wife, Mildred Aldrich, three daughters, Nancy Inman of san
Diego, Ann Dockery of Blairsville, Carol Sandlin of Atlanta; three
sons-in-law,
eleven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

Mr. Ed
Hollingsworth, 66, died June 4, 199 at his home in crystal River,
Florida. He was a summer resident of
Blairsville for
10 years. He was a retired Optician and
an avid fisherman He
is a member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, Crystal River, Florida.
Surviving
are his wife, Nita, of 44 years; one stepdaughter, Becky Cobb of
Lithonia,
Georgia; four step-grandchildren, and two step-great grandchildren.
