Mr.
Prince
L. Byers, 74, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, July 7, 1997
in
Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mr. Byers
was born in Fannin County, Georgia, on April 7,
1923, a son of the late Fitzhugh Byers and Delia Lance Byers. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War
II. Mr. Byers was a carpenter and was a
lifelong resident of this area. He was a
member of Confidence Methodist Church and was also a member of
Allegheny
Masonic Lodge, #114, F&AM. In 1992,
a son, Randy Byers, preceded him in death.
Surviving
are son, David L. Byes, of Hiram, GA; daughter,
Donna Dyer of Blairsville; brother, Carl Byers, of Blairsville; 9
grandchildren
and eleven great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, July 9, 1997 at 11 a.m. from the chapel
of Cochran
Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Special
music was presented by Mary and Steve
Newton. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers: Scott Byers, Sean Byers, Tim Cook, Jack Byers, Matt
Cook,
Raymond Byers, and Carlton Byers. Interment
was in Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery.

Billie
Jean Hamlin, age 59, of Rocky Mountain Place, Suches, GA, died Sunday
July 6,
1997 at the Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA following an extended
illness. Ms. Hamlin was a native of Alexander County,
North Carolina who had lived in Suches for the past 25 years. She was a former resident of Marietta,
GA. She was a homemaker and was of the
Baptist faith. She is survived by
daughter son-in-law; Glenda & Peter Imhoff, Acworth, GA, sons &
daughter-in-laws; Travis & Elaine Hamlin, Taylorsville, NC, Jeff
&
Colleen Hamlin, Jasper, GA, sisters:
Angie Gilreath, Taylorsville, NC, & Liv Covington, Virginia,
Grandchildren:
Ryan Imhoff, Amanda Hamlin, Teravor Beavers, & Sierra Hamlin. Several other relatives also survive. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday July
9, 1997 at the Zion Baptist Church in Suches with Rev. Malcolm Chapman
officiating. Interment followed in the
church cemetery. The family received
friends at the funeral home after 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mr.
Kenneth
Manuel Rosser Sr. age 790, of 9277 Cavender Mountain View, Suches, GA
died
Sunday July 6, 1997 at the Union General Hospital in Blairsville GA
following a
short illness. Mr. Rosser was a native
of Grantville, GA who had lived in Suches for the past ten years. He was a former resident of Forest Park,
GA. He was a retired Lieutenant with the
Forest Park Georgia Fire Department, U.S. Navy Veteran, member and
deacon at
Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Suches. He
is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vivian Rosser, Suches, GA; children,
Kenneth
Manuel Rosser Jr., Gainesville, GA, Daniel F. Rosser, Cleveland, GA,
James A.
Sanders, Las Vegas, Nevada, Linda Trenmore, Palm Bay, Fla.; sister,
Wilene
Duncan, Jacksonville, Fla; twelve grandchildren, several
great-grandchildren
and several other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Thursday July 10, 1997 at the Mr.
(sic)
Lebanon Baptist Church in Suches with the remains placed in state at
the church
at 10 a.m. Rev. Jimmy tanner officiated
and interment followed in the church cemetery.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.

Wednesday. The family requested that in
lieu of flowers those desiring to do so, make contributions to the Mt.
Lebanon
Baptist Church building fund, 12132 Wolfpen Gap Rd., Suches, GA 30572.

Maylon Godwin, age 71, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday,
July 7,
1997.
Mr.
Godwin was born in Palm Beach County, Florida on July 4,
1926, a son of the late William Godwin and Virgil Lee Funderburk Godwin. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the
Korean War. Mr. Godwin had lived in the
Blairsville area for the past four years, coming here from Ft. Pierce
Florida. He was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Fort Pierce; a member of Woodmen of the World, and
the
American Legion, Blairsville, Post #0121.
Surviving
are his wife, Violetta Godwin of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law,
Dale and
Katherine Godwin of Blairsville; sister, Frances Cranfield of Florida;
and
grandson, Mark Godwin of Blairsville.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, July 10, 1997 at 11 a.m. from the chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Harrison Bradley
officiating. Special music was presented
by Ken and Elaine
Young. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Gilbert Baldwin, Keith Ford, Phillip Abernathy, Dale
Godwin,
Daniel Ford, and Mark Godwin. Interment
was
in Union memory gardens Cemetery.

Anna
L. brown (nee Sparks) of Akron, passed away July 2, 1997.
Anna,
born in Blairsville, GA. moved to the Akron area in
1943. She was a member of the Akron
Baptist Temple.
Preceded
in death by her husband, Robert C. Brown, she is
survived by her son, Ed (Robin) Brown of Uniontown; daughters, LaDonna
(James)
Grace of Akron, Delores (Chuck) Hetzler of Clinton and Eileen (Joe)
Tatonetti
of Alabama; sister, Lucille Young of Blairsville, GA.,; 20
grandchildren, four
great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee and Naomi
Brown of
Ellet; sister-in-law, Lona Lincoln of Washington. She
will also be sadly missed by many nieces
and nephews.
Funeral
services were held Monday, July 7, 1997 at Schermesser Funeral Home,
South Main
Street Chapel, 1446 S. Main Street. Dr. Charles F. Billington officiated. Interment was at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
