Mrs.
Florence Barber von Hof, age 87, of
Blairsville, GA, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2010 following a
brief
illness. Mrs.
von Hof was born on November 26, 1922 in Annapolis, MD., Anna Rundal
County,
the daughter of the late Robert E. Barber and the late Sidney Fontaine
Barber. Mrs. von Hof was the widow of the
late W. C.
"Bill" von Hof who died in June 1988.
Surviving is
their son, Hunter William von Hof of Blairsville, daughter in law, Dawn
Marie
Pieret von Hof of Blairsville, granddaughter, Hannah Marie von Hof of
Blairsville, sister, Mrs. Dorothy "Sissy" Hunicutt, brother-in-law,
Warren Hunnicutt Jr. of Blairsville, nephews, Warren Hunnicutt IV of
St.
Petersburg, FL, Kyle Mills of St. Petersburg, FL, cousins and grand
nieces of
Florida and Maryland.
Mrs. von
Hof attended the House of Prayer Church and was a member of Rob Morris
#1
Chapter of the Eastern Star. She served
with the Union General Hospital Auxiliary for seventeen years.
Funeral services will be held on
Wednesday July 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from the House of Prayer Church
with the
Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Mrs. von
Hof will lie in state at the church from 12-1pm. The
following gentleman will serve as
pallbearers, Hunter von Hof, Richie Carey, Travis Kelly, Joe Pieret
Sr., Woody
Woodmansee and John Lemmon. Serving as
honorary pallbearers will be, Jim Collins, Gordon Hale and Joe Pieret
Jr. Music will be presented by House
of Prayer
church choir. Interment will follow in
the Choestoe Community Cemetery. The
family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening
from 5-8 p.m.

Mr.
Alexander Carl Mottola, age 88, of
Suches, GA, passed away on July 1, 2010 at the North East Georgia
Medical
Center. He was born on August 2, 1922 in
Frankfort, NY. He
proudly served our country in WWII in the army. He
received his BS degree at the University of
Syracuse and his Masters degree in Chemical Engineering at the
University of
New Mexico. He was one of the few men
selected to work on the Oppenheimer’s program in Los Alamos, New
Mexico. His talents then took him to
Livermore, CA to
work at Lawrence Radiation Laboratory as a Research Chemical Engineer
regarding
solar energy. He retired from Russell
Research Lab in Athens, GA.
Surviving are
his wife of sixty years, Mary L. Mottola and a daughter and son-in-law
(who was
more like a son), Lexi and Jim Adkins of Suches, Georgia.
He devoted his life to wife and
daughter and felt education and establishing goals were the true key to
success. We will miss you Dad, but
know
that we learned so much from you and we hold the same values you held
so high.
A memorial
service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family
requests that memorials may be made to the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church
in Suches
in memory of Mr. Mottola.

Mr.
Chester Earl Fink age 85, of Coosa Valley Rd., Blairsville, passed away
on
Friday July 2, 2010 in the Union General Hospital following an extended
illness. Mr. Fink was born on November
9, 1924 in Circle Hill, OH, the son of the late Alfred P. Fink and the
late
Hazel McNabb Fink. He was a veteran of
the US Army of WWII. Chester was a
loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Mr.
Fink was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving
Mr. Fink
are his loving wife of sixty-two years, Florabell Fink of Blairsville,
two
children, Alfred D. Fink of Bloomington, CA, and Kittie J. Skinner of
Blairsville, three sisters and brother-in-laws, Betty and Bob Thompson,
Marion
and Russ Switzer, Freida and Al Biller all of Canton, OH, seven
grandchildren,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
No
services are planned at this time. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be
made to
a children’s organization of your choice in memory of Mr. Fink.

Mr. Wes
Wells, age 88, of Wesley Mtn. Drive,
Blairsville, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2010 in the Union County
Nursing
Home following an extended illness. Wes
was born on Aug. 27, 1921 in Shelton, CT, the son of the late William
Wells and
the late Lottie Sanford Wells. He was a
veteran of the US Army of WWII. He was
owner operator of Wes Wells Builder for over forty years.
Wes built and flew experimental airplanes up
until he was 77 years old and rode a motorcycle until the age of 86. He was a Master Mason. Wes
attended the First Baptist Church and
also Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr.
Wells are two sons and daughter-in-laws, Howard and Jackie Wells of
Blairsville, Donald and Deborah Wells of Las Vegas, NV, one brother,
Franklin
Wells of East Hampton, CT, one sister, Rose Clark of Franklin, ME,
three
grandchildren, David Wells, Michelle Apple and Toni Pruden, many other
relatives and friends also survive.
No services are planned at this
time. In lieu of flowers if you wish,
the family requests that memorials may be made to a favorite charity of
your
choice in memory of Mr. Wells.
