evelyn auberry hatchett

 

Mrs. Evelyn Auberry Hatchett, age 80, of Bellview Church Lane, Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.  Mrs. Hatchett was born on Dec. 7, 1923 in Clay County NC, the daughter of the late Homer Seth Auberry and the late Zora Alethia Brendle.  She was preceeded in death by her husband, Leonidas M. (Eskimo) Hatchett, brothers, Charles, Johnny, Frank, and Olen Auberry, sister, Thelma Martin and by a daughter, Gail Luaine Hatchett.  Mrs. Hatchett attended the Bell View Methodist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Hatchett are one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Joy Hatchett of Blairsville, one sister, Grace Mease, one brother, Roy Auberry both of Hayesville, three grandchildren, Rachel Hatchett LeJune, Christy Hatchett and Sari Hatchett, five great grandchildren, Frank Thomas Hatchett LeJune, Jayden Seth Hatchett LeJune, Indigo Alethia Hull Hatchett, Peyton Hatchett Carnes and Courage Auberry Hull hatchet, many other relatives and friends survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Pat Miller officiating.  Special music was presented by Evan Hughes and Sandye Grindle.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:

, Robert Hatchett, Larry Mease, Raymond Mease, Kevin Garrett, Danny Lee, and John Lee.  Interment followed in the Bell View Methodist Church Cemetery.

Alean Young Teague

 

Mrs. Alean Young Teague, age 94, of Blairsville, GA., passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2004 in Union General Hospital.

Mrs. Teague was born in Cherokee County, N.C., on December 11, 1909, a daughter of the late Henry and Merica Elizabeth (Mason) Young, but had lived in Union County most of her life.  She was of the Methodist faith.  Mrs. Teague was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Teague; daughter, Thelma Truitt; son, Harold Teague; three brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Judy Teague of Dallas, GA., Bob and Mary Teague of Marietta, GA., and Herbert and Joyce Teague of Blairsville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Bill Lee of Snellville, GA; sister, Grace Christopher of Gastonia, N.C; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 1, 2004 at the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Jones and Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating. Music was  by the New Life Singers and the Frank Dockery family.  Pallbearers were mike Teague, Doug Patterson, Scott Truitt, Steve Truitt, Chad Teague, Joe Teague, Cade Patterson and Randy Teague.  Interment was in Shady Grove Methodist Cemetery.

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge  of arrangements.

mrs. ethel ernestine roberts

 

Mrs. Ethel Ernestine (better known as Ernie) Roberts, age 63, of Mulky Gap Road in Blairsville, GA., formerly of Andrews, N.C., passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at her home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Roberts was born on April 9, 1941 in Cherokee, N.C., the daughter of the late Dewey Ammons and the late Ann Reed Ammons.  She had been employed as a telephone operator with Southern Bell for several years and before she became sick, was employed with Sav-A-Lot grocery store.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Kelly in 1999.

Surviving Mrs. Roberts are three sons, Johnny Lee Roberts of Charlotte, NC., James Dewey Roberts of Black Mtn, NC; three daughters and sons-in-law, Addie Marie and Jeff Brooks, of Hayesville, N.C., Eleftheri (Hone) Roberts of Marble, N.C., Dorothea (Dottie) and Larry Lunsford of Blairsville, GA; one sister, Mona Ammons of Black Mtn, N.C.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 5, 2004 from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Foster officiating.  Special music was presented by Shirley Grizzle and Jermiah Long.  The following gentlemen served as Pallbearers, Rufus Everett, Richard Crowell, Randy Grizzle, Greg Owenby, Michael Owenby and David Owenby.  Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Kevin Lunford and Gene Sprayberry.  Interment followed in the Coosa Methodist Church Cemetery.

mrs. inez davenport forrester

 

Mrs. Inez Davenport Forrester, age 92, of the Union County Nursing Home, formerly of Fannin County died Sunday morning, June 27, 2004, at the nursing home.

