Mr. John
H. Thomas, age 77, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, June 8,
1998 in
Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr. Thomas
was born in Towns County, Georgia, on Wednesday, November 17, 1920, a son of the late Ed Thomas and Fannie Cloer
Thomas. He was a US Navy Veteran of
World War II, and
had served in the 93rd Seabees. Mr.
Thomas was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of Zebulon
Baptist
Church, a member of Allegheny Masonic Lodge, #114, F&AM; and a
member of
the DAV, the American Legion, and the VFW.
He owned and operated City Barber Shop in Blairsville until his
retirement. Mr. Thomas was also a
retired Baptist minister.
Surviving
are his wife of 60 years, Lena Mae Thomas, of the home; daughter and
son in
law, Barbara and Randall Edwards of Alpharetta, GA; son and
daughter-in-law,
Byrdene and Bill Wilson of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law,
Robert and
Dorothy Thomas, of Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and
Kenneth
Dyer, of Blairsville; and daughter, Robin Thomas, of Alpharetta; 6
sisters:
Vina Cook, Thelma Coker, Paulina Collins, Irene Collins, Flora Collins,
and Mae
Penland, all of Blairsville; brother in law, Medison Penland, of
Blairsville;
brother, Nathan Thomas, of Alabama; 5 grandchildren: Matthew Dyer, of
Blairsville; Meredith Thomas, of Lilburn; Airman 2nd Class Thomas Scott
Edwards, of Okinawa, Japan; Allison Thomas, of Dawsonville; James
Andrew Thomas
II, of Lilburn; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, June 10, 1998 at 2 p.m. from Zebulon
Baptist
Church with reverend Hughes Chatham, and Reverend Guy Bradley
officiating. Special music was presented
by R. Terry
Hooper. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers: Andrew Thomas, Kenneth
Dyer, E.L. Cook, Matthew Dyer, Leon Davenport, and Rick Volker. Interment was in Union Memory Gardens
Cemetery, with military honors by North Georgia Honor Guard.

Mrs.
Bertha Eleanor Howe, age 87, of Blairsville, Georgia, passes away
Tuesday, June
9, 1998 in Blairsville.
Mrs. Howe
is survived locally by a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Lee, of Blairsville.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, June 13, 1998 in Morrison, Illinois with
Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in charge.
Interment was in Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.
Memorial
services will be held at a later date at Branan
Lodge in Blairsville.

Mrs.
Adron Nicholson Wood, 76, of 11715 Wolfpen Gap Rd., Suches, GA, died
Friday,
June 12, 1998 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville,
GA
following an extended illness. Mrs. Wood
was a native of Gordon County, GA who had live (sic) in Suches for the
past 35
years. She was a homemaker and a member
of Zion Baptist Church in Suches. She
was preceded in death by her Husband: Wayne M. Wood, her parents and
eleven
brothers and sisters. She is survived by
Sons and daughters in Laws: Jerry & Nancy Wood and Larry &
Diane Wood,
all of Suches, Grandchildren: Dewayne & Tina Wood, Devin & Kim
Wood,
Darren Wood, Connie Green, Carvel Wood and Casey Wood,
Great-grandchildren:
Kimber Wood, Brooklyn Wood, Morgan Wood, Logan Wood, Gunner Wood and
Easton
Wood. Several other relatives also
survive. Funeral services were held
Sunday, June 14 at Zion Baptist Church.
Rev. Paul Wright, Rev. Jimmy Tanner and Rev. Bruce Daniel
officiated. Interment followed in the
