Mrs. Dana Elizabeth Dyer, age 34, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at her home.

Dana was born FRIDAY, March 31, 1972, in Coahoma County, Mississippi.  She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was a Third Grade Teacher in Union County elementary School.  She was preceded in death by her father, William Belmont McClenic.

Survivors include husband, Tim Dyer; son, Logan Chandler Dyer; mother & father, Ellen R. & Charles A. Kennedy; brother & sister-in-law, Michael Scott & Danita Owenby Kennedy; brother, Joshua Read Kennedy, all of Blairsville;  sister, Stephanie Kennedy Hogan, of Atlanta; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Tommy & Donna Dyer of Blairsville; grandmother, Elizabeth M. Read of Blairsville; grandmother, Lucille McClenic of Vance, MS; nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts & a host of friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. George Cline officiating.  Music was provided by Antioch Baptist Church Choir, Patsy Davenport, Michael, Danita, and Joshua Kennedy, Tammy Blasingame and Sarah Floyd.  Interment followed in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Scott Byers, Sean Byers, David Dyer, Keith Freeman, Alan Freeman and Brian Horton.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Friday, July 14.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Logan Dyer Educational Fund that has been set up at United Community Bank.

marshall c. “bud” rose

 

Mr. Marshall C. “Bud” Rose, age 75, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 20066 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mr. Rose was born Thursday, September 11, 1930, in Knoxville, TN, to the late Lewis Rose and the late Ethel Jordan Rose.  He was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church and Allegheny Masonic Lodge #114, F&AM.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Rose and Sister, Cora Lee Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Bridges Rose of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Selena and Steve Larkin of Columbia, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Pattie Rose of Cleveland, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Pete Thomas of Elberton, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Al Tatum of Atlanta; sister and brother-in-law, Dee Dee and Wally Darby of Cartersville, GA; brother, Roy Rose of Blairsville; and granddaughter, Rhiannon Hill-Rose of Cleveland, GA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. Brent Chatham and Rev. Tommy Jenkins officiating.  Music was provided by The Kelley Trio.  Interment followed in Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery with graveside rites by the Allegheny Masonic Lodge.  Serving as pallbearers were the following gentlemen: Travis George, Shannon Gregory, Matt Leisch, Thomas Nichols, Brett Barnes, and Roy Rose II.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-10, Saturday, July 15.

Opal M. Cash, age 73, born September 17, 1933, died June 16, 2006 after an extended illness.  She was living in Plant City, FL, but was born and raised in Blairsville.

She is preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Kate 7 John Lunsford; father and step-mother, Walter & Jessie Rogers; a granddaughter, and great-granddaughter Tanesha & Rachel Cable.

She is survived by her husband and sons, Ralph, Larry, & Alex all of the home, two daughters and son-in-laws, Lavietta & Dale Barns and Kim & R.L. Byers; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A private service was held for her.  She will be truly missed.