Mrs. Forrester was the daughter of the late William Prescott and Elizabeth Lorraine Van Zandt Davenport born Tuesday, July 4, 1911.  She was a member of the Dial Church of Christ.  She loved gardening and quilting.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman Forrester.

Survivors include son, Huey Forrester of the Dial Community of Fannin County; daughters, Jenny Lynn Thomas of Symrna, Georgia, and Melany Lunsford of Blairsville, Georgia; brother, Dr. Dennis D. Davenport of Longview, Washington; sister, Dell Beaver of Ellijay, Georgia; grandchildren, Tony Thomas, Valerie Latta, Kim Anderson, and Brandon Sparks.  Six great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 29, 2004, from the Dial Church of Christ with Minister Terry Stuart and Minister Butch Jones  officiating.  Serving as pallbearers were David Thomas, Tony Thomas, Jeff Latta, Brandon Sparks, Vernon Gibbs, James Burrell and Gary Beaver.  Mrs. Forrester was laid to rest in the Van Zandt Cemetery.  Henry-Cochran Funeral Home, Blue Ridge, Georgia in charge of the arrangements.  Log on to www.cochranfuneralhomes.com to send condolences.

marguerite hulsey

 

Marguerite Hulsey, 81, of Blairsville, Georgia, died on July 1, 2004, due to a long-term illness.  She was born in Louisburg, North Carolina.  She married her beloved Jarrell James “Jimmie” Hulsey in 1946, upon the end of World War II.  They moved to Cobb County, Georgia, and made their home in Marietta for about 28 years.  They each retired from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation after over 50 years of combined service.  The Hulsey’s moved to Blairsville in 1978 and quickly became part of the Track Rock community.  Their church membership was at McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee and First Baptist Church in Blairsville.

Marguerite was a loving and devoted caregiver for her husband and for many years, a shining example to family and friends.

Marguerite is predeceased by her loving “Jimmie” (known to friends as “James” or “Jim”), her parents, Rom and Fannie Catlett; sister Edna Suggs, and brothers Davis, L.G., and Earl Catlett.

She is survived by her son, John Hulsey of Marietta daughter Cathleen Thero and grandson Gregory Thero both of Blairsville; and step-family Jerry and Norma Hulsey of Dahlonega; Mike, Rhonda, and Ali Garrett of Marietta; and James, Missy and Lindsey Hulsey of Marietta.

Marguerite is also survived by her brother Epp and Mildred Catlett, of Louisburg, NC; Clara Catlett, of Jacksonville, and Margaret and Walt Rex of Florida.  She is also survived by Norma Jean Blackwell of Jacksonville, FL; L.G. and Cindy Catlett, Jr. of Mobile, AL; Carolyn and Jimmy Dorman of Erwin, NC; Rom and Chrissy Catlett of Warrenton, VA; Morris and Pam Catlett of Paris, France; Crystal Catlett of Louisburg, NC; Debbie Lancaster of Louisburg, NC; Faye and Sonny Walker of Raleigh, NC; Smitty Hulsey; Angie; Bill Dickerson, Sue Cape, Tommy Dickerson, Kenny Dickerson; June Bagwell; Jarrell Dickerson; Philip Holcombe, Anthony Holcombe, Allen Holcombe, Jackie Holcombe, Lanier Holcombe, Modine Phillips; Frank Hulsey; and Ralph Hulsey.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. from the funeral home chapel.  The funeral and eulogies were conducted by members of Mrs. Hulsey’s family.  Rev. Marion Beaver, Rev. Jon Johnson, Roy Cole and Crystal Catlett, then conducted the graveside services.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: L.G. Catlett, Rom Catlette, Morris Catlette, Jimmy, Tommy and Kenny Dickerson.  Interment followed in the Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Young Harris College Scholarship Fund or to your favorite charity in Mrs. Hulsey’s name.
