Mr.
George
Wilton Middleton, age 76, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday,
June 20,
2008 at his home.
Mr.
Middleton was born Sunday, April 17, 1932 in Waco, Texas, to the late
Lester and the late Ida Medinka Middleton. He attended Blairsville First Baptist
Church. Mr. Middleton cared deeply for
his family. Mr. Middleton was a U.S. Air
Force Veteran, and served during the Korean Conflict.
He was also a member of the ROMEO Club,
Blairsville Chapter. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Patricia Thornton Middleton.
Survivors
include: daughter & son-in-law, Valerie & Byron Adams of
Memphis,
Tennessee; daughter & son-in-law, Vanessa & Neal watts of
Cullman,
Alabama; son, Art Middleton of Blairsville, Georgia; daughter and
son-in-law,
Vicki & Kyle McManus of McDonough, Georgia; brother, Carroll
Middleton of
Tours, Texas. Grandchildren include:
Ashley Adams, Daniel Adams, Aaron Adams, Philip & Angie Adams,
Adrian
Adams, Joshua Adams, Avery Watts, Jamie Watts, Karla Watts, Ryan
McManus, Sean
McManus and Shelby McManus. Great
grandchildren
include: Ava grace Adams, Devon Wallace and Ace Hamilton.
He also leaves many, many dear friends
behind.

services were held Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Cochran Funeral

Music was provided by Rev. Adam Pardue.
Military honors were presented by North Georgia Honor Guard.

Cook, age 75, of Marietta, GA, formerly of Blairsville, GA, passed away
Thursday, July 3, 2008.
Mr. Cook
was born Wednesday, January 11, 1933 in Union County, A, to the late
John Waco
Cook and the late Ulma Akins Cook. He
was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, the United Auto Workers and
was a U.S.
Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by a brother, J.W. Cook.
Survivors
include his loving wife, Frances Sampson Cook of Marietta; daughter

son-in-law, Melissa Cook and David Sherman of Woodstock; step grandson,

Mrs.
Jean Mathis age 73 of Marietta, Georgia, died Friday, June 27, 2008.
Funeral
services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 30 from the chapel of

A native of
Blairsville, GA, Mrs. Mathis was a member of Chattahoochee First
Baptist Church
and was a homemaker. She was a loving
and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

MacDougald II, age 56, after a long illness, entered into rest on
Friday, June
25, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his sons. Mr.
MacDougald was a native of Atlanta but
for many years had been a resident of Union County, and more recently,
a
resident of Towns County. He owned
Hooper Branch Organic Farm in Hiawassee, GA.
Mr. MacDougald was preceded in death by his father, Gilmer Adams
MacDougald, and his brother, Gilmer Adams MacDougald, Jr.
He is

Mary
Fullington Hudgins, age 87, of Blairsville, died Monday
at Union County Nursing Home, two days before her 88th
birthday.
She
was born in Pinehurst on July 2, 1920, and was the fourth of ten
children born
to the alt James D. Fullington and Mary Adina Wilson Fullington. In the early 1940’s, she moved to Wildwood,
Florida, with her husband, the late Olin W. Hudgins, and their young
son. Later, they moved to Orlando where
their
daughter was born. She worked for Crown
Cork & Sea, Co. until her retirement in 1973. Following
her husband’s retirement, they
began to
travel and fell in love with the mountains of Blairsville, Georgia, and
soon
made it their second home and finally their full-time home.
She
was a member of Killarney Baptist Church in Orlando, but in recent
years her
health made it impossible for her to attend, so she rarely missed a
television
sermon. It was her belief that the Lord
wants His people to be involved in church and love everyone.
Mrs.
Hudgins loved her family and her friends and appreciated all the good
Lord
blessed her with. She also had a great
love for gardening and flowers and that love was inspired by her early
years
living on a rural farm during the depression.
She is
survived by her children, James Olin Hudgins of Christmas, Fl and Linda
Hudgins
Thornton (Jerry) of Blairsville; sisters, Martha Brown of Vienna and
Helen
Chester of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, James Olin Hudgins, Jr. (Joy) of

She was

Ruby Fisher, age 80, of Poplar Drive, Blairsville, passed away on

July 5, 2008 at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Fisher was born on March 10, 1928 in
Sevierville, TN, the daughter of the late Henry Sizemore and the late
Tilda
Lunsford Sizemore. Mrs. Fisher was a
loving mother and grandmother. Her
favorite pastime was shopping. Mrs.
Fisher was of the Baptist faith.

Linda Rose Spiva Carlyle, age 58, of Blairsville, passed away on

Mr. Frank
Grant Gayle, age 79, of Walnut Springs Rd., Blairsville, passed away on
Saturday, May 31, 2008 at his home following a sudden illness. Mr. Gayle was born on March 7, 1931, in
Jacksonville, FL, the son of the late Laurence Gayle and the late Anna
Grant
Gayle. He was a veteran of the US
Navy. He had retired as a
pharmacist. One of his hobbies was being
an avid photographer. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Doris Pearson Gayle in 2004.
Mr. Gayle was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church.

Mr. Gayle are two sons, Howard Gayle of Campbell City, CA, Terry Gayle

Purcell Thompson, age 82, died Friday, July 4, 2008 in the Union County
Nursing
Home, after an extended illness. She was
born in Kentucky on August 3, 19224, and has been a resident of

her adult life in Pasadena, CA, where she worked for many years for
Price
Waterhouse. She returned to Georgia to
be near family and lived at Branan Lodge for a number of years. She was a member of Grace Community

Eiko Baxter, age 77 of Murphy Hwy., Blairsville, passed away peacefully
on
Monday, June 30, 2008 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Baxter was born on Aug. 7, 1930, in
Japan, the daughter of the late Tasanoro Takahasi and Hana Yonezawa
Takahasi. Eiko loved fishing,
crocheting, and most of all, loved her husband, children and
