Mr.
Clarence William Watkins, age 79, of Nottely Dam Road, Blairsville, GA
died
Thursday, July 2, 1998 in a Fannin County Health Center.
He was a
native of Union County, GA and was a Timberman.
He was a member of the Zion Hill
Baptist
Church.
Mr. Watkins
was a son of the late John Henry and Louvidia Allen Watkins and was
preceded in
death by a daughter, Louise Odom who died in 1987.
He is
survived by his wife, Pauline Poteete Watkins; a son and his wife
Gerald and
Judy Watkins of Blairsville, GA.; Burdetta Davis of Cleveland,
Tennessee; and
two grandsons, Tommy Watkins and Tony Watkins.
Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 4,
1998, at the Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel, Murphy, NC.
The Rev. Brian Souther will officiate. Burial
will be in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church
Cemetery in Union County, Georgia.
Pallbearers will be Glen Davenport, Cecil Beavers, Ellard
Davenport,
Kent Davenport, David Wilson and Billy Poteete.
The
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July
3, 1998 at the Townson Rose funeral Home, Murphy, NC.

charge of arrangements.

Mrs.
Dorothy Helton Howard, 71, of Blairsville, GA died Tuesday, June 30,
1998. She was the daughter of the late
Benjamin
Ivan and Althea Etta Helton and the widow of Fred Howard.
She was of the Baptist faith. She
was a homemaker and a nurse.
Surviving are
four daughters, Gail Stinchfield of Atlanta, GA., Rose Anderson of
Murphy,
Sandi Okeefe of Dalton, GA. And Pam Kelley of Blairsville, GA.; two
sons, Joe
Howard of Chatsworth, GA. And Randy Howard of Lilburn, GA.; a sister,
Velda
Johnson of Charlotte; three brothers, Clyde Helton of Murphy, Floyd
Helton of
Loudon, TN and Dennis Helton of Knoxville, TN; Thirteen grandchildren
and
great-grandchildren. many other relatives
and friends
also survive.
Funeral
services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2,
at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev., Jerry Helton and Rev. Joe
Morrow officiating. Burial
in the Mt. Pleasant
Cemetery. Pallbearers;
Dan Anderson, Richard Stinchfield, Travis Kelley, Robert O’Keefe,
Shannon
Freeman and Chris Howard.
Visitant
from 7-9 Wednesday evening at
the Ivie Funeral Home in Murphy. The family had requested memorials may be
