mr. cecil lee anderson

 

Mr.  Cecil Lee Anderson, age 40, of Picklesimer Road, Blairsville, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mr. Anderson was born on Oct. 15, 1964 in Union County, the son of Robert Anderson and Donnie Grant Anderson.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County.  Mr. Anderson was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Anderson are his parents, Robert and Donnie Anderson of Blairsville, five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Ann and Ottis Franklin of Blairsville, Brenda and John Chambers of Blairsville, Dora Appel Cook of Blairsville, Becky and Tim Rich of Blairsville, Peggy and Ken Denning of Blairsville, two brothers and one sister-in-law, James Anderson of Blairsville, Brandon and Milisia Anderson of Blairsville, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 8, 2005 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer and Rev. Brent Chatham officiating.  Special music was presented by the Kelley Trio.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Travis Gibson, David Franklin, Kenny White, Charles Gibson, Chris Anderson, Melvin Gibson, Tim Rich.  Serving as honorary pallbearers were, Ottis Franklin and Charlie Payne.  Interment followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

louis edward bigger

 

Mr. Louis Edward Bigger, age 89, of Stonehenge Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at his residence following a brief illness.  Mr. Bigger was born on Sept. 30, 1915 in Parlier, CA, the son of the late James Edward Bigger and the late Mabel Feit Bigger.  He had retired from the Madera, CA Elementary School where he served as Principal for over thirty five years.  He also retired as CEO from the Madera Federal Credit Union with thirty five years of service.  He was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Bigger in 1998 and by a sister, Lois Guyett in 2005.  Mr. Bigger was a member of the CA Retired Teachers Assoc. and also was a member of the Madera Presbyterian Church.

Surviving Mr. Bigger are one son and daughter-in-law, John and Joyce Bigger of Warne, NC, eight grandchildren, John Riley Bigger of Fresno, CA, Kelli Marie Romero, Brett, Shawn, Chad and Bryan Bigger all of Santa Maria, CA, twelve great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services and interment will be held from the Madera Cemetery in Madera, CA.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be to Regency Hospice of N.E. Georgia, P.O. Box 494, Hiawassee, GA 30546 in Mr. Bigger’s memory.

doris evelyn collins

 

Doris Evelyn Collins, age 70, of Marietta died Friday, July 15, 2005.  Funeral services were held Sunday, July 17, 2005, 2 p.m. at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with Rev. J. T. Hollingshed officiating.  Burial followed at Pine Ridge Memorial Park in Kennesaw.

Mrs. Collins was a native of Blairsville and had lived in Marietta for the past 50 years.  A homemaker most of her life, Mrs. Collins was of the Baptist faith and member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Blairsville.

Survivors include: husband William H. Collins of Marietta; daughters, Terry Lynn Norman of Dallas, GA, Lisa Dean of Ballground, GA; sister, Kathy Jo Walton of Young Harris, GA; 5 grandsons.

mrs. ellene black tanner

 

Mrs. Ellene Black Tanner, age 80, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, July 11, 2005 at Union General Hospital.  Mrs. Tanner was born Friday, July 25, 1924 in Union County, GA to the late Jim Black and the late Hattie Head Black.  A member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by daughter, Ludy Mae Tanner, brothers, Henry and Robert Black.

Survivors include: husband, Lloyd Tanner of Blairsville, GA; daughter, Violet Taylor of blue Ridge, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Tutie and Bill Donaldson of Blairsville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, J.L. and Carolyn Tanner of Blairsville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Patsy Tanner of Braselton, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Avery Hughes of Blairsville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Eloise and Gerald Millsaps of Blairsville, GA; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Mason officiating.  Music was provided by Gloria Griggs.  Interment followed in Coopers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Keith Donaldson, Douglas Tanner, Richard Tanner, Kevin Hughes, Scott Hughes, Derrick Hughes, Daniel Millsaps and Jeremy Nicholson.  The family received friends at the funeral home form 6-9, Tuesday, July 12.

mr. quitman fender

 

Mr. Quitman Fender, age 71, of Blairsville, GA formerly of Valdosta, GA, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2005 in Blairsville, GA following a short illness.

A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Fender was born March 18, 1934, son of Fisher and Sara Joyce Fender.  He retired from the paper mill in Clayttville after 42 year of employment and moved to Blairsville, GA where he had resided for the past 6 years.  His wife Mary Eliza McDuffie Fender preceded him in death.

Survivors include: one daughter, Cathy Sasnett and husband David of Pinetta, FL; three sons, Roger Fender and wife Jeanne of Bedford, TX, Ronnie Fender and Johnny Fender of Blairsville GA; one sister, Mary Manning of Woodbine, GA; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside funeral services and interment for Mr. Fender were held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2005 at New Bethel Cemetery in Pearson, GA with Rev. Carlie Lastinger officiating.  Special music included “In His Arms I’m Not Afraid,” rendered by the Sweetwater Creek Singers, with D.Q. Pittman on the guitar, Huey Bennett on the mandolin and Neal Gillis on the banjo.

mrs. nancy christine seabolt

 

Mrs. Nancy Christine Seabolt, age 78, of Suches, GA died Thursday, July 14, 2005 at the Northeast GA Medical Center in Gainesville, GA following an extended illness.

Mrs. Seabolt was a native of Lumpkin County, GA who had lived in Union County for many years.  She was retired from the Burlington Industries Pine Tree Plant in Dahlonega and was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Suches, GA.

She was the daughter of the late Grady Garl Moose and Carrie Jarrard Moose and was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Seabolt and brother Emory Moose.

Mrs. Seabolt is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Wallace and Elaine Seabolt, Dahlonega, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Claude Gilstrap, Dahlonega, GA, Charlotte and Joe Corbin, Suches, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Emogene Betsil, Dahlonega, GA, Virginia and Clyde Harkins, Suches, GA; brother, Garland Moose, Suches, GA; grandchildren: Michael Gilstrap, William Gilstrap, Tina Gilstrap Crow, Ben Barnes, Joseph Corbin, James Seabolt, Crissy Seabolt Neihouse, and Zeke Fry; great grandchildren: Jessica Gilstrap, Michael Gilstrap, Will Gilstrap, Ansley Gilstrap, Joni Neihouse; great great grandchild, Dalton Miles, numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2005 at the Zion Baptist Church in Suches, GA with the remains placed in state at the church at 1 p.m.

Rev. Gerald Edmondson and Rev. Michael Wilkes officiated.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.
