mrs. susanne combs henning

 

Mrs. Susanne Combs Henning, age 74, of Blairsville passed away on Friday, July 16, 2004 at her home.

Mrs. Henning was born in Chicago, IL on Sunday, November 24, 1929.  She was a daughter of the late Roger and Norma Stephens Combs and was also preceded in death by a son, James Weaver Henning, III and a sister, Nancy Combs.

She attended Connecticut College in New York and received a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Miami where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.  She worked as an art director in an advertising agency in Chicago.  Mrs. Henning, her husband and family lived in Atlanta for 37 years before retiring to Blairsville in 1997.

Surviving is her loving husband of 49 years, James W. Henning; daughters, Julie Henning Ditto and husband, Steve of Blairsville and Allison Henning Beach and husband, Rev. Dr. Foley Beach of Monroe, GA; son, Doug Henning of Lawrenceville, GA; grandson, James Henning Beach; granddaughter, Rebekah Susanne Beach; sister, Carol Ebert of West Palm Beach, FL.

A Memorial service was held on Monday, July 19, 2004 in the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Foley Beach officiating.

mr. william p. L_eGrande

 

Mr. William P. LeGrande, age 90, of Blairsville, GA., passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge, GA.

Mr. LeGrande was born August 9, 1913 in Concord, NC., a son of the late W.P. LeGrande, Sr., and Nannie White LeGrande.  He moved to Blairsville in 1983 from Moncks Corner, SC.  Mr. LeGrande was a charter member of Mountain Presbyterian Church in Blairsville, a member of AARP and NARFE.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. LeGrande in October, 2003.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia G. and Mabry A. Collins of Hamilton, GA; brothers, H.E. LeGrande of Raleigh, NC and J.R. LeGrande of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Michael L. and Denise B. Collins and Stephanie Collins, all of Atlanta, GA; great granddaughter, McKenna Claire Collins of Atlanta, GA.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 11:00 am at Mountain Presbyterian Church with Rev. Travis Adams officiating.  Burial was in Double Springs Methodist Church Cemetery in Mountain Rest, SC., with Rev. Mabry Collins officiating.

linda faye cole

 

Mrs. Linda Faye Cole, age 52, of Alexander Ave, Blairsville, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2004 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. Cole was born on Nov. 28, 1951 in Crestview, FL., the daughter of the late Elvin Kilpatrick and the late Idel Williams Kilpatrick.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Lee in 1997.  Mrs. Cole was a member of the Harvest Fellowship Church.

Surviving Mrs. Cole are loving husband of sixteen years, Ed Cole of Blairsville, four children, Trina Wyatt of Blairsville, David and Suzzette Bargeron of Valrico, Fl, Carrie Kubic of Akron, OH, David Cole of Sefner, FL., four sisters, Mildred Rhoden of Plant City, FL., Annette Cornwell of Jacksonville, FL., Louise Wooten of New York, Teresa Henderson of Plant City, FL., six grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 11 a.m. from the Hopewell Funeral Home Chapel in Plant City, FL., with the Rev. Mike Youngblood officiating.  Interment followed in the Hopewell Cemetery in Plant City.

johnnie milford edmonson

 

Mr. Johnnie Milford Edmonson, age 85, of Stonehenge Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2004 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mr. Edmonson was born on May 23, 1919 in Eva, Alabama, the son of the late Emory Manuel Edmonson and the late Addie Idell Mitchell Edmonson.  He was a member of the Humboldt Lodge #202 in Humboldt, TN and was a 32 degree Mason.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Thrasher Edmonson in 2001.  Mr. Edmonson was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Edmonson are one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Glen Rose of Blairsville, one sister Edelweiss Ciochon of Dawagiac, MI, two grandchildren, Jennifer Rose and Ben Rose, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 19, 2004 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. George Yates officiating.  Mr. Edmonson’s favorite hymns were presented for the service.  Interment and graveside services followed at 4 p.m. from the Rescue Methodist Cemetery in Morgan City, AL.
