Mr.
Jerrold
Jason Jenkins, age 57, of Mary’s Way, Blairsville, passed away
peacefully on
Saturday June 28, 2008 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Jenkins was born on Dec. 21, 1950, in
Chicago, IL, the son of the late William Edward Jenkins
and
the late Florence Marie Jason Jenkins.
He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War.
He owned and operated Jerry’s Handyman
Service. He loved NFL football. Jerrold was kind hearted and his door was
always open to anyone in need. Mr.
Jenkins was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St.
Francis of
Assisi Catholic Church.
Surviving
Mr. Jenkins are his children, Christopher Rozell of FL, Linda Marie
Jenkins of
FL, earl Lee Jenkins of Alaska, Tabitha Ann Jenkins of FL, Jennifer
Newell of
NY< Christopher John Jenkins of Alaska, two sisters and one
brother-in-law,
Mary Jenkins of Blairsville, Linda and Patrick Swayne of Lawrenceville,
several
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral
services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 10 a.m. from St.
Francis of
Assisi Catholic Church with Father Richard Wise officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as
pallbearers, Pat Swayne, Jonathan Jenkins, Brian Morrell, Stephen
Smith, George
Holland and O.J. Reiss. Interment will
follow in St. Clare’s Columbarium.
Military honors will be conducted by the North GA Honor Guard.

Mr. John
“Jack” Wargo, Jr., age 76, of Wargo Drive, Blairsville, passed away on
Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in the Garden View Hospital in Gulfport, MS.,
following
a sudden illness. Mr. Wargo was born on
Oct. 14, 1931 in McKeesport, PA, of the late John V. Wargo, Sr. and the
late
Alma Schimpf Wargo. He was a veteran of
the US Army of the Korean War. He
retired from Gulliver Academy in Coral Gables, FL, with over twenty
five years
of service. Jack was a member of the
Knights of Columbus and ICL at Young Harris College.
Mr. Wargo was a member of St. Francis of
Assisi Catholic Church.
Surviving
Mr. Wargo are his loving wife, Lillie Uhl Wargo, of Blairsville, three
sons and
one daughter-in-law, Vincent Wargo of Blairsville, Tom Wargo of Miami,
Paul and
Angela Wargo, of Niceville, FL, one daughter and son in law, Beth and
Richard
Wright of Denver, CO, one brother and sister in law, Frank and Barbara
Wargo of
Melbourne, FL, four grandchildren, John and Jacob Wargo, Robert and
Maggie
Wright, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
service was held on Saturday June 28, 2008 at 10 a.m. from St. Francis
of
Assisi Catholic Church with Monsignor James Young officiating. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family
requests that memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital,
501 St.
Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1942, in memory of Mr. Wargo. The family met with friends following the
services at the church.

Mr. Randy
William Ratliff Jr., age 41, of Brookhaven Drive, Blairsville passed
away on
Sunday June 22, 2008 from a drowning accident.
Mr. Ratliff was born on April 25, 1967in Hardinsburg, KY, the
son of
Randy William Ratliff, Sr. and Lois Arlene Triplett Ratliff. Randy loved being outdoors
and enjoyed being with his family.
He was a loving husband, father, son and brother and will be
greatly
missed by all. Mr. Ratliff was of the
Catholic faith.
Surviving
Randy are his wife, Dawn Phillips Ratliff, of KY, two children, Amanda
Ratliff
of Brasstown, NC, Kaylee Ratliff of KY, parents Randy and Lois Ratliff
of
Blairsville, three sisters and two brothers in law, Darlene and Tony
Masterson
of Irvington, KY, Ginny and Jeff Dowell of Brandenburg, KY, Rhonda
Ratliff of
Atlanta, two brothers, Paul Ratliff of Atlanta, Shawn Ratliff of
Blairsville,
and many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
service was held on Wednesday June 25, 2008 at 4 p.m. form the Mountain
View
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating.

