mrs. lorena vivian stottlemire


Mrs. Lorena Vivian Stottlemire, age 70, of Meeks Lane, Blairsville, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. Stottlemire was born on July 16, 1934 in Tabor City, NC.  The daughter of the late Liston V. Merritt Sr. and the late Docia Powell Merritt.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Coy Cartrette.  Mrs. Stottlemire was of the Baptist faith

Surviving Mrs. Stottlemire are two sisters and brother-in-laws, Ella (Peggy) and Harold Meeks of Blairsville, Patsy and Paul Mobley of Orlando, FL; four nephews: David Miller of Apopka, FL, Duane Merritt of Norwalk, CT, David Meeks of Inverness, FL, Shawn Meeks of Floral City, FL; four nieces: Vickie Martinez of Ocoee, FL, Beverly Merritt of Kissimmee, FL, Billie Jo McClusky of Abington, VA, Patricia Perryman of St. Augustine, FL, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Sunday July 3, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Inman Funeral Jome chapel in Tabor City, NC.  With the Rev. Ray Williams officiating.  Special music will be presented by Darlene Williams.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers:  David Miller, Duane Merritt, David Meeks and Shawn Meeks.  Interment will follow in the Powell cemetery.

mr. c.j. thomas


Mr. C.J. Thomas, age 70 of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Home.

Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parent, Dennis and Laura Tilson Thomas, wife, Vern Thomas, daughter, Shirley Sue Thomas, Brother, Junior Thomas, sisters, Stella Mae Kincaid, Janie Dell Allen, and Cora Bell Thomas, and great grandson, Benjamin Postell.

Survivors include: daughters, Sandy Postell of Mineral Bluff, GA, Linda Bilyew of Las Vegas, NV, Cathy Thomas of Morganton, GA; son, Tim Thomas of Gainesville, GA; brother, William Thomas; sisters, Louise Allen, Hattie Gazaway, Penny Presley, Rose Allen, and Vonnie York; grandchildren, Jennifer Loeffler, Stacy Presswood, Chris Postell, Laura Sheriff, and Julie Nix; great grandchildren, Samuel Postell, Avery Sheriff, Carter Sheriff, Cameron Postell, and Bridgett Dotson,  Nieces and nephews also survive.

A Sunset Service was held Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 7 p.m. from the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel.  Nephews will be serving as pallbearers.  A graveside service followed in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
