Burl
Edward Owenby, 78, died April 23, 2012,
at Garden Valley Manor, Kansas City, MO, where he resided.
He was born October 20, 1933 at home in
Blairsville, GA, a twin and youngest of 12 children, to crop farmers
Joseph
Gordon and Laura Adeline Brown Owenby, and the grandson of John and
Americus
Owenby and Jeff and Mandy Brown.
Burl received his education in
Blairsville, GA, attended Ebenezer Baptist Church where his maternal
grandfather, Jeff Brown, was once the pastor, and at the age of 16,
accepted
Christ as his savior.
He worked in the home improvement
trade, then as a self-employed electrician until his retirement in 1992.
Burl is survived by five sons, Burl
Owenby, wife, Teresa, their two sons, Andy Owenby and Paul Jordan, West
Plains,
MNO; Bryan Owenby, wife, Drucilla, their three daughters, Stormy
Owenby,
Willard, MO and Ashley Owenby and Sarah Owenby, West )Plains, MO; Floyd
Owenby,
Cramerton, NC; Dale Owenby, wife, Nancy, their three daughters,
Michelle,
Hannah and Holly, all of Harmony, NC, Wendell Owenby, Statesville, NC;
two
daughters Wanda Vanalstine, husband, Kevin, their daughter, Jessie; and
Rose
Marie Owenby, her daughter, Chrystal, all of Statesville, NC; three
sisters,
Mary Dockery, Young Harris, GA, Alice Conard, Gastonia, NC, and Norma
Dockery,
Blairsville, GA.
Those preceding Burl in death
include his parents; six brothers, Floyd, Clyde, Fain, Wayne, Wofford
and Jack
Owenby; two sisters, Ivy Owenby and Fanny Thomas; and a granddaughter,
Jessica
Owenby.
A private burial service is planned
with Pastor Frank Mulford of Central Calvary Baptist Church, West
Plains, MO,
officiating. The family asks that in
lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Gideon Bible Society and may
be left
at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at

Mr.
Robert Glen McArthur, age 88, of Stonehenge Assisted Living,
Blairsville passed
away Monday, June 4, 2012 at Stonehenge in Blairsville following an
extended
illness. He was born in Pleasant Hill, MO on April 8, 1924 son of the
late
Arthur M. and Malvina Jeffery McArthur. Mr. McArthur moved here in 2003
from
Wichita, KS. He was a member and retired Elder of First Presbyterian
Church in
Wichita, KS, and A.R.R.L. Mr. McArthur loved anything to do with
science and
was the honorary Resident Scientist at Stonehenge. He was preceded in
death by
his wife, Georgia McArthur in 2003.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sharon McArthur
of Young
Harris, brother, Harold Claude McArthur of Fairfield, CA,
step-grandsons
Holland and Kevin, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and
friends
also survive.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers make
memorials to First Presbyterian Church in Wichita, KS.

Mrs.
Virginia “Giny” Mae Prikryl age 90 of
Snowberry Lane, Blairsville passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2012 in
the
Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs.
Prikryl was
born on Nov. 2, 1921 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of the late John
Grab and
the late Thelma Fritch Grab. Giny had volunteered at the S.A.F.E.
Thrift Store
for over fifteen years. She enjoyed cross stitching, jigsaw puzzles,
reading,
decorating and she loved to dance. Giny was a loving mother,
grandmother and
great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles
Prikryl in
1997 and by a son, Douglas Prikryl in 2007. Giny was of the Methodist
faith.
Surviving
Giny are one son and daughter-in-law,
Thomas and Debbie Prikryl of Blairsville, one daughter and son-in-law,
Judy and
Jon Lester of Burton, OH, adopted children, Rick and Elaine Ryan of
Blairsville, daughter-in-law, Karen Prikryl of Largo, FL, four
grandchildren,
Tracy and Rex Plouck of Radnor, OH, Jeff and Amy Williams of Rome, OH,
Molly
Clemens of Delaware, OH, Kristina Prikryl of Largo, FL, one great
grandchild,
Felix Plouck, niece, Kathy Dietz of Ohio, many other relatives and
friends also
survive.
A
memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June
12, 2012 at 7 p.m. from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Ray
Potts
officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that
memorials
may be made to the S.A.F.E. Thrift Store in memory of Giny. The family
will
meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 until 7 p.m.