Mr.
Charles
Henry Michael III, age 64, of Old Embers Rd., Blairsville, passed away
on
Wednesday June 25, 2008 in St. Josephs Hospital following an extended
illness. Mr. Michael was born on Dec. 1,
1943 in
Tularosa, NM, the son of the late Charles Henry Michael, Jr. and the
late
Evelyn brasher Michael. Charles retired
from the Pinellas Par Fire Department after thirty two years of service. He was a member of the Elks Club, the
I.A.F.F. Union and the Firefighters Breakfast Club.
He loved the outdoors, playing golf, building
things and jewelry making. He especially
loved his grandchildren and Christmas.
Charles was preceded in death by tow brothers John and Ed
Michael. Rm. Michael was of the Baptist
faith.
Surviving
Mr. Michael are his loving wife, Barbara Felzer Michael of Blairsville,
six
children, Charles Henry Michael IV and Sharon of Clearwater, FL, mark
and Terri
Michael of Pinellas Park, FL, Lance and Alicia Michael of Clearwater,
FL, John
and Susie Haffner of Daytona beach, FL, Jacki and Doug Twitty of Tampa,
FL,
Gina Scarpetta of largo, FL, one sister, Michelle Dehart of Sarasota,
FL, two
sisters in law, Carol Michael of Newport Ritchie, FL, Donna Winkler of
Blairsville,
several cousins, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also
survive.

Mrs.
Shirley Gay Lyle, age 85, of Wesley Mtn. Drive, Blairsville, passed
away on
Monday June 23, 2008 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following a
brief
illness. Mrs. Lyle was born on Feb. 1,
1923 in Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of the late Edward Winter Gay and
the late
Anna Alice Elsing Gay. Shirley loved
animals. She was a very creative person
and enjoyed painting, making jewelry, and candle making.
Late in life, she started a massage therapy
practice and was in business for over thirty years.
Shirley had a joy for living. Mrs.
Lyle was a member of the Unity Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Lyle are one daughter and son in law, Lisa and Bradley Waggoner of
Murphy,
NC, a niece, Bobbie Sue Bagnell of Garden City, KS, a host of friends
at Branan
Lodge, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Services will
be held at the home of Lisa and Brad Waggoner on Saturday, July 26 at 4
p.m. IN lieu of flowers, if you wish,

stephen “steve” bertsel earnst
Stephen
“Steve” Bertsel Earnst, age 58, of Suches, GA, died
Monday, Junes 23, 2008 at his resident.
Steve
was born in Fulton County, GA, had lived in Atlanta for several years
and in
Florida for 20 years, before moving to Suches 10 years ago. He was an Air Force veteran.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, Bertsel and Alberta Bridges
Earnst. He is survived by his brother and
sister-in-law, Doug and Frankie Earnst of Charleston, SC, nephews Brad
and
Daniel Earnst, and a special friend, Joel Gooch.
Graveside
services for Mr. Earnst were held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 27 at Sugar
Hill
Baptist Church Cemetery in Suches.

Mr. John
Ralph Ericson age 42, of Blairsville, formerly of Lakeland, FL, passed
away on
Friday, June 27, 2007 from injuries received from a motorcycle accident. Mr. Ericson was born on Nov. 24, 1965 in
Hartford, CT, the son of Ralph Ericson and Eleanor Capetta Ericson. John was an outdoorsman and loved riding
motorcycles. He also was a self-taught
guitarist. Mr. Ericson was of the
Catholic faith.
Surviving
Mr. Ericson are his parents, Ralph and Eleanor
Ericson of Lakeland, FL, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Eddy and
Chris
Ericson of Irwin, PA, Jim and Ruth Ericson of Lakeland, FL, one sister
and
brother-in-law, Susan and Gary DaBelko of palm Coast, FL, uncle, John
Captetto
of Hartford, CT, aunt, Rose Faiola of Lakeland, close friends and
extended
family, Steven, Sue Ellen, Kyle and Madison Morlock of Blairsville,

nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr.
Michael
Christopher West, age 42 of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away suddenly
on
Thursday, June 26, 2008. Mr. West was
born Friday, July 9, 1965 in Fulton County, Georgia, to Robert M. West
and
Linda Gunter West. Mr. West was a veteran
of the U.S. Army, and had lived in Blairsville since 2003, moving here
from
Conyers, Georgia. He was of the
Presbyterian faith. Coach West was a
teacher at Union County High School, and Union County High School coach
for
Girls Basketball and the Head Coach of Union County High School Boys
Soccer.
Surviving
family members include: wife, Jeanna West and sons, Christopher Andrew
West and
Michael Clayton West of Blairsville; father, Robert M. West of West
Palm beach,
Florida; mother and step-father, Linda and Wayne Angel of Decatur,
Georgia;
sister, Wendy Smith of Gainesville, Georgia; brother, Andrew L. West of
Cumming, Georgia; sister, Jenny-Lind Angel of Decatur; paternal
grandmother,
Elizabeth Hicks West of Westminster, Colorado and mother-0in-Law,
Leonila
Chavez of Blairsville. Many other
relatives and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, June 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the First
Baptist
Church Of Blairsville with the Rev. Bob
Crowe and
Minister Terry Stuart officiating. Music
was provided by Mrs. Elizabeth Plott.
Serving as pallbearers were the following gentlemen: Dave Smith,
Andrew
L. West, Earl Sullivan, Chris Dyer, Rick Thomas and Kyle Thomas. Honorary escort to the family included
members of the Union County High School Girls’ Basketball Team, Boys
Soccer
Team and former Newton County Girls Basketball Team members. Burial was in Harmony Grove Baptist Church
Cemetery. Military honors were presented
by North Georgia Honor Guard.
The family
received friends at the funeral home from 5-11, Sunday, June 29.
The family
requests that memorial contributions may be made to a fund established
at
United Community Bank for the benefit of Coach West’s children.

Mrs.
Betty Borman, age 87, of Blairsville, Georgia, formerly of
Jacksonville,
Florida, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008 in Union County Nursing
Home in
Blairsville. Mrs. Borman was born
Tuesday, may 3, 1921, in Emanuel County, Georgia, a daughter of the
late John
Robert Wallace and Vannie Mae Akeridge Wallace.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Borman. Mrs. Borman had been living in Blairsville
for the past 3 months, moving here from Jacksonville.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal
Church in Jacksonville, where she had been active in the women’s
organizations
within the church.
Surviving
family members include daughter, Gloria Grimmer, of Huntington Beach,
California;
daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and James Blitchington, of
Blairsville; and
grandchildren: Carol Haymond, Tina Tobon, Cindy Davis, and Karen
Baudet; great
grandchildren: Tyler Davis, and Evan and Emily Haymond.
Funeral
services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the
Coosa
United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Steve Midkiff officiating. The following gentlemen have been selected to

Mrs.
Inda Helton Evans, age 81, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Thursday,
June 19,
2008 at Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville. Mrs.
Evans was born Thursday, October 21,
1926 in White County, GA to the late Jake Helton and the late Alice
Seabolt
Helton. Mrs. Evans was a lifelong
resident of this area. She was a member
of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was preceded in death by brothers:
Gus,
Wiley, Newman, Harley and Herschel Helton; and a sister, Lavada Helton.
Survivors
include her husband, Richard Evans of Blairsville; son, J.W. Jones; son
&
daughter-in-law, Paul and Kay Jones; daughter & son-in-law, Carol
and
Harold King; sister, Lillie Warren, all of Blairsville; brother, Roy
Helton of
Cleveland, GA; grandchildren: Stacy Jones, Gina Jones and Dallas Jones;
great
grandchildren, Tyler Crockett, Matthew Jones and Emily Jones.

services were held Sunday, June 22, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of
Cochran
Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Garrett and Rev. Ray Potts officiating. Music was provided by Ruth Bramlett. Interment followed in Mr.
Pleasant Baptist
