Mr. Joe
Franklin Brown, age 51, of Blairsville, passed away Friday, July 5,
1996. Mr. Brown was born November 4, 1944
in Union
County to Lum Obert and Bennie Lee Fortenberry Brown.
Survivors
include his mother, Bennie Lee Brown of Blairsville; son, Anthony Brown
and
daughter, Tina Franklin, both of Blairsville; 5 sisters, Florence
Winkler of
Blairsville, Velma Harkins, also of Blairsville, Shirley Burnette of
Gainesville, and Clara Dyer and Bonnie Henderson, both of Blairsville;
and 3
brothers, Robert Brown, of Smyrna, Lum Jr. Brown of Marietta and Jack
Brown of
Blairsville, 4 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other
relatives
also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, July 7, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of
the
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Horace Potts officiating. Music was provided by Ned Wilcoxin, Willaree
Davenport and Lewis Smith. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: Ernie Harkins, Doug Brown, Jerry
“Bone”
Carpenter, Terry Hedden, William Winkler and John Franklin Brown.
Interment was
in Coosa Methodist Church Cemetery.
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the arrangements.

little miss sara alicia franklin
Little
Miss Sara Alicia Franklin, age 4, of Blairsville, passed away suddenly
Wednesday, July 3, 1996.
Sara was
born in Union County, Georgia, on July 15, 1991. She
and her family attended Mt. Pleasant
Church of God in Hiawassee. Sara’s
grandfather, Jim Franklin, passed away in December of 1995.
Surviving
are her parents, Steven A. Franklin, and Pamela Lynn Collins Franklin,
both of
Blairsville; brothers, Andy and Cory; maternal grandparents, James F.
and Ruby
Collins, of Blairsville; paternal grandparents, Angela and Ben Akins,
of
Blairsville; maternal great grandfather, Otis Garrett, of Blairsville;
many
Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins also survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, July 5, 1996 at 2 p.m. from Mt. Pleasant
Church of
God with Rev. Jarvis, Bennett, (sic)
Rev. Glen Eller, and Rev. Jerry Young
officiating.
Special music was presented by Joe Woodcock and Glen and Shelia
Eller. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: David Collins, Phillip Collins, Greg Collins, Billy
Franklin,
Jimmy Franklin, and Tony Worley. Interment
was in Boyd’s Chapel Cemetery in Hiawassee.
