arthur lee keller

 

Mr. Arthur Lee Keller, age 73, of Ashley Circle Blairsville passed away on June 12, 2006 in the Union general hospital following an extended illness.  Mr. Keller was born on September 1, 1932 in Bradenton, FL.  He is the son of the late Arthur Keller and the late Elta Williams Keller.  He attended school in Bradenton and graduated in 1950.  He worked at a Belks Store after graduation.  He was drafted into the US Army and spent two years in S. Carolina and Ft. Benning, GA.  Mr. Keller was a purchase agent most of his life and performed that job for the Sarasota-Manatee Co. Airport for five years before becoming the manager of the Kiwanis owned Bradenton trailer park and Aud & Hall.  His main love in his life is his family, his home, and football in that order.  He loved to work in his yard and around his home and spent a lot of time camping and other outdoor activities, like Bill Gaither Gospel music and watching TV.,  He has had the opportunity to live a short distance from his daughter and family and became “grandpa/mom” for the grandchildren after school while mom worked.  He enjoyed seeing them become adults.  He loved the Georgia Mountains where he camped several summers until he moved here in 1950.  He enjoyed several good years of doing what he wanted and when.

Surviving Mr. Keller are his loving wife of fifty years, Toni Keller of Blairsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and A.W. Pyles of Blairsville; two grandchildren, Melissa and Christopher Sneider of Blairsville; one sister, Elaine Parker McBryar of Tampa, FL; nephews, Matthew Parker, Brian and Kristie Parker; lifelong friends, Stanley and Sally Kneeshaw of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

No services are planned at this time.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Gideon’s in Mr. Keller’s memory.

Donald Peter Neview

 

Mr. Donald Peter Neview, age 82, of Dogwood Drive Blairsville, formerly of Bay City, MI, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mr. Neview was born on November 26, 1923 in Bay City, MI. The son of the late Frank Neview and the late Lena Demias Neview.  He retired from the Cosumer Power Company in 1980.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bay City.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Alice Neview, a son Donny Neview, brothers, Fred, Frank, Hial, and Wendall Neview, sisters, Myrtle Kraxner and Beatrice Morgan, and a son-in-law, Keith Paul.  Mr. Neview was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving Mr. Neview are his loving wife of twenty tow years, Margaret “Peggy” Blocker Neview; three daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Tim Morgan of Bay City, MI, Mary and John Warren of Alburn, MI, Cathy and Gary Fedewa of MI; step-children, Stephen and Nancy Blocker of Seaford, DE, Eugenia and Norris Givins of Bridgeville, DE, Charles and Donna Blocker of Blairsville, Craig and Linda Blocker of laurel, DE; one brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Lena Neview of Essexville, MI; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Esther Burke of Bay City, Phyllis and Ron Kuehnemund, Madeline and Wilbert Klopf all of Bay City; six grandchildren, Becky Schuman, Scott and Tony Raymaker, Michelle and Dan Warren and John Rader, six step-grandchildren: numerous great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in Mr. Neview’s memory.

mary augusta gazaway

 

Mrs. Mary Augusta Gazaway, age 82, of Gazaway Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2006 in the Gold City Nursing Home in Dahlonega following an extended illness.  Mrs. Gazaway was born on March 13, 1924 in Union County.  The daughter of the late Marion Edward Self and the late Ollie L. Nix Self.  She retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation after over thirty years of service.  She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Gazaway in 2003 and a brother, Albert Self in 2006.  Mrs. Gazaway was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Gazaway are one daughter and son-in-law, Glynda and Matthew Munro of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister and brother-in-law, Valene and Edward Dyer of Dallas, GA; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Dean Self of Blairsville, Lawrence and Ethel Self of Columbia, SC, Glenn and Geneva Self of Gainesville, GA; four grandchildren, Leslie Jameson, Nicole Childress, Kevin and Jason Gazaway; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Jameson, Shelby Childress; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Tanner officiating.  Family members served as pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery.

jessie irene brickey

 

Mrs. Jessie Irene Brickey, age 86, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of the Brasstown-Peachtree, NC area, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Union County Nursing Home.  Mrs. Brickey was born Tuesday, May 4, 1920 in Oconee County, GA, to the late Rufus Pipes and the late Jessie Davis Pipes.  Mrs. Brickey had lived in Blairsville since 1978, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Charles Brickey, in 2003.

Survivors include: son, Charles A. Brickey of Blairsville; daughter, Annette Shuman of Sumter, SC; daughter, Loretta Christine Stiles of Morristown, TN; son, George D. Brickey of Dalton, Georgia; son, Phillip F. Brickey of Andrews, NC; sister, Esther Bender of Winston-Salem, NC; sister, Grace Colyard of Lenoir, NC; brother, Virgil Pipes of Amarillo, TX; brother, Dr. Roy Pipes of Peachtree, NC; sister, Ruth Pipes of Winston-Salem, NC, 13 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville with the Rev. Danny Parris, Rev. B.A. Buchanan, and Dr. Fred Lodge officiating.  Special music was presented by Minister of Music R. Terry Hooper.  The following gentlemen were selected to serve as pallbearers: Harold Dyer, Charles Brickey, George Brickey, Roy Pipes, Bob Shuman, and Phillip Brickey.  Interment followed in Green-lawn Cemetery, in Peachtree, NC.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Friday, June 16.
