Mrs.
Mary Turner Jackson, age 81, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Sunday, July
12, 1998, in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.
Mrs.
Jackson was born on Friday, may 25, 1917, in Union County, Georgia, to James Lon Turner and Jane Wimpey Turner. She was a lifelong resident of this area, and
was a member of First United Methodist Church in Union County. Preceding in death
was husband, Kermit Jackson; husband, Arlen Jackson; son, Bill Jackson;
and
grandson, Manning Gracia.
Surviving
are her daughter; Margaret Jane Gracia, of new Bedford, Massachusetts;
five
step-children: Gail Skinner and Sandy Jackson, both of Powder Springs,
Georgia;
Nellie Jackson of Memphis, Tennessee; Bill Jackson, of Louisville,
Texas; and
Byron Jackson, of jasper, Alabama; brother; Carl Turner, of
Gainesville,
Georgia; sister-in-law, Florida Turner, of Rockmart, Georgia; nieces
and
nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, July 15, 1998 at 11
a.m. from Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Black
officiating. Special music was presented
by Ken and Elaine
Young. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Bill Collins, Carlton Collins, Larry Turner, Gary Turner,
James H.
Turner, and Truitt Crumbley. Interment
was in harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Cochran

charge of arrangements.

Miss
Clarine Alexander, age 85, of Blairsville, GA passed away FRIDAY, July
17, 1998
following a period of declining health.
Miss Alexander was born in Towns County February 12, 1912 the
daughter
of William and Mae Norton Alexander.
Surving are tow sisters: Mrs. Bonnie Phillips of Blairsville, GA
and
Mrs. Willa Mae Puett of Hiawassee, GA and a number of nieces and
nephews. Funeral services were held
Sunday, July 19,
1998 at 2 p.m. from the Old Brasstown Baptist Church with the Rev.
Jimmy Rogers
officiating. Interment was in the Old
Brasstown Cemetery. Music was provided
by U.E. and Dorothy Sampson. Pallbearers
were Dan King, Chester Puett, Don Phillips, Troy Norton, Joe Hall and
Cecil
Dye. Banister

Mr.
Robert Milton Timmons, age 75, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Monday,
July 13, 1998 at his home.
Mr. Timmons
was born I Detroit, Michigan and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. Bob served in the Nashville, TN Guard in the
119th Calvary and 118th Field Artillery and them enlisted in the U.S.
Navy in
1940, and served 20 years until 1960. He
then worked for Pratt-Whitney Aircraft until his retirement in 1977. He married Merle Hathaway of Miami, Florida
in 1943, who survives him, along with a son, Robert, Jr., of
Blairsville, and a
daughter, Linda Huddleston, of Sebring, Florida. His
daughter, Nancy Jo Amendola, predeceased
him. Bob is also survived by six
grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Timmons has been a long time seasonal resident in
Blairsville,
Georgia, residing in palm beach County, Florida for part of the year
until he
and his wife, Merle, Moved permanently to Blairsville in 1966. Bob was a life member of the VFW, a member of
Masonic Bodies, Garden Lodge, AF/AM, Florida and Allegheny Lodge in
Blairsville, Scottish Rite, and York Rite
Bodies in
Florida and Royal Order of Jesters in Palm Beach, Florida.
Memorial
services were held Wednesday, July 15, 1998 at 2
p.m. from Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with a full Masonic funeral
service,
presented by Allegheny Masonic Lodge #114, F&AM.

Mr.
Cody Elwin Johnson, age 71, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Friday, July
17, 1998 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr. Johnson
was born in warren County, New York on December 8, 1926, and was a U.S.
navy
veteran of World War II. He was a
retired electrician, and moved to Blairsville three years ago, coming
from
Inverness, Florida. Mr. Johnson was very active in VFW, and served as
Quartermaster. He was also a member of
The Elks, and The American legion. Mr.
Johnson was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving
are his wife, Paul Paris Johnson, of Blairsville; son and
daughter-in-law,
Brock and Marge Johnson, of Gansevoort, NY; step-son and
step-daughter-in-law,
E. Paul and Linda Stanley, of Blairsville; brother, John Johnson;
grandsons
Daniel and Greg Johnson, and step-grandson, Phillip Stanley; many
friends and
other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, July 19, 1998 from the
chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Eddie Herring
officiating. Special music was presented
by Mrs. Michelle
Rowe. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Dan Paris, Eddie Cobb, Gregg Brogden, Paris Lee, Kevin
Adamson,
and Fred F. Register, III. Interment was
in Union memory Gardens Cemetery, with military graveside honors by The
North
Georgia Honor Guard.

Mrs.
Alma Jane Winn Hodd, age 90, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away
Tuesday, July
14, 1998 in Hiawassee, Georgia.
Mrs. Hood
was born in Union county, Georgia, on Friday, December 13, 1907, a
daughter of
the late Kib Winn and Ellen Shuler Winn.
She was a homemaker and lifelong resident of union County. Mrs. Hood was a member of Union Baptist
Church, and was preceded in death by a son, Harold Hood, who passed
away in
1995.
Surviving are
her husband, Byron Hood, of Blairsville; brothers: Oscar Winn, Albert
Winn, and
Bart Winn, all of Blairsville; sister, Lydia Collins, of Ocolachnee,
GA; a
grandson, Brian Harold Hood, also survives, along with many friends and
other
relatives.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, July 16, 1998, at 2
p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev.
Stacy
Dyer officiating. Special music was
presented
by Kim and Elaine Young, with the following gentlemen serving as
pallbearers:
George Holland, max Hood, George Rogers, Jimmy Spiva, Crett Dyer, and
George
Hood. Interment was in Union Baptist
Church cemetery, with Cochran Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
