Mr.
Charlie M. Plott, age 83, of Ivy Log Rd., Blairsville passed away on
Friday,
June 13, 2008 at his home following a brief illness.
Mr.
Plott was born on April 15, 1925 in Union County, the son of the late
Clemmon
Plott and the late Mary Thomas Plott. He
was a native and lifelong resident of Union
County. Charlie was a true Mountain man
who loved to hunt, fish and just being in the mountains.
He loved spending time with his family and
friends. He was preceded in death by
four brothers, Franklin Plott, Bill, Zack and N.V. Plott; two sisters,
Vera
Plott and Martha Schroeder. Mr. Plott
was a member of Trackrock Baptist Church.
Suring Mr.
Plott are his loving wife of thirty years, Virginia Arnold Plott of
Blairsville; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Teresa
Cannon of
Blairsville, Chad and Judy Plott of Blairsville, Harold Plott of NY;
two
sisters, Jesse Collins of Blairsville, Nancy Hamn of Port Orange, FL;
several
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other
relatives
and friends also survive.
A memorial
service will be held at a alter date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family
requests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Association
in memory
of Mr. Plott.

Mr. Benny
Frank Brown, age 58, of Bearmeat Spur,
Hiawassee formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2008
at his
home following an extended illness. Mr.
Brown was born on October 15, 1949 in Union County, the son of the late
William
Francis Brown and the late Virginia Mashburn Brown.
He was a lifelong resident of Union and Towns
Counties. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army of the Vietnam War. Benny loved to
play the guitar and sing country bluegrass and gospel songs and music. HE was preceded in death by his parents,
Francis and Virginia Brown; brother, Oble Brown; a twin brother, Glynny
Brown;
grandparents, tom and Cora brown, Will and Ollie Mashburn.
Mr. Brown attended N. Mt. Zion Church of God.
Surviving
Mr. Brown are two sons, Tony Brown of Hiawassee and “Little” Ben Brown
of
Hiawassee; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dot Garrett and Vassie
Garrett
both of Hiawassee, Shirley and Eugene Pope, Marie Burnette, Belvia Jean
and
Vernon Barnes all of Blairsville; two brothers and one sister-in-law,
Clinton
brown of Hiawassee, Zeno and Dessie Brown of Blairsville; several
nieces,
nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the
funeral home
chapel with Rev. Raburne Wilson and Rev. Eugene Freeman officiating. Special music was presented by Ryan Wilson. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Bryon Davis, Scott Garrett, Billy Burnette, Johnny Barnes,
Donald
Teague and Rick Davis. Serving as
honorary pallbearers were, Kenny Garrett, Eugene Pope, Greg Barnes and
Junior
Brown. Interment followed in the Shady
Grove Methodist Church Cemetery with the North Georgia Honor Guard
conducting
military honors.

Mrs. Mary
Ruth Rogers, age 88, of Blue
Ridge Hwy., Blairsville passed away o Friday, June 13, 2008 following a
brief
illness. Mrs. Rogers was born on August
11, 1919 in Fannin County, the daughter of the late William Elbert
Rogers and
the late Minnie Florence Cook Rogers.
Mary Ruth loved gardening and was especially proud of growing
flowers. She enjoyed cooking for her
family,
but most of all she enjoyed her church and the love for her Lord. She was a loving mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Herschel
Rogers; three
sisters, Edna Panter, Jewel Bragg and Thelma Rogers; two brothers, Lake
and
Wayne Rogers, also a son-in-law, Charles King.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of Confidence Methodist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Rogers are three
daughters and two sons-in-law, Frances king of Blairsville, Jerrie and
James
Crawford of Riverdale, GA, June and Robert Busbee of Blairsville; eight
grandchildren, Michael king, Michelle Seay, Cindy Pritchard, Anthony
Crawford,
Christy Wolcott, Chris Busbee, Beth Schakat and Jason Busbee; many
other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Sunday,
June 15, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John
Strickland and Rev. Bill Schakat.
Special music was presented by Kim Thomas. The
following gentlemen served as
pallbearers, Chris and Jason Busbee, Brandon King, Anthony Crawford,
Ricky
Seay, John Wilcott. Interment followed
in the Confidence Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Hattie Elizabeth Payne, age 79, of Gum Log Rd.,
Blairsville passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2008 in North East GA
Medical
Center following an brief illness. Mrs. Payne was born on October 10, 1928 in
Union County, the daughter of the late Luther Young and the late
Georgia Carney
Young. She retired from Georgia Boot
with over twenty-seven years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Payne; four
children,
Jackie, Jimmy, Jeanice and Susan Payne; three sisters, Fannie
Duckworth, Mary
Wright and Willie Murphy and one brother, Pat Young.
Mrs. Payne was a member of the Blairsville
Church of Christ.
Surviving
Mrs. Payne are six daughters and one son-in-law,
Kathryn Duckworth and Jodie Buchanan both of Blairsville, Edith Davis
of
marble, NC, Ida and Martin Davis of Clarksville, GA, Debbie Burger of
Chamblee,
GA, Becky Moore of Murphy; one brother and sister-in-law, Otis and
Sarah Lou
Young of Blairsville; sister-in-law, opal Young of Blairsville; six
grandchildren, Tabitha Payne, James Buchanan, Susan Davis, Lynn
Huckabey,
Marisa Crowley and Kymberlee Burger; eight great-grandchildren, Ashton
and
Morgan Davis, Jesse and Carla Payne, Kinsey Huckabey, Dawson and Dayton
Crowley
and Ayla Huckabey; many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 2
p.m. from the funeral home chapel with ministers, Terry Stuart and
Martin Davis
officiating. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers, Charles Payne, Scott Davis, Larry Young, Darren
Wyke,
James Murphy, Butch Dockery and Randy Huckabey. Serving
as
honorary pallbearers were Billy Duckworth and James Buchanan. Interment followed in the Liberty Baptist
Church Cemetery.

Mary Evelyn Knox,
age 66, of Kennesaw, GA, formerly of Blairsville, GA, passed away
Saturday,
June 14, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Knox was
born, Wednesday, April 1, 1942 in Cobb County, GA, to the late William
Joseph
Power and the late Nettie Jane Qualls Power.
She was a member of the sandy Springs United Methodist Church. She worked for many years as a nurse at Union
General Hospital in Blairsville and at Cobb Hospital in Austell. Mrs. Knox was preceded in death by her
husband, Daniel G. Knox; a sister, Dora Lee Brown and brother, Ray Von
Power.
Surviving family
members include: daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jerry Cobb of
Kennesaw;
daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ronnie Duncan of Blairsville; son,
Danny
Knox of Blairsville; sister, Samantha Burnette of Flowery Branch, GA;
brother,
William “Buddy” Power of Clermont, GA; sister, Marie Stewart of Winder,
GA;
brother, George Power of Dawsonville, GA; brother, David Power of
Cumming, GA;
grandchildren, Courtney, Victoria and Daniel Cobb; Nicole Knox Henson
and
Dakota Knox and great grandchild, Karen Henson.
Funeral services
were held Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the
Cochran
Funeral Home with the Rev. Freddie Knox officiating.
Music was provided by Justin and Jason power
and Stacy Power Truitt. Interment
followed in the Holly Hill Cemetery in Blairsville.
Serving as pallbearers are Mrs. Knox’s
nephews. The family received friends at
the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 17.
