Mr.
Norman L. McCollumn, age 88, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away,
Thursday,
June 17, 1999 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr.
McCollumn was born in Union County, Georgia, on Wednesday, November 2,
1910, a
son of the late Gordon McCollumn and Lou Shope McCollumn.
He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of
this area. Mr. McCollumn was a member of
New Harmony Baptist Church, and had served his church as a deacon for
42 years.
Surviving
are his wife, Bonnie Jordan McCollumn, of Blairsville; son, Otis
McCollumn, of
Blairsville; son and daughter in law, Clinton and Elaine McCollumn, of
Gainesville; daughter and son in law, Ann and Bud Akins, of
Blairsville;
daughter and son in law, Charlene and Johnny Hamby, of Blairsville;
son, Jimmy
McCollumn, of Blairsville; daughter and son in law, Cathy and Wayne
Newton, of
Moultrie, GA; and son and daughter in law, Billy and Lena McCollumn, of
Blairsville; brother, Dave McCollumn, of Blairsville, 13 grandchildren,
7 great
grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. many other relatives and
friends
also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, June 19, 1999 at 2 p.m. from New Harmony
Baptist
Church, with Rev. Kenny Beaver and Rev. Harley Hunter officiating. Special music was presented by the Benny
Shook Family. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers: William Akins, Jr., Tyler McCollumn, Jason
McCollumn,
Riley Stephens, Tony Harkins and Johnny Hamby.
Interment was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr.
Johnny J. Cantrell, age 82, of Old Blueridge Highway, Blairsville,
passed away,
Friday, June 11, 1999 in Union General Hospital following an extended
illness.
Mr.
Cantrell was born on may 17, 1917 in Monroe County Tennessee, but had
lived
most of his life in Blairsville. He was
the son of the late “Mid” and Viney Denny Cantrell.
Mr. Cantrell was a welder and has operated a
radiator repair shop for the past thirty years.
He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and also a
member
of the Allegheny Lode #114 F&AM.
Surviving
are his wife, Jessie Mae Ingram Cantrell of Blairsville; daughters and
son in
law: Margie and William Totherow of Blairsville, and Brenda and Clinton
Patterson also of Blairsville; brothers, Lank Cantrell of Ball Ground,
Dave and
Pryor Cantrell both of Blairsville; three grandchildren, Gail Souther,
Jamey
and Robby Patterson, one great grandchild, Kelsey Patterson; several
nieces and
nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, June 13, 1999 at 2:30 p.m. from the Pleasant
Grove
Baptist Church with the Rev Brent Chatham and the Rev. Joe Dan Wilkson
officiating. Special music was presented
by Homer and
Vondell Powell, Charles and Rachel Brackett, Russell and Patricia
Craver. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Mike Souther, Jamey and Robby Patterson, Jody Cantrell,
Dennis
Stogsdill, and Royce Brown. Interment was
in the Church Cemetery.

Mr.
Ricky Roger Dyer, age 37, of Clermont, Georgia, formerly of
Blairsville,
Georgia passed away Saturday, June 19, 1999 at the Northeast Georgia
Medical
Center, following a sudden illness.
He was
preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Rev. Walker and Grace
Rogers,
and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Stella Dyer.
He is
survived by his wife, Charlotte Dyer, of Clermont,
Georgia; grandfather, Roy A. Dyer of Blairsville; his father, Bobby Ray
Dyer,
of Blairsville, his mother Bobbie Jo Dyer, of Fannin County, Georgia, a
sister
and brother in law, Frances and Don Carpenter, one nephew and one
niece,
William and Alisha Carpenter, all of Blairsville along with several
other relatives
and friends.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at 2 p.m. from the Solid Rock
Baptist
Church in Clermont, Georgia, with interment in Wahoo Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mrs.
Etta Parham, age 93, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, June
15,
1999 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs. Parham was born in Graham County, North Carolina, on
Thursday, May
3, 1906, a daughter of the late John Styles and Amanda Denton Styles. She was a homemaker and had lived in
Blairsville for most of her life. She
was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Parham had been preceded in death by her husband, Herschel
Parham,
in 1963.
Surviving are
her son and daughter in law, George B. and Susie Parham, of Athens;
daughter,
Bernice Gibby, also of Athens; daughter, hazel Doolittle; son, Harold
Parham;
son and daughter in law, Herbert and Betty Parham; daughter and son in
law,
Evelyn and Audrey Deyton, all of Blairsville, 13 grandchildren and 3
great
great grandchildren also survive.

services were held Thursday, June 17, 1999 at 4 p.m. from Pleasant
Grove
Baptist Church, with Rev. Brent Chatham officiating.

Mrs.
Euna Lance Horne, age 82, passed away Sunday, June 13, 1999 at St.
Joseph’s
Hospital in Atlanta.
Surviving are
her sister, Susie L. Brown, of Blairsville, Georgia.
Born in
Union County, Georgia, on August 24, 1916, she was the daughter of the
late
Juan B. Lance and Kate Ledford Lance.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rufus William “Bill”
Horne. She was a retired licensed
practical nurse.

Mrs.
Daisy Marie Ward Thompson, age 78, of Blarisville, Georgia, passed away
Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in Lanier Park Hospital in Gainesville, Georgia.
Mrs.
Thompson was born in Geneva, Alabama, on Friday, November 26, 1920, a
daughter
of the late William Jefferson Ward and Savannah Harrison Ward. She was a homemaker and had lived in
Blairsville since 1997, coming here from Lakeland, Florida.
Surviving
are her son, Jack Thompson of Blairsville, one grandchild, and 5 great
grandchildren.
