john weston fullerton

 

Mr. John Weston Fullerton, age 63, of Blairsville formerly of Plymouth, MA, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2007 following a brief illness.  Mr. Fullerton was born on February 14, 1944 in Brockton, MA, the son of the late Warren E. Fullerton and the late Mabel L. Milan Fullerton.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He was preceded in death by a son, John W. Fullerton in 1997 and by a sister, Nan Fullerton.  He was an avid hunter and loved animals.  John has now found the peace which he was always looking for.  Mr. was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Plymouth, MA.

Surviving Mr. Fullerton are one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Donald Paschal of Carver, MA; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Jo-Ann and Richard Jensen of Buzzards Bay, MA, Marcia and Joseph Scribner of Hanover, MA, Suzanne and George Hopp of Dellwood, PA; six brothers and five sisters-in-law, Jere and Joan Fullerton of Sandwich, MA, Warren E. III and Cori Fullerton of Howland, ME, Stephen Fullerton of Falmouth, MA, Peter and Patti Fullerton of Weymouth, MA, David and Eileen Fullerton of s. Wayne, MA, Michael and Sandra Fullerton of Hanover, MA.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Foundation for Fighting Blindness in Mr. Fullerton’s memory.

irene h. kelley

 

Mrs. Irene H. Kelley, age 93, native of Blairsville, GA, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.  Mrs. Kelley was born Sunday, December 28, 1913 in Union County, GA, to the late Frank Hughes and the late Ada Ensley Hughes.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County and was preceded in death by husband, Robert “Bob” Kelley; grandfather, Rev, Thomas Coke Hughes; five daughters, one son and one brother.

Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Maxine and Jack Drake of Blairsville; son & daughter-in-law, James and Mary Ann Kelley of Acworth; son & daughter-in-law, jack and Betty Kelley of Blairsville; daughter & son-in-law, Martha and James Melton of Hiawassee, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Joyce and Ron Byers of Blairsville; son & daughter-in-law, Bill and Deborah Kelley of Blairsville; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and six  great-great-grandchildren also survive, along with many friends and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Passmore and Rev. Charles Black officiating. Music was provided by Danita Kennedy.  Interment followed in Blairsville City Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were the following gentlemen: Phil Kelley, Justin Byers, Jim Melton, Brock Kelley, Chase Kelley and Robby Kelley.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday evening, June 20th.

norman edward kirsch

 

Mr. Norman Edward Kirsch, age 91, of Alexander Drive, Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 in the Clay County Care Center following an extended illness.  Mr. Kirsch was born on September 19, 1915 in Campbell Hill, IL, the son of the late Edward H. Kirsch and the late Rosa Vogt Kirsch.  He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines.  He was President of Rainbow Prison Ministry for over twenty-two years.  Mr. Kirsch was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church.

Surviving Mr. Kirsch are his loving wife, Myra Flemming Kirsch of Blairsville; one son, Marvin Kirsch of Blairsville; nieces and nephews, Barbara and Bill Holly of Murraysville, PA, Loraine and Barry Conrad of York, PA; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 1 p.m. from the Holly Hill Cemetery with Dr. Phillip Meeks officiating.  IN lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Rainbow Prison Ministries in Mr. Kirsch’s memory.

sheryl lynne smith kapua

 

Mrs. Sheryl Lynne Smith Kapua, age 69 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday, June 22, 2007 at Union General Hospital.  Mrs. Kapua was born Tuesday, February 22, 1938 in Allegheny County, PA to the late Fred Duerr and Marie Aretz Duerr of Melrose, FL.  She had lived most of her life in lake Worth, FL, before moving to Blairsville in 1990 and was a member of Blairsville Church of Christ.

Survivors, beside her mother, include: husband, Cleto Kapua of Blairsville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Kellie & Ned O’Brien of Duluth, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Kay & Harold Savage of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Kerry & Rolando Paguaga of Stuart, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle & Teri Smith of Royal Palm Beach, FL; son and daughter-in-law Kirk & Kris Smith of Orlando, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Chad Lariscy of Blairsville, GA; sisters, Joan Humphrey of Micco, FL, Bonnye Cox of Melrose, FL and Connye Plouffe of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; 11 grandchildren, Maren, Larry, Ryan, Michelle, Reagan, Carson, Madison, Morgan, Cameron, Bryson and Mallory.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 5 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Harold Savage officiating.  Interment was in Union memory Gardens.  Serving as pallbearers were: Kyle Smith, Kirk Smith, Ned O’Brien, Larry Savage, Rolando Paguaga, Harold Savage, Chad Lariscy and Ryan Paguaga.  In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations may be made to Regency Hospice, PO Box 494, Hiawassee, GA 30546.

john h. shaffer, sr.

 

Mr. John H. Shaffer, Sr., age 62 of Blairsville, GA, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 23, 2007.  Mr. Shaffer, was born Sunday, January 28, 1945 in Alleghany County, MD to the late Harold T. Shaffer and the late Bonita Metz Shaffer.  He was a member of Blairsville Church of God.  He had an anointed musical gift and was a pianist for every church that he attended since he was 14 years old.  He was office manager for the Radiology Department in Doctors Hospital in lake Worth, FL prior to becoming disabled with multiple illnesses.  He had lived most of his adult life in West Palm Beach, FL, during which he was a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church in lake Worth, FL, before moving to the mountains of Blairsville, which he loved.

Survivors include: wife, Patricia Shaffer of Blairsville, GA; son & daughter-in-law, John and Judy Shaffer, Jr. of Cumberland, MD; son & daughter-in-law, Robert and Kim Shaffer of Cumberland, MD; daughter, Sarah Beth Shaffer of Blairsville, GA; brother, William F. Metz of College Park, MD; brother, Rev. Harold T. Shaffer of Ridgeley, WV; sister, Charlotte J. Santmyire of LaVale, MD; sister, Diane Shaffer of Blairsville, GA; brother, Gregory J. Shaffer of Gerardstown, WV; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Richard and Mary Jane Paollilo of Blairsville, GA.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Blairsville Church of God with Pastor John Davis and Pastor Ronald Broadhead officiating.  Music was provided by Pastor John Davis.  Interment will be in Union memory Gardens.  Serving as pallbearers were: Diane Shaffer, Keith Walker, Harold Shaffer, Jr., William Metz, Greg Shaffer and Larry Stover.

floy lousie bradley

 

Mrs. Floy Lousie Bradley, age 96, of Pine Ridge Acres, Blairsville, formerly of Atlanta, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2007 in the Fannin Regional Hospital following a brief illness.  Mrs. Bradley was born on January 26, 1912 in Folkston, GA, the daughter of the late H.W. Anderson and the late Bessie Leigh Gibson Anderson.  She was preceded in death by her husband, E.T. Bradley, Sr. and by her first husband, Allen Mobley.  Mrs. Bradley was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church of Atlanta.

Surviving Mrs. Bradley are one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Harry Howard of Blairsville; one brother and sister-in-law, Granvelee and Geraldine Anderson of Green Cove Springs, FL; two grandchildren, Richard Allen Howard of Powder Springs, GA, Terry Lynn and husband Douglas Hagen of Taylors, SC; one great-grandchild, Bradley Hagen; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

No services are planned at this time.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Bradley’s memory.
